I used to come to this market a long time ago and the food was really great, so I thought Hey let's give this place a go again. I left my appointment next door and got one of my old favorites, crabsticks period the new ordering process is pretty good and the staff is fairly nice but the food has definitely changed in quality. The crab sticks were tough on the outside like they've been frozen for months, it was mushy inside. I didn't even feel they were safe to consume, so I pretty much wasted my money. So I figured I'd update my review, after seven years, while I was waiting for my fried fish order. But as mentioned before me, the new way of ordering and paying is much quicker than the old one so all I got to do was check in, where part of that first line and my order was ready. I still get my fresh fish from here, as does my mama when she comes through and decides to bless us all with her fried whole whiting. Occasionally, usually when I have folks visiting, I get fried fish from here. The whiting fillets are good, as are the shrimp. The scallops or whatever they are, not so much. The fries are good while fresh but not afterwards. The batter is tasty and all in all, the fried fish deals are solid. Folks also get the steamed baskets, but I haven't done that yet. I'm more likely to buy fish and steam in my own apartment, but that's just me. Maybe I'm missing out. Considering this place is by my apartment and the goods are good, I'll be back. read more

This place was a disappointment. I'm used to going to another fish market to get my steamed food but heard good things about here. It was blah. You have to season your own food before they steam it. I guess for some that makes sense but I just want my food seasoned and cooked since it's what I'm paying for. My food was alright, I didn't want to over salt or over-season my food so I didn't know how much to add. And everything was a bit overcooked, especially the shrimp. I visited on January 15th 2021 to purchase fish and vegetables. As I was waiting for the food to be cooked I saw a huge rat run across the hood of the stove in the front where the food is being prepared. The staff was oblivious as to what was going on. This makes me believe that rats are freely running around in the evening when the store is closed. This is a health hazard to the customers. Also, there is no grade on the front door. I believe that they know that they have a rodent problem and are still preparing food for the public. read more

I've lived on the Caribbean side of BK too long to realize I just needed to get to Bed Stuy to get some good old catfish! The place is small, but there is always a line of people waiting to order fish. You can get it fried or steamed...you can also get fries. The only weird thing is that they use margarine and not butter and I see so many folks smear it on by the pound, defeating the purpose of their healthy steamed fish. The service is fast and friendly. The steamed fish, shrimp, mussels and other delicious-looking seafood are winners among most of Andrew Fish Market's loyal patrons. Bang for the buck is an understatement. This place actually does make good fried fish. It is literally inside a fish market. They fry the fish that they actually sell. Great staff, Knows how to deal with natives of Bed Stuy. The owner is Korean (hence the namesake) so sometimes these Black or Latino staff members are wearing T shirts with Korean or Korea-related contents on it, and that is kind of adorable... read more

Horrible experience!!! Please take your business elsewhere. I ordered from this establishment and I found hair in my food. I requested my money back because it made me nauseous and turned me off. I spoke to the manager and he refused to give me my money back. He responded that he doesn't give any refunds. All I wanted was my money back because I was extremely disgusted by this experience. The health department needs to come out and inspect this place and shut it down. There is no sign in the restaurant saying no refunds and the manger did nothing to better the situation. I received no apology nor did he offer to remake my meal even though it would not have made a difference because I wouldn't have eaten anything else from here. I've walked past this unassuming fish market several times before actually stepping in. Its approx. 1/2 block from the A/C Nostrand Avenue line. The front of the store is a little cramped and manned by two very nice ladies. They offer both fried and steamed seafood for takeout. You also have the option of seasoning the fish yourself before they fry it, which I love. The fried whiting sandwich was delicious. However, the steamed shrimp does tend to be a little overcooked. The steamed soft shelled craps are cheap, so you kind of get what you pay for. They also offer fresh fish by the pound towards the back of the store. read more

I have been on a mission lately with steamed food this is my second fish market that i have seen that steams food, now getting to the things that i like and dislike. 1. The Price is very good 12 clams for $6 is hard to beat plus there shrimp and fish prices are cheap also. 2. The selection of vegetables to mix with your seafood is limited, don't expect okra and jalapeno peppers here! 3. Customer service is good but there is no one to tell you how things work, so I and another customer where lost in the terms of pricing and prep. 4. They don't have melted butter and chunk garlic just hard butter and garlic powder, and they do make a difference in taste! All in all its cool but the shrimp where over cooked and the taste was kind of bland. read more

The younger Spanish lady is very good w seasoning btw. But since i've watched her do it, i've mastered my own way of seasoning the fish and veggies. Fish always fresh was here last week whiting was 1.79 a lb nice and big too purchased about 15 or so pieces for about 11 dollars. Porgies were 2.99 a lb good nonetheless everything is always fresh and they're always crowded. Thanks to my dad for putting me on.
