Hadn't been to this restaurant in a long time and wanted to bring a date here to have sushi. The restaurant was about half full on a Tuesday evening. My date arrived before me and got a table and some tea, when I arrived we ordered some miso soup which came piping hot and delicious and we ordered four different rolls of sushi. We got a California roll, we got a son-in-law mango roll which was shrimp tempura topped with crispy spicy tuna and mango and it was absolutely delicious, it was probably the most favorite of the four rolls that we got. We also had their first year roll which was an anniversary sushi roll and had Old Bay crab meat, avocado, and shrimp tempura style. To cap off the four rolls, we got a spider roll which is soft shell crab, cucumber, and roe. They were all really good but the son in law mango roll was probably the best and our favorite of the four. My date had never had sticky rice with mango and that's one of my favorite desserts ever. So we got one to share and she loved it and it was different than I had had in other places and it was really good and really tasty. This place offers a lot of unique sushi as well as unique dishes. I think the last time I was here I had a combination of sushi and a regular dish from the menu. Our waiter was fantastic and our service was great. Every time I water glasses were a little low he came by and refill them and got us another pot of tea. I can't say enough about our experience last night and I highly recommend this restaurant and I look forward to going back. read more

We enjoyed a delightful dinner at Greenleaf. Winnie, our server, took excellent care of us. We started off with a Shrimp Tempura appetizer that came with 3 shrimp and several green beans, broccoli and an eggplant. They were all perfectly seasoned, lightly battered and fried. We also shared an order of Sashimi Tuna that was served with wasabi and ginger. My husband enjoyed his favorite Crispy Jumbo Shrimp with honey Sesame sauce. My son had the General Tso's Chicken. I decided on sushi for this evening. I had a Shrimp Tempura roll as well as an Avocado and Cucumber roll - both delicious. We ordered Orange Chicken to go. Everything was just perfect. We went to GreenLeaf for the first time Saturday night. We love sushi and heard how good it was there. It was even better than we expected! The sushi was as good as I have ever had including New York. The waiters were fantastic. The owners named Charlie and Peggy who are very fun and personable. We spoke with some other guests in the restaurant and they all seem to be regulars who go EVERY week. It's BYOB so it's always a fun atmosphere. We found our new home for sushi! Always a great meal. Attentive and friendly service. Really great people. Always a family favorite for special and casual occasions. Our go-to meals always include tuna tartar and one of the anniversary rolls. This visit included the three-year anniversary roll...hard to beat. It has seaweed salad, octopus, and tuna, served over a sliced tempura rice roll and all served on a plate. The other 15 anniversary rolls are also a real treat. It's almost unfair for me to write a review of this restaurant, whose food I have been enjoying for over a decade. Obviously I am not going to have bad things to say about a place which has kept me happy for so long. There must be 10 sushi restaurants up and down the York Road corridor, but Green Leaf is the best. I have never had a meal there that I didn't like and the service is great, the staff friendly. Prices are reasonable. My particular favorites are the 5th year roll, the miso soup, the Singapore Noodles (with chicken), and the vegetable tempura, but there are many many other items to choose from, including a huge variety of rolls, sashimi, and other dishes. If you want sushi -- or just plain good Asian fusion food -- in the Cockeysville / Lutherville area, this is the place to go. It's that simple. read more

This is our go-to sushi spot in Baltimore County, and we've even gotten our friends and family hooked! The sushi is always fresh and the flavors are fantastic - the deluxe sashimi is incredible, and our favorite sushi rolls are the 12th Year and Sushi Sister rolls. We also love the Green Leaf Dumpling Soup, and haven't had an entree we didn't love! We take out often, but also really enjoy dining in. The service is outstanding! It can get busy, so reservations are helpful. We ordered take out from here recently and were really disappointed. We barely had enough rice for the dishes we ordered. My husband ordered the beef and broccoli and thought it was ok. I tried a sushi roll with shrimp "two to tango" I believe it was called but it was only ok. Green Leaf has such a variety of food to choose from and overall, it seems like they do a pretty good job on each of them. Sushi was good, not great, and honestly a bit expensive. Thai was good, I think their drunken noodles lack a little flavor and heat. Pad thai is good and priced really well, you get a ton. I usually get shrimp in my pad thai but I don't like it thay way here. The shrimp isn't an extra charge like other places but it's reaaallllly small and not great, so I'd go with another protein in the noodle dishes. read more

Just found this place a few weeks ago. Friends took us there and love the food. Atmosphere could use a little improvement, but do like the BYOB, especially with the liquor store two doors down. We got takeout to watch the game. Ordered a Rainbow roll, Volcano roll, spicy lobster roll, and chicken and shrimp pad thai. Sushi was fresh and well made. I enjoyed the rainbow roll, while my son loved the spicy lobster roll! Pad Thai noodles are always good and a ton of food. Worth the stop to grab good food, either to go or eat in. read more

Stopped here on my lunch break with my two coworkers today a little after noon. There was not a wait or crowd. They have a very extensive sushi menu, lunch and Asian specialties that is pretty affordable for the portion sizes. The service was on point and our water glasses were never empty. Food came out pretty fast and that's a win if your in a lunch time crunch. I ordered the sesame chicken lunch special that comes with a California roll, small side salad and miso soup. Awesome combo and very filling. I ate everything minus the salad and all were super tasty. It's been a while since I've been here but I will definitely be back SOON! read more

