This is an edited review after I had a better understanding of how they do business. They do good work BUT and it's a hugely important but they make you think you need more work than you really do. I went back to them recently w another problem. They estimated it at $7,000. I went to another shop that had. a Lot of integrity and spent time diagnosing the issue. They did the work for $2200. Amazing that JT was going to come up with unnecessary repairs again. Thank god I was a lot smarter this time. Totally tried to rip me off. Stopped by for an overheating situation, I knew it was just a hose, no engine or radiator issues at all. I have a Honda and the car runs perfectly. So I pulled up to see if they could take a look, and slap a hose on. No. They insisted on hooking it up to diagnostics. I don't know how much that costs but it is over $100. I said well before that, can you just look at it, I'm pretty sure it is just a hose. No. Refused. I drove off in my hot little car and took it to Emerald Auto on 645 Judah. It was a hose. $60. And they were nice. No diagnostic needed. I was on my merry little way in a jiffy. Love Emerald. Don't love JT's. read more

This place is wonderful! The shop and the store employee had good vibes. Originally, I went to get a smog. One of the techs popped my hood and asked if I wanted the piece replaced that carries the wiper fluid to my windshield. That had been broken for months so I was really happy for them to offer that. I figured I'd mention the tire sensor going off regularly so they looked at the tires and found a small leak in one of them. The kicker is, I've had that tire looked at twice (at a different place) and both times did not stop the sensor from going off. I'm hoping this time works!! What really got me was, I walked into the store and it looked and smelt so clean! Overall, my experience couldn't have gone better. read more

These guys did me a real solid with my truck repair and I'll be a customer of their moving forward based on my experience. Story goes: truck breaks down in middle of road on way home from work. Get a tow and look up nearest repair to my house and I'm in a jam. Anthony says they are closing at 6pm but offers to stay a little later to help me out. Tow ends up taking a long time so I drop my keys through the shops mailbox. Next morning Anthony and team diagnosed the problem very quick and give me a fair estimate to replace alternator. They complete the job and turns out repair cost them less than initial quote so ends up costing me $200 less than estimate. The response to my problem, solid work and communication, and the integrity around price is what needs to be shared about JT Auto. I'm grateful I found them in a jam (despite needing auto repair always being lame) and will enthusiastic recommend them to others. Great local business. If you have a Mini I would steer clear of JT's Auto. I brought my car in on Monday hoping it would be done by the next day. They needed to order a part that wouldn't arrive until Thursday. They said the part would take a half hour to install, so I thought my car would be ready that day. No, they needed to install software, which they couldn't figure out. They still couldn't get the software installed by the end of day Friday. As someone who needs my car to get to and from work every day this was a huge deal. I had to ask coworkers for rides and/or pay for Lyfts all week. Finally, on Friday I said I needed my car for the weekend. They said it was safe to drive although the software still wasn't updated. When I picked up my car they failed to tell me my fob didn't work, so I was unable to lock/unlock my car/trunk for six days- aaaah! They were finally able to update my car the following Thursday, which took all day (they said it could take up to 2 days). When I picked up my car I asked if they could at least deduct the diagnostic fee for all of my time and expenses...they said no. It took them 11 days to finally fix my car (battery and one other part) and it was a very frustrating experience. Unless you have all the time in the world get your car fixed, I do not recommend. read more

The guys that work here are straight forward and very helpful. Came in with a weak emergency brake. They diagnosed it within minutes and told me what I needed. I came back a few days later after they ordered the replacement part, and made the necessary adjustments, and drove off with a fixed car that I can now confidently park on an incline!! Side note, while I waited I walked around the hood, found a sandwich joint (shoutout to Yonkers Cafe) and had a sammich for breakfast that really hit the spot! read more

Went in for an engine light and they changed my oil to see if it helped. It didn't, but that's not why I'm upset. They stripped the screws of the oil pan and I had to get it fixed at the dealer's for $2000, and I suspect they knew they fucked up and didn't tell me. So I paid $300 for a vague diagnosis only to have them ruin my oil pan. They also never called when they said they would. I guess all the 5 star reviews are for Honda and Toyotas. They know shit about Mini Coopers. Pisses me off. read more

If you're gonna drop off your car and have someone there with you so you don't need to wait around, then ok. But don't expect your car to get done quickly. Oil change takes 1.5 hrs...should only take 1/2 hr. Short-staffed? Fine if you live close by and don't need your car. Otherwise, I think I'll go elsewhere. read more
