We love Cruiser's pit beef. They have a large selection of sandwiches and BBQ foods as well as many premade choices to satisfy any craving. We Loaded with tender, perfectly cooked beef sandwiches with whatever fixings you want: BBQ sauce, horseradish and onions (hubby) or mayo, horseradish and raw Jones (me). We always get their huge order of fries with gravy, which makes an amazing meal for two. There is so much meat on the sandwiches that I usually take 1/2 of the beef off of my sandwich to enjoy the next day. They have loads of condiments to choose from and since it is self-serve, you can fix it up exactly how you like it. A trip there doesn't come cheap, however. It had to be done. I had to know how Cruiser's compares to Chaps. Jeremy and I were over at Tradepoint Atlantic, checking out the wreckage of the bridge, and decided to get a little snack before we headed to the park. Friends had just visited Cruiser's the week before, and had warned us not to get the hamburger, so we ordered a pit beef sandwich to share. Jeremy got it topped with raw onions and barbecue sauce. He brought me a small container of horseradish. It was fine. A bit dry. Since it was sauced before the employee wrapped it, Jeremy didn't think to bring me a container of sauce, too. The horseradish is fantastic, though. Makes your brain feel like you've been electrocuted - which is exactly how I like it. We prefer Chaps, but not the location in Glen Burnie. You need to go to the original location to get the top-notch sandwich. Personally, I think getting the Cruiser's sandwich cooked medium was the issue. I've had better pit beef sandwiches at carnivals. So if you like your sandwich more on the pink side, don't order medium. Jeremy ate the majority of the sandwich, and enjoyed it. I'm sorry. My favorite pit beef! The beef is so juicy and tastes so good. Great fries too. I usually have most of my fries gone before I get home! My roommate and I will split a sandwich because they are so big. Either that or if we each get a sandwich and we save half for the next day! The staff are always very cheerful and helpful! We checked this spot out after a hike nearby and it was a great find ! We got their 2 meat sandwich, a hotdog, burger, cream of crab soup & fries! The sandwich and hot dog were so delicious! Very tender and flavorful!! The burger was done too well for our liking and ended up being super dry. In the midst of ordering so much food for 2 ppl we realized afterwards the cashier never asked how we wanted to burger cooked. Oh well! The fries were delicious too but what fries aren't ? Great spot for lunch after hiking at North Point State Park. The meats were good, we tried the pit beef and put ham. I love pit ham. The house made sauces were delicious, I forget the name of their main house sauce but it was really tasty! Only complaint is the Kaiser roll was a bit dry and fell apart while eating, I wish it was on a potato roll instead. Fries were delicious! They have a lot of options on the menu, good looking deserts and tons of chips and miscellaneous items to purchase at the counter. For instance we got a container of local honey for a really good price! The food did take a while, so don't be in a rush to get in and out here! A really good pit beef place! I am picky about my pit beef and hate when the meat is tough or fatty, but this place serves lean, well cooked meats! They are not greedy with their portions either so be prepared to not finish the whole thing. We skipped the fries this time so we could enjoy the sandwich. They are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays but open pretty much all day on the rest of the week. My sandwich was 7 and it was just pit beef while my husbands was 8 and he got all three meats (for a dollar more!). This will be our new spot for a pit sandwhich! Only downside is the pit beef could use a bit more flavor but it was so tender that I enjoyed it with a little mayo, mustard, and some onions. We stumbled upon Cruiser's by pure dumb luck. We were on our way to lacrosse game and as luck would have it, the GPS took is right by Cruiser's on the way to the game. Right then and there we decided to stop on the way home and I'm glad that we did. We got a pit beef, pit beef/turkey combo, cheeseburger, and two orders of fries. Let's start with the burger...it was good but I've definitely had better. However, my wife and son enjoyed it and said they'd get it again. So, it was a win in my book. Pit beef sandwich...very good. We got it rare and it was almost perfectly cooked. Not too much seasoning and the beef to bun ratio was leaning more towards the beef side which is always nice. Pit beef/turkey combo...again, the pit beef was delicious and coupled with the turkey it made for a slam dunk of a sandwich. The only thing I was disappointed about with the sandwiches was that there was no Tiger sauce or au jus like other pit beef joints offer and you have to put the condiments on the sandwich after the fact; which was tough for us since we were taking ours to go and would have had to re-wrap everything. So, we opted to keep things wrapped up and forego the condiments. However, Cruiser's does have a condiments bar with almost everything you need to customize your sandwich your way. The fries...I love French fries but I'm particular about my fries as well. I'm always skeptical of fresh cut fries because they can get over-cooked and dried out if cut too thin or if cooked too long. So, I was hesitant to order fries from Cruiser's but we wanted the entire experience and you can't eat pit beef without the fries. Good thing we got them because all of the reviews were correct when they said Cruiser's has great fries. The fries are fresh cut but cut extra thick. So, it's difficult to burn them or get them too crispy which was great.
