Went here to get lenses for a pair of frames I already had…read more I asked the optician if it was possible to add nose pads on the frames, she just stared at me and shook her head. She almost looked annoyed to do her job?? I was kind of taken aback by her attitude. The optician proceeded to say "you have no bridge at all" in a rude manner almost insulting my looks. The doctor owners, the father and daughter duo, must train their staff better to be more culturally sensitive when working with Southeast Asian patients and not insult our racial features. Is the Optician racist? This was the only takeaway I had walking away from this experience. Not to mention the awkward front desk situation. They have two front desk people, when you are talking to one, the other front desk person just stare at you the whole time. I felt so insulted and racially profiled that I asked my husband to call and cancel my lenses with them. Also, how are lenses $240 after insurance?!!! On glasses USA you can get at least three pairs including lenses for that price.

She not only did a beautiful job stitching up my son's injuries, she did everything in her power to bring him comfort and make his experience less stressful. She was able to calm two very anxious parents with thoughtful words and by reassuring us along the way. She explained everything she was doing to both our son and us so that everyone in the room was comfortable. Fast forward and years later I made a very personal decision to explant my breast implants. I was delighted when I discovered that Dr. Sowder was considered one of the top surgeons in the area for explant surgery. She was thoughtful and comprehensive during my initial appointment. She answered every question I had before I asked it and was totally willing and able to give me the exact experience and surgery I was requesting. Her staff was amazing, comforting and insightful on the day of my surgery. She and her anesthesiologist were willing to work with me to do the survey and recovery totally narcotic free. I'm about 9 months out from having liposuction (belly, flanks, and neck) with Dr. Sowder…read more I interviewed several surgeons in the Seattle area, and unfortunately there still seems to be something of a suspicion of men as cosmetic surgery patients. Most surgeons' web sites don't mention men at all. Many sites are vaguely suggestive of ads for feminine hygiene products and feature photographs of creamy-skinned women loping through spring fields and bonding chummily over coffee. It's like a big "keep out" sign for men. So, Dr. Sowder's blog and office page were a real breath of fresh air. The material is down to earth and informative, and she talks about men in a number of different contexts. In person, she's pretty much exactly who you'd expect her to be from reading her blog: friendly, pragmatic, and clear with her recommendations. A lot of folks do cosmetic procedures of one sort or another, but I wanted someone who 1) was board certified in plastic surgery, 2) had a background in academic medicine, 3) did face and neck procedures, and 4) seemed comfortable working on men. Those criteria narrowed the field down to just 2 or 3 people in the Seattle metro area. (Actually, that's true even if you consider #1 and #2 alone - people enter this industry through a lot of different paths, and board certification is not as common as you might assume.) Of course, credentials and demeanor don't mean diddly-squat if you're not happy with the actual work. Like other reviewers, I can only relate my own experience, and it's important to keep in mind that a variety of accessory factors affect the outcome. I think I was a particularly good candidate for the procedures I had, and I've been pretty good about exercising and eating well over the last couple of years, too. I'm hedging not because my results are equivocal but because they're actually absurdly good. Each area looks better than I had imagined possible. Of course, it's subjective: if you saw me on the street, you'd probably think, "Yeah, he looks OK for a middle-aged man." But from the inside, the experience has been really gratifying and transformative. It's surreal to find yourself suddenly living in a much nicer body. Just, please, don't go into Dr. Sowder's office and say, "I'm here because this random guy on Yelp said you'd make me look better than I ever imagined possible!" Two minor points: 1) I don't have the impression that pricing varies too much among providers, at least for the procedures I had. So don't be put off by Sowder's credentials. Her pricing seems quite competitive. 2) Sowder's office staff are excellent, and the office runs like a Swiss watch. All appointments were handled promptly, and the procedure itself was pretty much right on schedule. Again, this isn't necessarily a factor you'd put too much weight on a priori, but it's reflective of good management. And it does make the whole experience a lot smoother.

I went through the preliminary testing and explained what I wanted. I wanted monovision because I had done that before with contacts, and they told me, "Yes, we can do that." They put me through the testing, and the next day I met with the surgeon. He said, "Sure, we can do this for you. No sweat." That was exactly what I needed to hear. I was scheduled for the following Tuesday for my first eye, had the procedure done, and went back the next day for the follow-up. Everything was healing nicely. The one thing I really want to say is that everybody -- the doctors, the receptionists, the scheduling staff, the people on the phone, everyone -- was FANTASTIC. This outfit is the greatest. If you need eye surgery, LASIK, cataract surgery, or anything else Sharp Vision provides, do yourself the biggest favor and go there first. Before my surgery, I was quoted a price weeks in advance and paid it in full. Unfortunately, I wasn't a candidate for LASIK, which was disappointing, but Dr. Schmidt was able to perform the procedure manually instead. Since the LASIK portion wasn't done, I was told the procedure should have cost about $2,000 less. At my follow-up appointment, I didn't see Dr. Schmidt. Instead, I saw another doctor after waiting nearly 40 minutes for an exam that lasted less than five minutes. When I asked about the $2,000 difference, I was told that I actually owed an additional $900 because a deductible had been applied after my original quote. This was extremely frustrating. If I had been informed before surgery that my out-of-pocket cost would increase by $900, I could have planned and budgeted accordingly. Instead, I was given one price, paid it upfront, and then was surprised with an unexpected bill afterward. The medical care itself was great, but the lack of transparency and communication about billing left me very disappointed.

If someone is coming in only for a consultation is it truly necessary to receive those immediately upon checking in? It can great unnecessary anxiety and panic. On top of the team being 30 mins late, pop music blasting, and my partners worst fear in a packet on her lap. I had to say something. Front desk is kind, but when asked about the packet, and the wait.. they stared with glossed over eyes and cold tone. To be fair, not their fault... Please be mindful, not every patient is the same. Some have anxiety/trauma and your set-up is not conducive to that. Consider reviewing the check-in docs maybe? I'd just recommend providing those documents during the appointment itself!
