Dr Mortensen and staff are kind, considerate, professional and current on the latest technology. This I appreciate the most as I had TMJ and now a tooth implant. My TMJ was diagnosed with the latest equipment and fitted with bite block. Within 2 weeks the mandible pain was gone and I continue to wear at night. Rather than bridge I chose an implant. This too I was able to have procedure at the office and not be turfed out to oral surgeon. I am for a one stop shopping and especially for my dentist. I wanted to wait until all my work was done with Dr Mortensen. And after almost a year and a half that time has come. I will try and sum everything up with one short sentence: You will NEVER find a better dentist than Dr Mortensen or a friendlier staff. I was terrified of the dentist my entire life (probably why it took so long to get my teeth right!), but shortly after hearing about Dr Mortensen and going into his office in Fountain Valley that all changed. They put me at ease and were always extremely nice and caring. They have all the newest technology and they are incredibly knowledgeable in their craft. I think this is my first yelp review, so that's saying a lot. I decided to see Dr. Mortensen based on referral to have a crown replaced. I live in Mission Viejo, his office is located in Fountain Valley. So, a bit of a drive for me. I've since decided it's worth the drive. I'm not exaggerating when I say, having a crown replaced was a piece of cake! I've had two crowns previous which were painful and uncomfortable. Dr. Mortensen was expert in this procedure. He literally made it pain free during and afterward. Not only is he a gifted dentist, but he is also an honest and kind person. I've since been back and have had such positive experiences. Dr. Mortensen was recommended to me when I cracked a molar at work around 2010. He not only corrected my issue, but right then and there became my all-around dentist. He's patient and explains what's required, including any available options. It was so refreshing to have a dentist speak to me, the patient, as an intelligent person instead of pronouncing (and attempting to up-sell). Another major plus is that all the staff really gets along, including appropriate joking, which lends itself to a positive atmosphere for all -- staff and patients alike. If anyone's looking for an honest and positive dentist in central Orange County (or willing to travel to Fountain Valley), I highly recommend Dr. Mortensen's practice -- the first dentist I'd not hesitated to make follow-up appointments. I can't say enough positive comments about Dr. Mortensen, as well as his staff. Jackie, Katie and Ashley (hygienist) are all marvelous, including the others there who's names I can't recall. Like many people I tried to avoid going to dentist for several years. I'd floss and brush religiously hoping that my teeth would be A-okay. I get claustrophobic in the dentist chair and feel like I'm being worked on by aliens when the bright light is shining on my face and people in masks are standing over me prodding shiny instruments and machines towards my face. Came in with years of discomfort and neck pain/headaches, and because of Dr. Mortenson and his staff my symptoms have been virtually eliminated. I got fitted with an orthotic that helps my jaw alignment and it has changed the way I sleep, eat, play sports, everything. Love these guys and all they did for me. Dr. Mortensen has been my dentist since 2000. He has a warm demeanor and is interested in providing the best care for his patients. He stays on top of the latest methods in the fields. He explains all the options available to a patient when a procedure is indicated, makes sures that the patient knows both the upside and downsides. I had a procedure done which did entail the risk that it might not work out and I was fully informed before I consented to undergo it. As it was, things worked out well...he saved a tooth that had fractured. Dr. Mortensen is currently working on an implant for me...it is a multi-procedure task and many patients will have some pain afterward. He provided me with a prescription for painkillers in case I needed it. He called me at home the day after the procedure to find out how I was doing (i had a low grade pain at the site which lasted 24 hours). That is just the kind of man he is. I have had my cleanings done by the dental hygienists he has on staff. They are are capable individuals that know their craft well. The staff tends to be upbeat and cares about their patients. So overall, I highly recommend Dr. Mortensen. read more

I can not say enough amazing things about Dr. Mortensen and his staff!! My HMO provider was a total scam and a co-worker recommend Dr. Mortensen. Jackie at the front desk was beyond helpful and said I could come in for a free consultation to compare diagnosis from the other dentist. Dr. Mortensen was so extremely kind and generous. He confirmed that I did in fact have cavities but did not need half of the treatment the HMO dentist said was needed. It ended being cheaper to pay out of pocket for the few cavities and I would've done it anyway for the amazing service. Dental work freaks me out and can be so super expensive. They worked out a payment plan with me and treated me so well. The girls who work there, Ashley and Katie, were so fun and chatty.
