My auntie recommended this place to me. She brings all her BMWs here so I trust that this place will do a good job. This shop can get busy so I recommend calling ahead of time to make sure they have time to look at your car. I came on a Tuesday but Andre was too busy to look at it that day and told me to come back on Thursday. He said I will have my car back around 4:30pm/5pm if I dropped off my car around 7:30am/8:30am and that was exactly what happened on Thursday. I initially brought my BMW x3 to BMW to get serviced because I didn't realize my 3 year complimentary maintenance was up. They quoted me a total of $881 for oil change ($120), vehicle check ($250), air filter ($212), and microfilter ($299). I got the same work done at Andre's for $435 total. My friend brought her new car exclusively to BMW to get serviced but the car was having so much trouble about 5-7 years in, she decided it's not worth it to keep fixing it. This makes me think paying the premium price at BMW does not mean your car will last longer. I currently have Michelin tires on my car and BMW recommenced I get Pirelli when I brought my car in. I didn't tell Andre this but when I told him I need new tires he said he'll look into the price of Pirelli and will give me a call to tell me the price before he orders it. He knows Pirelli is having a sale coming up so he'll try to get it at the sale price. This shows Andre knows his stuff and you can be confident he's using the best parts for your car and he's buying them at the best price he can get. read more

For years I took my car to the dealership for service. It was expensive and inconvenient. Then I decided to find a shop that is closer, in my neighborhood and has good Yelp reviews so I found and thought to give Andre's a try. And that was three years ago. Both I and my husband have been taken our cars to Andre's for service ever since. Just had my car serviced again this week for oil change, squeaky brakes, and defected adaptive headlight. Called the shop last week, set up the appointment with Jim in the office. Came by at 7:30 am as instructed and Andre came out to greeted me promptly. A few hours later, Andre and Jim called to let me know what needed to be done and how much it would cost. With my authorization, they proceeded with the works and I picked up my car at 4 pm on time and cost as quoted. When it comes to auto shop, professional, friendly, timely, fair, quality and trustworthiness mean a lot to me. And Andre's checks all the boxes . Stay VERY clear of this guy, I'm warning you all. Went in for a pretty routine fix on my 2015 BMW X1, radiator had failed and was cracked. Not great but not terrible, it happens to older cars. Price he quoted me was fair. Completed work on the car in 1.5-2 hours. Charged me and sent me on my way, was all very civil and simple. Car began acting strangely the next day. Chugging and stalling out in the middle of street, very rough idling. Immediately went back to him and asked (begged) him to help me, this car is my livelihood, and is essential to my family's well being. He was instantly combative, rude, short tempered and defensive. He never accepted the work he had done a DAY BEFORE could possibly be the cause of the issue. He made me wait an hour for him to run an errand, returned and still had intention to help me and looked annoyed I was still there. He hurriedly advised me to buy a new part (with much hand waving) which I did at great cost on my own (Mass Air Sensor). I installed the part two days later but it did not resolve the issue. I'm out another $120 for nothing. Out of desperation I dug down deeper into the engine bay only to find his TRASH technicians had not clipped in the intercooler air intake hose on properly. It was just hanging there under the newly installed radiator. Its likely there is permanently damage the engine and turbo system. Unbelievably bad service and utterly uncaring and terrible customer care. This guy is a grade-A prick. I'm not one to write up a review like this but I really want to warn anyone out there looking to get work done on a foreign car. Avoid this place at all costs. You will deeply regret it. Caused me immeasurable stress for a week that I didn't need or deserve. No idea what these other good reviews are talking about. I don't know about the technicians, but Andre is a scammer. He kept our car for about a month. I randomly walked over there to see if my car is still there, Andre wasnt there. The workers told me to talk with him. They call him back to the shop and I ask him when is the car going to be ready and he said he talked to my husband on Friday which he NEVER DID! He insisted that he did and said the pets are hard to find. I am not sure if I can trust this guy. Our car is hanging up there with all the tires out and the hood open. Been to Andre 3 times. The 3rd time I had a check engine light, he told me it was my thermostat and told me I needed to get it replaced. At first he told me it was 600+ when I got there he reduced the price to 500. Seems nice right? It's not that simple. After I got it replaced, I had to take a road trip to SoCal and that's when I realized that Andre did not take care of my car and he didn't locate the right problem. During the drive my check engine light came on again therefore I had to find a car shop during this holiday season that focuses on BMW. What's even worse is when I take my car to a Bimmer shop, workers took a look at my car and told me the valve cover the Andre promised me as "bmw genuine" is a piece of Euro part. Yesterday I had a service done and I was plesantly shocked when I saw they had fixed my grill (somehow it was pushed back and off the hinges). Here it is... I feel terrible for writing such a bad review. However, I do not believe that Andre is a certified mechanic. The first two times I took my car to Andre for an oil change and break pad replacements and that all went well. I came back for a temperature gage change and my car was returned in perfect conduction. This time around I had some engine issues and needed my front breaks replaced. Andre did so and returned it in a timely manner. This time around my car returned to me with issues??? Every time I release my foot off my brakes it squeaks. Secondly, I was told my crankshaft sensor was bad after a 'google search' by Andre. What??? You had to google this? What happened to plugging in your machine into my car to find out the real problem? I paid an arm and a leg I to get my car back. I drove my car around and for two hours and my engine light went back on. I took my car back to Andre and told him the issue. This time he told me it was the crankshaft that was causing the issue in my start delay. He drove my car around for 30 miles in the span of 4 days. When he returned my car he had told me that he had fixed the issue, nothing is wrong and no engine light... I drove my car around for less than 3 miles and the engine light goes on and my 'supposedly new breaks' are squeaking down town. I thought to myself maybe they're new breaks and I need to break them in. 20 miles later still the same issues. When a shop needs to google things it puts question marks on that 'certification'. I am now taking my car to a Mercedes Dealership to get this fixed and will be getting a full inspection. Andre is only good for new tires and maybe an oil change. He can barely replace break pads. I usually never ever write reviews, because 1. I have terrible grammar and 2. I roll with the punches and I understand things aren't perfect. I used to take my car to his brother's shop at Sunset Garage in Brisbane. Before that Sunset was on Ocean Ave. 25 years with George Yazbek. After George retired, I finally met his brother again. Trustworthy, helpful, patient and committed to his clients and just a great guy. I trust him 100 percent and not just because the bill is low and the car is as is should be after I drive off. This guy is not honest. Went for an oil change and after it was completed the owner came out to ask me if my car had been in an accident. He then proceeded to demonstrate to me that my hood wouldn't close. And then fabricated a big story that shifted blame to another garage. I caught him lying as the kid who did the oil change admitted to jacking the car up from the front (portable floor jack) . This bent the radiator framing and caused the hood clasp to misalign and not close. They tried everything but telling me the truth and taking responsibility for their error. Terrible! read more

