We just had lunch here. She had a souvlaki plate , I had a grilled chicken skewer, both served with wonderfully flavorful rice, roast potatoes, Greek salad, etc. Very tasty, artistically seasoned. Service was perfect. The space is very elegant, surprisingly so, though there are wall mounted televisions (I suppose those are inevitable these days). Highly recommended. read more

First time at this place to celebrate my birthday with a friend and our experienced was very good. Staff were friendly and very accommodating, always checking our needs. I had the Roast Lamb and it was very good. Very tasty and tender meat, literally falling off the bone. The portions of meals were huge. Enjoyed my roast lamb dinner - very tender and flavorful, as were the side Greek salad and mashed potatoes. The yogurt in the tzatziki was light and airy and clearly not Greek yogurt. Hubby's beef souvlaki was very tough, sinewy and overcooked - the picture on their online menu looks totally different than what was served. Parents enjoyed their calamari and prawn/steak dinners. The food was quite good, large portions and very reasonable prices. I have eaten there with a large party and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. The service was very good, non intrusive and appeared when needed which is always appreciated, and illustrative of experienced personnel. Tasty Greek place about halfway along the long stretch of Lougheed between Coquitlam Centre and Pitt River Bridge. Parking is somewhat limited in the strip mall. Might have to drive around a bit. The place is new and modern and classy. Staff were friendly. Buddy and I had the Mediterranean platter. This is the way to go. Beef souvlaki, roast lamb, spinach pie, and calamari, along with the usual roast potatoes and rice. There are also 2 individual Greek salads. This is probably the best way to try everything in one shot. Wouldn't mind coming back at some point, though the food is a wee bit pricey compared to the competition. read more

We stopped on December 28 which is still holiday and glad their happy hour menu was still available Each table has QR code. No physical menu. They have quite lots of drink menu too. It's bit sad they had only two tables with guests but the delivery service drivers come and go so often. Like every 10 minutes. I bet this restaurant is very popular for local people. Food was great. Went here for a staff party and the food tasted amazing! I enjoyed the Roast Lamb, very tender and soft. We had huge portions for a good price as well as appetizers and dessert. Don't bother wasting your time or money. Stopped in for lunch today 21/04/24. Service was prompt and friendly. That was as good as it got. My companion ordered the Seafood Platter and I ordered a large Greek Salad and a Spinach Pie (appetizer). The platter consisted of three (3) deep fried shrimp and a pile of deep fried calamari, a small Greek Salad, four quarters of pita bread and a side of tzatziki. The salad had a strange, thick creamy dressing that was mostly flavourless. The tzatziki was no better, seemingly bereft of yogurt, cucumber, lemon and garlic. It had the consistency of mortar. To be fair, the calamari was not overly greasy, the batter was light and the squid was tender but again, flavourless. My large Greek Salad (served with more pita) was generous but had the same gloopy, strange creamy dressing. No hint of olive oil, lemon, garlic, rosemary or oregano. The spinach pie was small, sadly soggy and uninspired and did not benefit from another serving of toothpaste thick flavourless tzatziki. Given that there were less than ten guests seated when we arrived, the kitchen was surprisingly slow. The only bright spot was the server was cheery and prompt. The experience was in all other respects disappointing. We will not return. read more

Came here for dinner on Sunday night around 7 PM with boyfriend - empty restaurant except two long tables with families just finishing up their meal. They cleared out then it was us and one other couple... until another large party came in and took up another long table. Commented to server that this seems to be a popular restaurant for families. Informed the owner is Arab so a lot of his friends come in as the meat is Halal. Hmm... Arabic owner of a Greek restaurant? Anyway.... onto the food... wine and beer list left something to be desired. We ordered the Greek fries with feta and tomato (frozen French fries with diced tomato and grated feta... bland.. no seasoning to speak) to start, along with the saganaki. Again, bland. I had lamb chops and he had the shrimp souvlaki upon server recommendation. Lamb was good but a bit tough, small portions. Rice was dry. Greek salad was very good. Did not stay for dessert. I just ordered 5 chicken souvlaki dinners, which I have done before on several occasions. But this time the amount of chicken was laughably small - looking more like appetizer satay... I had to call them to express my displeasure, I was instructed that the chef used 4 oz of chicken like always per skewer. I weighed it and one skewer was 1.5 oz, the other was almost 2. The rest were a little over 2. Understanding that chicken will lose some of it's weight when cooked (~25%), this is still way off of 4oz. To be fair they offered to pick up the food and provide a refund, but the family was hungry, so rice and potatoes it was. Very disappointed. I will not order from them again. read more