FIrst visit/carry out. Outstanding four dishes (Tekka Don, Drunken Noodles, Green Leaf Pasta, and Eggplant with Sesame Sauce. Sushi bar salad was a huge hit. Ordered Chinese take out, which while good, I don't think is their claim to fame. The General Tso's was good with big chunks of chicken and lots of broccoli, my wife's Japanese chicken fried rice was good and different from other places. Actually a bit lighter. But none of it stood out. I think their best stuff is sushi, which I will definitely go back and try. They did have egg rolls so I tried these Ocean rolls which were different but really good! Absolutely deplorable service! Walked in and was abruptly and rudely told "you must have a reservation and we cannot serve you!"... without even offering to put me on a wait list. As I exited the restaurant I saw several open tables as well as space at the sushi bar. Given they could not accommodate myself as a single diner is downright awful!!! Typical rude MD service and hospitality.... I'll go elsewhere even though I frequented here several times. I will tell everyone I know at my nearby office and my friends to avoid this place as they seem to have forgotten about the value of a customer...no matter how good their food is. I almost never write a bad review, however, in this instace I feel I have to. My friend and I received a very luke warm reception at Green Leaf. We ordered drinks, appetizers, and two entrées. One of the drinks we wanted wasn't available, okay fine. We ordered the drunken noodles which we didn't really like. It was a sloppy pile of overcooked flavorless noodles with beef and some vegetables. We told the server that we didn't like it. She alerted whom I believe was either the owner or manager. He told us that this is their most popular dish and couldn't quite fathom the idea that we didn't care for it. We were not offered a replacement dish, they did not offer to take it off of our bill, nor was there any apology offered. He just kept insisting that it is the most popular dish and everyone loves it. Very poor customer service. read more

This is one of my go-to sushi places. Be prepared to wait for a table if you're dining in, especially on busy nights. The to go counter is as busy as the restaurant and I've done both dining in and take out. Personal recommendations are the Crunchy roll and the Penthouse roll. I also like the Pretty in Red and the Two to Tango. The wait staff are not always the friendliest but the food is good so it is worth it. I think it is also a BYOB which is great for dining in. read more

My husband and I have eaten at this restaurant since it opened, It is one of our "go to" places in Cockeysville. Ample servings, fresh ingredients, seasoned appropriately and courteous wait staff. This is a great Thai food option in the area. I was very impressed with how busy the restaurant was on a weekday, and it became clear why when I saw the food. The portions are huge and the food tasted really good. I had the drunken noodles and loved how chewy and wonderfully wok charred the broad noodles were. The shrimp I had on the noodles tasted like they were frozen and came precooked. I would personally choose another protein with the meal next time. I also tasted the pad thai and it was OK but not one of the better pad thai dishes that I have had. The balance of the dish felt off and I was turned off by how sweet the dish was. The wait staff was very attentive despite how busy the restaurant was, and were very quick to refill our glasses and check in on us. This is definitely going to be my go-to place for thai food in this area. read more

I don't know if I've ever had Thai food for a better value than I did today. OMG! it was flavorful through and through. I had the shrimp pad thai and it was DELICIOUS!!! When the gentleman rang me up I had to ask him to repeat his self because it was such a great value. I can't wait to go back and try the drunken noodles. Busy on a later suburban Saturday night. Good dish of Singapore noodles, though could've skipped the chicken included (and mostly did). The tempura appetizer, though, is To Be Avoided. A horrible greasy dough in some non crispy vegetables, worse or equal to fried onion rings at a carny stall. About as far from what tempura should be, even for a mall restaurant-- though one with a very nice and extensive sushi bar and roll offerings (which we dis not try). A tale of two restaurants... it was the best of food, it was the worst of food. Ok, not quite, but let me explain. The sushi bar was a hidden gem. We didn't come for sushi but decided to order a couple of rolls anyway because why not, and they were both excellent. Prepared well, fish tasted fresh, with excellent presentation. We were delighted and surprised by what we received. Things were looking good. And then our entrees came out. Completely lacking in flavor. Bland chicken in bland sauce with bland noodles was rather ... bland. Thai chicken had tomatoes that added flavor to the otherwise flavorless sauce, but was mostly flavorless. Ultimately we took most of the entrees home, where the addition of ginger, garlic and red pepper flakes livened up the bland dish and made it taste like it should have in the first place. I'd eat here again, but only for sushi. read more

This spot came up when I searched "Thai food" and it was different from my experiences at other Thai restaurants. For starters they only had 3-5 Thai items on the menu, and we were less than thrilled with our servers performance. I will say however for what seems to be a family owned restaurant they are not that bad. The portion sizes were a little small for the price but the food did taste good!! (4/10/2015) We were celebrating two family birthdays at once at Green Leaf, it was the organizer's fave Asian restaurant in the area. We all already know Baltimore metro has abysmal Chinese food representation, out in the far flung 'burbs, it's even worse than you think. While the sign may say "Japanese," it's def not; it's a Chinese restaurant cashing in on a trifecta of jaded trends: sushi/Thai/spa cuisine. I'm not even going to talk about authenticity. Having read the menu beforehand and the reviews, decided to stick with the sushi. Rolls were thick, loose, heavily sauced, mostly favored non-sushi eaters with a preponderance of deep-fried items in the maki (fried chicken in a roll, anyone?) and of the maki itself. Nigiri were mostly fresh, but enormous pieces, twice the appropriate 2-bite size. I know it's generous, but it's just not right. The Asian-style dishes were mostly fusion or just straight up fancified carryout (Fried Rice, Honey Sesame Chicken). Honey Sesame Chicken was large deep-fried cubes of rather dry breast meat (as it usually is with white meat) in a sticky sauce flavored mostly with rice vinegar and soy. Pad Thai was boring but a very large portion, noodles stuck together and not well-seasoned. Fusion "spa cuisine" pastas did have plenty of fresh, bright green vegetables. They were very nice and accommodated our large party well, even made room for a surprise visitor, let us bring a cake, and sang happy birthday; all on a packed Friday night. It gets crazy busy, but I suspect mostly because there's not much competition around in these here parts. read more