I found Andre about 6 years ago since I used to study at the Iyengar Yoga Institute across the street (he has been at the shop the whole time, although now he is the owner). I have never felt more comfortable from the start about taking my car here. I have an older BMW, which crossed a line of being 'old' a few years back, needing a bit of standard work done. I have always gotten very honest opinions and good prices on the work I have had done there. I've been to other shops where they would try and give me a huge list of work that 'needed' to be done, none of which was really necessary. Andre's shop has worked on my alternator, replacement of coolant system, timing belt, axles, oil changes, etc....and it is running great today. Even this past year when my car needed smogging they made sure it would pass beforehand and got it smogged for me by a place close by. Everyone at the shop is very friendly and knows their stuff about cars. The work has always been done in a timely manner as long as I got it there early in the morning. I would highly recommend them if you have a foreign car (as I have to many friends) and as long as i am in SF i would not take my car anywhere else. read more

Drove my BMW through San Francisco when it suddenly started steaming from under the hood. The closest repair shop with good ratings was Andre so I stopped by. Of course, I did not have an appointment but Andre immediately looked at the car and quickly found the problem. One of the coolant hoses was broken. A few phone calls later to order parts, he gave me an estimate and told me to come back in the afternoon. I picked up the car and he actually did not have to change a 2nd hose so the repair charge was well below the estimate. The shop may not be as clean or cutting-edge as dealership shops, but Andre and his crew know their stuff, and work on a wide range of cars (Lancer Evos, Porsche 911s, Camry, my beloved M3, etc.). Most importantly, Andre keeps it real and has proven to be an honest (and friendly!) mechanic. Once he gets to know you, he tends to discount his prices pretty significantly... saving an arm and trust fund over dealership prices! Now, onto the negatives: they seem to frequently take longer to finish working on my car later than the given time estimate (then again, their shop is usually really busy), and don't always clean the car after working on it (sometimes leaving smudge marks as mentioned above). I needed to replace the front hood latch and hood release cable on my Toyota and had been shopping around a few places for the best price. The first couple of places quoted me from $300-$450 for parts and labor. After finally calling Andre's after a glowing recommendation from a friend, they were able to quote me at just half of the original costs I had been quoted. Took my kid's BMW to Andre's to repair a sun roof window which was not closing properly and was stuck. I brought it over and he said he would take care of it. He was able to close and secure the sun roof window so now my kid can drive her car around now without having a hole in her roof.