This place used to be pretty good, not great but a tasty local place in a pinch. Haven't been here in a while and was yearning for a taste again. Ordered my regular fettuccine that had always been moderate, not the best you would ever have, but that greasy regrettable food you want when you are tired and worn down. At first but it was just flavourless, bland and just not worth the $20. The more I ate the worse I realized it was. The pasta was so overcooked it was dissolving on my plate, their was no texture and it was just disgusting. Read online that they changed hands last year. Makes sense. I have mixed feelings about this Greek restaurant so let me get the negative out of the way. I walked in to an empty restaurant, but justified it a bit by the area and a lack of vehicular and foot traffic. They had football on TVs (TVs are tacky at restaurants. Football on TVs are double tacky) and country music on the speakers. Is this like a hick city or a Greek restaurant? Things are not looking good. I had a gyros sandwich and fries and while the meat itself was fine, the bread was doughy. The fries were just blasé They probably could have been fried a little more and been seasoned to deliver a little more impression. The restaurant offers Greek sandwiches, meals with rice and salad and a full bar. What made this restaurant's merely so-so food and bad music three stars, however, is the tall pretty waitress. She was the most kind, polite and caring waitress I have met in a long time. She was genuine and bubbly without being fake. She provided cheer and service without being obtrusive. She generally was sweet in a way that one feels is genuine and is a function of her personality out of the workplace. She took the orders, delivered the meal, answered questions and obtained answers where she did not know things off-hand and brought the bill and made her customer feel happy. First of all, let's talk about the vibe of this place! This is a very casual and relaxed restaurant; you can dress up or not, all up to you. You will not look out of place either way. Very much family-friendly, has a lot of booth seating and the music played in the background is not loud at all. The service is great, whether the server is assigned to your table or not, they will always collectively take care of you, so it feels very home-y. Now, I understand this restaurant is a chain, and I expected chain-style quality, but I was pleasantly surprised when it was better than what I had anticipated. Here is what we ordered: Cheesy Garlic Bread Appetizer Lamb Souvlaki Half Beef Half Prawn Souvlaki New York Style Cheesecake with Caramel Sauce The cheesy garlic bread appy was very good and very light as all appetizers should be, it was very simple too-- just toasted bread topped with garlic butter and melted cheese. We were hungry at the time so we totally wolfed it down. The souvlakis were also very good; I did find the rice a little too mushy but I feel like that is a personal preference because my brother absolutely loved the rice! The platter came with the rice, the meats of choice, as well as pita bread, boiled/baked potato, Greek salad and a side of tzatziki sauce. The souvlaki is a big portion so you do get what you pay for! Overall everything was decent and the cheesecake was a perfect ending to the dinner. There were a couple of things that I did not necessarily prefer, but then again, this is a chain restaurant, so their focus is much more business oriented and I completely understand that. Some of these things, for example, were the prawns; they did not seem like they were marinated enough, but they still tasted pretty good. The beef was a little tough (not tough enough for me to not be able to eat, but just tough enough to cause a little bit of my spoiled side to come out and whine about it a little), and as I mentioned above, the rice was a little mushy (but we can chalk this up to my personal preference). Overall this place is decent! It's a little pricey, and I think if you want to get a bang for your buck, you might as well just order the souvlaki of your preference, since it comes with the salad and the potato on the side; it's also a pretty hefty portion so you will probably need to take a quick food coma nap afterwards! read more

First visit this evening. Food was all right (more on that later) but the initial service was anything but impressive. It was really busy when we got there at 7:30 (several large parties inside), and without a reservation we knew we were risking a fairly long wait. That's not the problem. They have an iPad in the (very small) waiting area to check in, but the hostess advised my husband "Yeah, don't need to use that" and discouraged him from using it. She took his name but he noticed she didn't write it down. At the same time, he also noticed other parties were being told to not use the check-in system via the iPad. The wait was quoted at about 25 minutes, and we were fine with that. About 30 minutes go by, and then we were looked over in favour of another party of two who had arrived after us, without a reservation. That couple actually told this hostess (there was more than one hostess manning the front) that we were there before them, but she dismissed it and seated them anyway. After another 10 minutes, she came back and then tried to seat another party who had arrived well after us. Right before I interjected, that couple firmly told the hostess that we were there before them (thank you for your honesty) and we finally got seated. Literally one minute after being seated, our server came by and took drink orders (water and tea for me, coke for my husband). Tea and coke arrived shortly after but no water and I needed to take my medication. I asked for the water but it didn't arrive until I had to ask the server again after waiting 45 minutes - in that time not a single server came to our section. At least I was able to take my meds with a gulp of tea, albeit a bit uncomfortably. Dinner arrived roughly 50 minutes after making our order. Husband's calamari was really good and the tzatziki very tasty. My moussaka was okay, but was surprised to see it was 50/50 zucchini and eggplant. Not terrible, but a bit disappointing since eggplant is the main reason I order moussaka in the first place. Could tell that the servers were being run off their feet due to the parties, but your staffing issues shouldn't become your customers' issue. We're pretty patient, but please be more organized. read more

