Are there any ongoing promotions, discounts, or special financing offers available?

No. Sorry. The price for the inspection in the Bay Area is $149

Hi, I've been told that to really do a thorough inspection a car should be put on a lift. How do you address that kind of limitation of a mobile inspection? Thanks.

Good morning, I do lift the car up and go underneath it to check the suspension system, rack & pinion, axles and boots, leaks etc.

They say my rear brake pads and rotors need to be replaced + my rear shocks are leaking and are dead. They want $780 for the rear brakes and rotors then another $1250 for rear shocks and alignment. $2,030 worth of repairs for a 6 year old car with about 48000 miles on it. Obviously don't pay this if your car can still run fine and I immediately start searching for auto shops for help. I find out about Atech Auto by sending in a Yelp request and Alex gets back to me same day. He quotes me HALF the price Toyota wanted and can get me in the shop next weekend when I was free. Pretty good deal when compared to some other quotes I got. Bring my car in on Saturday around 9am and it probably doesn't get done until around 3pm. There isn't really a waiting area except for some lawn chairs. It's best to take an uber or ride Muni somewhere else to kill some time until your car is ready. Probably my only feedback is I wish they would've called me when my car was ready rather than me guessing and calling them, but hey they looked busy. Got the car back, paid the agreed price, and was on my way. I don't notice a huge change with how the car feels but I at least appreciate not being up charged twice the amount for similar services. Would recommend reaching out to them if you ever need to work on your car!

I went and dropped it off and he GUESSED (didn't do a full diagnostic test) it was a fuel pump issue and said he's 95% it was that. Told us a certain price and after the car was done, a few days later, he called and upped the price $200 more for no reason. After 2 weeks of having my car my car didn't start AGAIN. AAA insurance came and did a diagnostic and said it was the battery needed a new one so I got one and my car sounds better and issues was solved. Alex (owner) over charges people and doesn't do a thorough job. REPLYING TO THE COMMENT(Alex): I find it very unprofessional that you as a owner / business man would put your customers name, car, family business, and bring up how much you've helped have helped them on here. First off I'm a WOMAN my name is on my yelp, I don't have to hide or lie. This is MY yelp so I get to put my opinion and experience on here. Did I feel like I got overcharged, yes from $500 as quoted the first time to $700 before picking it up. There's many mechanics that ordered things on Amazon for their customers. Other businesses owners would comment after negative reviews with " we apologize for that experience" not argue back. It's very weird how you mentioned how much you help and do for others. My experience is my experience and my opinion is my opinion.

Isaiah and the team were super transparent throughout the whole process. Everything is documented in their website/app with videos and technician notes from the full diagnostic, and they constantly provided updates via text message every step of the way. There were no attempts to upsell whatsoever. During the diagnostic, it was noted that my serpentine belt should be replaced, so I went ahead and had that done as well. As for the passenger window, I had originally taken it to another shop over five years ago, where they charged me roughly $1,000 to fix it. I ultimately declined the repair at that time, but recently decided to finally address it. Little did I know, the previous mechanic had done a poor job, leaving behind a mess for someone else to deal with. The team here spent days carefully inspecting and diagnosing the issue, and I honestly felt bad for how much time they dedicated to it. In the end, they were able to successfully repair the passenger window motor. The very next day, my driver's side window stopped working. Isaiah and the team immediately told me to bring it back in. They ordered the necessary parts and replaced the master switch, completely free of charge. I was honestly shocked. That kind of integrity is rare, and it means everything as a customer. Thank you so much to Isaiah and the entire team for such honorable and outstanding customer service!

Every time I come here, the experience is seamless from start to finish. It starts from making an appointment with their virtual assistant. It made scheduling and communication incredibly efficient--no playing phone tag or waiting on hold just to get an update. What I appreciated most, however, was their honesty. We've all been to those mechanics who try to upsell you on a "fluid flush" or "belt replacement" the second you walk in the door. Sunset is the exact opposite. They performed the inspection, gave me the facts, and didn't push any unnecessary services. It's rare to find a shop that prioritizes integrity over a quick upsell. Pros: * Tech-Forward: The virtual assistant makes booking and updates a breeze. * No Pressure: Truly felt like they had my best interest (and budget) in mind. * Efficiency: They value your time and get you back on the road fast. If you're tired of the typical high-pressure mechanic experience, give Sunset Auto Care a shot.

