    Brisket Tips
    CJ T.

Always wanted to try the #1 BBQ place in America. The inside was so cute albeit could use some cleaning on the ceiling tiles. The staff were nice and accommodating. A huge variety on the menu. I had the brisket tip sandwich with tater wedges and Mac n Cheese. There was no way you could call what I had tips. They were ginormous! It was way more than 6oz as advertised. The flavor was deep and meaty. I couldn't hardly make a dent. The tater wedges lacked any seasoning not even salt. Salt would have helped out tremendously. The Mac n cheese was a huge disappointment. The noodles were mush, cooked way too long. And again no flavor. I didn't taste cheese, milk or butter and no salt or pepper. The prices were fantastic I just wish the sides were better. I tried my wife's bbq chicken sandwich and that tasted delicious. The baked beans were too vinegary. The coleslaw was fine. I would come back for the bbq chicken sandwich and I would like to try the other sides and hope they are better. I really loved the music they were playing inside. It's a cute place.

Pull pork Sammie with sides of mac n cheese & cold Grandmas Coleslaw

This was a nice find while driving up to Lancaster. We enjoyed the wings as well as our sammies. The pulled pork was dry but they had good sauce options, I liked the hot sauce, hubs enjoyed the mustard based bbq. The mac n'cheese was good as was the coleslaw. Hubs enjoyed the potato wedges. It's an order and pick-up place with some seating. Menu is on chalk boards over the registers with a view of the food prep. Laidback, no frills. We would visit again when in the area and suggest the same for you if looking for good local bbq.

    Ribs and Burnt ends

Amazing BBQ, best I've had in Maryland. Dry rub ribs and burnt ends were absolute perfection. I'm still dreaming about them. Cornbread and Mac and Cheese also divine. Service was spectacular. I can't say enough about this spot. I CANT wait to go back !!

Went through drive through today for some ribs. Very disappointed. Dry and old. I tried to give them another chance. Nahhhhh ...

Yum! The Dry Rub Ribs are to die for! I'm a "slather it in all the sauce" kind of person and didn't need to do that because they were so flavorful. I mean, I still tried all the sauces, but honestly these ribs were just perfect as they were. The coleslaw and cornbread were really good too! The only thing I wouldn't order again were the beans - too much green pepper kind of killed them for me. Just not a fan of that flavor profile. It's a bare bones kind of place but I liked all the football memorabilia. Fun to read! The server behind the counter was kind of mean, but the guy working the tables was super nice, so I guess the service averages out to...average. I'd totally go back for more ribs, cornbread, and slaw! And next time I'll try the Mac and cheese and a dessert.

Ordered something I saw on Instagram. They got me!

Been awhile, eh Andy? I was supposed to meet a buddy for some music but have, to this point, been ghosted. Well, live music put on hold due to rain. So, I ventured inside to order and eat. There two Nelson's team members taking orders in the counter area. Kinda hot in there. Karen S took my order. She's very pleasant, poised and professional. I had meat on my more specifically, pit beef. I ordered the jumbo pit beef Sammie and decided to go EXPRESS and got two sides (incomparable Mac n cheese and baked beans) and a fountain drink for just six bucks more. What a score! I ate in the dining room. Pleasant and older decor. The food? Forget about it. It's great. I killed the sides first and then tackled the sammie. Yum yum yum. Plenty for my tum. And. The food ran just south of $17. I presented a 20 and left the rest as a tip to a deserving crew. I promise to visit more often, hopefully with company.

As always, delicious food from Andy Nelson's. Popped in on a weekend day and got to enjoy the outside tables while devouring a beef Sammy with potato salad and mac and cheese. Being from the Southwest, I'm very picky about BBQ. Especially BBQ in the Baltimore region. Or lack thereof. AN's is always consistent quality meats and sides.

Great unassuming local spot. BBQ and sides were unique and on point. Had the pork BBQ Sammy and enjoyed every bite. The beans were unique with some old bay flavor. Give it a try when you're close.

How is this place vegan? Is that like some sick joke some Yelp reviewer decided to play?

Just because you read stuff online doesn't mean it's fact. I suppose if you want vegan you need to shop around.

Do they have a kids menu?

I didn't see them offer it on the downloadable menu.

Pappas in Cockeysville came up in a couple of influencers' lists, so we made the 1 1/2 hour drive north to experience it for ourselves. We arrived at 11:30 on a Sunday morning and chose to sit on the restaurant side (versus the sports bar side). Our meal started with soft rolls right out of the oven and vinegar-y cucumbers. My wife had some them while I passed on them for I don't like cucumbers. Obviously, we later ordered the single crab cake entree with two sides ($33.99). I chose the fries and the up-charge for a Caesar salad while my wife picked the coleslaw and mashed potatoes. The crab cakes did not disappoint! Even though it was a hot day outside, they kept the restaurant very cold. After we ate, I didn't notice it as much because I was so full. It was a puny crab with hardly any meat and it was not properly cleaned either. Sides of overcooked brocolli and asparagus. Baked potatoes looked liked yesterday's overcooked option. My colleagues enjoyed the crab cakes which were large portions- should be for $40+ each. Service was friendly, food took too long- it was a long wait for mediocre overpriced food.

I was eager to peruse to see what tasty treat I could grab. Parking was plentiful, but busy. I suggest you go as early as possible to secure a hassle free experience parking and market wise. They have a variety of mini markets and food vendors in the building: bbq, seafood, spices, bakery, pickles items, clothing, furniture, butcher, handmade crafts, fresh made pretzels, etc. They also had an area to sit and enjoy your food purchases. We also picked up a half of a coconut cake, a slice of strawberry cheesecake, some apple butter and blackberry jam, and as we exited we got the glazed almonds and cashews. This place seems big, but it is manageable to walk around and check out all of the vendors. Upon tasting, our ribs were good: perfectly seasoned and fresh; the wings were rotisserie roasted and were good as well; the cake was just ok for us fresh with coconut flakes held on by white buttercream; the strawberry cheesecake was just ok; the glazed nuts were good as well. All in all, a nice market to visit for fresh, homemade food and unique crafts/gifts.

Finally decided to try this place and it was worth it. First, it was much more affordable than the bbq spots in the west. We ordered the black plate special and a 3 meat plate. The black plate special was a smoked ribeye and every bite of that thing was tender snd flavorful. Honestly, it didn't need the sauce it came with. For the 3 meat plate, we got fatty brisket, cheese and jalapeño sausage, and baby back ribs. The fatty brisket was definitely fatty, maybe a little too fatty for me, but great flavor and fat is flavor. The baby back ribs seemed more like spareribs, but tender with a nice bite, not too "fall off the bone". The jalapeno sausage had a nice snap. My favorite meat was the ribeye. For sides we got potato salad, cole slaw, and mac and cheese. All the sides were good, the cole slaw was refreshing and gave a nice contrast for the fatty meat. I wish they had rice though. Steamed rice and that ribeye would have been top tier. The staff are very friendly and they check up on you even though it's a self serve place. Sadly, I live in the west coast, so I don't know if I would ever be back again in the area.