Not good. I haven't even began eating my food and already I know that this place is sketchy. The appearance looks sketchy and everything looks like it was bought at the dollar store. I was shocked when I looked at the menu prices. 8 dollars for a plate of bread and some hummus?! I'm sorry what?! That is absolutely absurd. Not to mention but the seating is so bad?? 35 minutes after ordering and there's no sign of the waitress or the dishes we ordered. There are only 3 tables occupied in the house and they can't even manage that. The waitress hasn't even come around to ask if we need our drinks topped up or anything! Another annoying thing about this place is its lack of proper ventilation. The dining room is thick with smoke from the kitchen. You walk out stinking of the kitchen. And since the food is not ready by this time, we've just decided to leave. Located in Port Coquitlam, where I normally do not venture into. I went out with my friend, thinking it would be your typical Greek food. I was so wrong to assume........ We started with the calamari (could have had more calamari) but it was crispy, light batter, and good taste. Indeed. A bit pricey at $9.99 For drinks, as I was driving, I had a virgin peach Margarita. Should have stuck with the strawberry. But it was not bad. $5.49. The menu has a good selection, but because they did not have Lamb Souvlaki, I opted for the lamb roast...and let me tell you, I ain't complaining on not having souvlaki. It was super tasty! Falling off the bone, and juicy. Every bite I had was good. I asked to have the souvlaki sides of rice pilaf, greek salad, potatoes and pita bread. Everything was delicious, and worth the price of $16.99. I could not finish it, and had to take some home. Our waitress was super friendly as well. You won't find a white building with blue awning characteristics of a typical Greek restaurant. If you are driving by you may think it's just another neighbourhood restaurant. Dinakis Mediterranean Grill is a restaurant located in the newly developed Oxford Connector Strip Mall on Lougheed Hwy and Shaughnessy Street - Beside Safeway. Dinakis has become one of my favourite Mediterranean and go-to Greek places. I love the fact they are so close to home and it's rare to find a tasty Greek restaurant in the Tri-Cities. The environment is cozy and trendy with booth seats and pretty bar. The staff are super friendly. I love Greek Salads and I especially like theirs - fresh veggies, feta that is grainy and pungent, and olives. A side salad always comes with their entrees. Spanakopita - I love the phyllo dough pastry! It's a great appie to share. I've noticed that sometimes that on random occasions it comes out a little burnt. Roasted Lamb - This you have to try especially if you are a lamb lover. Not only because there is a fair portion but the lamb is actually super tender and juicy! I don't find this gamey at all perhaps it's to do with the rosemary and herbs infused. Kalamari Dinner - Pretty standard. Come early because sometimes it runs out at night. Souvlaki Chicken, Beef 16.99 / Seafood 18.99 - I've tried all three some point since they've opened. The beef was a bit overcooked and tough. Perhaps it was tissue ends of the steak that night. I got tired of chewing. The Seafood however was not bad and was pretty tasty. Caesar - Weak. Guess I can't add it to my list of Best Damn Caesars.. Overall everything is fairly decent but perhaps a little expensive if you consider the location; however, the portions make up for it. For 7.99 you get a big slab of Tiramisu that is quite rich and tasty. So save some room for dessert if you are ever near! read more

It had been a year since I've had a chance to eat here. The calamari used to be one of the best in the Tri Cities and the chicken Marsala & roast lamb were to die for. Note the past tense. Truly disappointing tonight. The calamari was ok, but just ok. The roast lamb was on special but it was so salty I couldn't eat it. My partner had the chicken Marsala because that's his favorite and what he usually has but the chicken was dry & tough. We sent both our meals back and they seemed nice enough about it; brought a second Marsala which was better but still not great. i just wasn't hungry anymore so I didn't get anything else. Roast was a bit disappointing it was a bit dry and chewy not the fall off the bone tender that I have experienced in the past. The garlic mashed potatoes was lacking in the garlic and butter department. The Greek salad was very good with a generous portion of feta. Service was quit pleasant. Great Greek food for the price! Mostly go for Happy hour 8:30-closing!! Tried the Mediterranean Platter for girls night. Everything was cooked well but the lamb was a bit to rich for my taste. Their souvlakis are basic just like every other greek restaurant but the food is always fresh. They are usually pretty busy but they take reservations 30 mins before too so when walk in your seated right away. Servers have always been nice and friendly.