It makes sense as a business model, but they will make you feel BAD about your car after you leave, even if you don't notice anything wrong with it. This place is the CLASSIC spend $250 on an oil change and come out with a $2,500 job to fix things in your car you didn't realize or doesn't need fixing. The owner tried to recreate the problem with hard braking multiple times over a short distance (like a semi-auto machine gun), but really couldn't. Luckily I don't brake that way, and nobody else does either. Technician was nice, front desk woman is usually grouchy with a "matter of fact, can't be bothered attitude." But it is what it is. It's too bad because I come here to support local businesses, but I've always felt off after spending money here. More context for why I feel there's always an upsell given Stan, the owner responded to my comment. * I came years ago for tires and was told I needed to change some random part. And then I took my car to my regular service place that doesn't do tires and they said the part was OK. I'm going to do the same and go to my regular mechanic and ask about my crow bars when they do the Service and report back. UPDATE: I got my service done at my mechanic and they said the suspension was fine! * When I asked whether Sunset Service do an oil change and service, they said "yes." So I asked them to tell me how much, which they couldn't until after they started working on swapping on my tires. No problem. They called 40 minutes later and first quoted $220, then said it was a misquote b/c they only had 6 quarts included instead of the 8 quarters my car needed. Fine, so then they said $260 with Castrol synthetic. They then pushed this product called Liqui Moly which is supposed to be a premium product out of Germany. That sounds good, but I have a 10 1/2 year-old car and no need for the fancy stuff for an extra $20 - $30 more. The normal Castro synthetic motor oil was fine. Then I asked whether they could pour an unopened bottle of Bar's Leak to help minimize a slight engine oil leak when they do the oil change. They said they could not due to Warranty Reasons. Really? Fine, even though it is an established product and just an oil change. But they did say that if I go with their Liqui Moly oil, which is at least $20 - $30 more expensive, they could add the Liqui Moly version engine oil leak product for another $27. Of course they could, especially when the product I bought cost only $7. This is obviously a smart upsell, which I ended up declining altogether because they wouldn't add my bottle. I'll just do it myself. It's too bad because I would have gladly paid the $260 or so to do the oil change and service to save time, even thought the quote was $20+ more expensive than my regular shop. So when I finally picked up my car with two new tires, I was surprised that Stan came out strong and said I have a knocking sound and need to change my control bars, even though he could not replicate the sound consistently or at all, even with his unnatural staccato hard breaking. Further, I have never heard of this knocking sound he mentioned. The cost to diagnose he mentioned was $200 (!), and then another $80-$120 for something else that would go towards fixing the car, and then potentially $2000 or more for new control bars. Wow. There was no patient explanation on something I clearly was surprised about. Then there was what aggressive questioning of where I get my car maintained, implying they were negligent, and I told him where. I also told him I'm getting a service done next month as I'm meticulous about maintaining the car and this is the first time I've heard of the problem he identified. Then he said I should get the big 100,000 mile service even though I only have 67,500 miles. Fair enough, but not at Sunset Service. So this is where I'm coming from in terms of feeling like I'm always getting upsold. How would you feel? I'm glad Stan took the time to respond. Customers like me are at the "top of the funnel," leads that could generate more business. However, I feel there is a better, more patient, and empathetic way to upsell to generate more business. I will stick to my regular mechanic for service whenever the light goes on. Sunset Service gets the job done for my multiple tire replacements. They have competitive pricing and they got it done within 1.5 hours vs 1 hour estimate. Everything else, I'm not so sure.

A rep forgot to book our visit at the South Vaness location and the car we were interested in was actually at their Geary location. Luckily we were still able to meet with someone at Geary with minimal wait. We spoke with Larry and he got us ready for a test drive. We knew what we wanted and was able to test drive a 2026 Rav4 Prime previously, so the test drive for our car was short and sweet. We let Larry know we had the grant letter ready to go so he got us squared away with the finance team, checked the special tax rates etc, and bought the car that day. We picked it up the following day after a complimentary interior and exterior car wash, full charge and gas tank before taking it home. It was great working with Larry: quick and clear communication over phone and text for updates. City Toyota SF is great because they're no frills with pricing. The CARFAX is obviously useless and Certified Pre Owned doesn't mean much either if these types of things slip by your process. Everyone out there that purchased a CPO vehicle from you should be re-running a CARFAX report to check on damages that may not have been reported and notifying Toyota Corporate. Vehicles have a material decrease in value due to past accidents and you effectively knowingly passed that on to me due to your negligence. I'm happy to update this review if you take steps to correct this problem. Expect reviews elsewhere as well until you do.
