My family loves having breakfast at Andy's Diner. So much food that we always have leftovers for lunch. Delicious food and I love the Andy's fries. The Cali Baby Babe omelet is my favorite.

I have been wanting to try Andy's Diner for a while now and I finally did last week! I got the huevos ranchos 3-egg omelet - it was really good. The service was very fast - less than 7 minutes to get my food and the waitress was very nice. She was the only waitress on the floor and she was rocking it! My coffee cup was never empty. I believe it was $12 with tip so a good value too. I will definitely try this spot again - maybe for lunch! Thank you!

So happy we found this spot for breakfast. Solid food and reasonable prices. My husband enjoyed the biscuits & gravy (white cream gravy is the only true way to do this!)-- said he wished there was more gravy. I tried out the chicken & waffle sandwich. The chicken itself was a little dry, wished it was brined or something to make it more moist. But the waffle was solid and those Andy's fries were my favorite!!! They have a great breakfast selection with many of your standard options to choose from. Sizeable portions too. Friendly service. Clean restaurant. Would definitely visit here again if I'm visiting the UP.

Quick service, nice waitress and very large portions for just under $30 for two people. I must say I was a bit hesitant to go in as it's dark from the outside, but it's clean on the inside and the food was great. We will definitely be back. Thanks Andy's Downtown Diner for the great food.

Amazing food. They make their own bacon and pork belly. Homemade chips and homemade pickles. Everything was fantastic!!! Very friendly and relaxed. Love love loved it!! What a find! The photo is of my pork belly sandwich w roasted peppers

We were going to go there on Saturday morning but they are closed. They should update the times if they are open sometimes.

This restaurant is permanently closed. Drove by on the way to the Swedish Pantry. There is a for sale sign in the window.

The restaurant is still small and at 10 am- full! We had a larger party of 6 and luckily the waitress asked a couple (no food yet) to please move from the 6-seater they were at to a 4-seater, as we were ready to say "uncle" and leave without ordering. Back in the day, Rosy would have never let 2 people sit at a table for 6. As for the food- the giant pancake was a standout. Huge and thick and yummy! Loaded with butter and syrup the entire table ate pieces of it. I had a cheeseburger and fries, it was good- not special but ok. I think the hash remains a favorite of my fellow diners. You can now get hash everyday (back in Rosy's time- it was a twice a week treat). Service is overall a bit slow- but cooking space is limited and they were busy- so it was expected. It's still a cash only business. So bring your dollars, patience, and an appetite!

No? Nobody? Just me? Damnit. The silver lining? A wonderful breakfast meal and cheap to boot! Since I realized I'm part idiot (and not the good part), I decided to eat breakfast at my accidental restaurant. Mostly because I was already sitting in the booth and did NOT want to admit defeat. And boy howdy, am I glad I did! I ordered the French toast, eggs, and bacon. Two toasts, two eggs, and about three bacons. And a breakfast Coke (which is normal coke, but in the morning). First off, the eggs. I only eat scrambled eggs because I'm a child. Salt and pepper, then into my mouth. I don't like creamy scrambled eggs and I don't like scrambled eggs that get that weird skin on them for cooking too long. These ones were perfect. I garbled them down. My trick is to heavily salt and pepper them THEN cut them up and mix them together to disperse the seasoning. Eggs 10/10 The French toast? Perfect. Good size slices, a ball of butter on top (thankfully enough to spread over all four triangles), and a ramekin of syrup. They were the perfect portions. The FT (French toast) had the best sponginess and fluffiness. French Toast (FT) 10/10 Finally. The bacon. Look. I am a huss for bacon. I'll do some shady sh** for some good bacon. But I ain't going back to prison. I always ALWAYS request my bacon be floppy. Some places call it limp. I call mine floppy. Because I'm a professional. A lot of places struggle on what floppy should look like. I've had floppy bacon I could put through a plate glass window. I've broken a piece of floppy bacon on a table edge and shanked somebody (see prior prison comment). But here? This place? Sweetie pie, I could tie my shoes with this bacon it's so floppy. I could lasso a baby calf with this floppy a** bacon. If you don't believe me, I attached a photo of what floppy bacon should look like. Professional Floppy Bacon 12/10. I would also like to mention the Coke this place served was top tier. It's like it's chilled prior to coming out the fountain dispenser. It just went down SO smooth. Drink some. Also. It's a medium-quiet place. Family friendly. Has that down home look and feel.

The waiter urged…read moreselection of 3 sides for my cousin - and, since my wife likes sweet potato fries, added the sweet potato fries to her order for steak and shrimp plus 3 sides. I ordered the cod and 2 sides (reduced to two pieces of cod) from the same menu. at that time, NO mention was made of price changes for the sides. We think - if the menu says 3 sides included - that they should not incur an 'add-on' charge - the word INCLUDED doesn't mention additional cost. those that incur a cost should be separated from the selections that are included, and not listed mixed into the included ones. We dined, but the waiter apparently does not have much experience - and had to be asked for steak sauce, and shrimp sauce. Those normally are either offered at time of order - or brought with the steak and shrimp. When I received the bill, I was surprised that the "included sides" had been charged and the price for them changed from what shows on the menu. When I protested that isn't what the menu states - the other waiter (older and maybe more experienced), said that the owner increased prices on the add-on sides. I replied, "that isn't what the menu lists and I'm not paying for increases not listed." I consider this deceptive advertising - it would have taken only a few minutes to adjust their printed menu prices with an ink pen and be 'up front' with diners about the prices one is expected to pay. I wonder how long it will take before the prices are either inked in to be accurate or reprinted menus provided... I don't know what others think about this, or how many others actually look at the prices - - but I plan to find other places to dine out when I come to visit my cousin for a couple weeks a year. The bar two doors over has great food too - and their menu reflects the prices that are on your bill. I looked at the Jacks online menu today, May 8, and the higher prices for add-on sides shows there. The increases/changes are not reflected in the in-restaurant printed menus as of May 7. Things like that might have something to do with the rather sparse turnout last evening or it could be some other factor in play. Years ago, Jacks was always crowded when we came to visit.

We didn't have any plans for dinner so my companion started looking for acceptable options on his iPhone. "How about this one," he said. "The 'Fresh Water Tavern' in Gladstone. Gladstone is just a few miles away." Having been to the Terrace Bay Hotel recently I said, "Actually, it's just down the hallway." "Really!" He replied. "Yep, it's the restaurant and bar right here in the hotel," I said. "Let's go!" He replied. And so we walked from our room to the bar. Once seated at the bar we ordered drinks. I went for a dry martini with one of my favorite gins -- which was properly mixed and chilled. Since we were in need of dinner too, we checked out the menu. Lots of good options. I decided to try the whitefish sandwich. It was excellent. A nice filet on a decent roll with the right amount of sauce and crunchy veggies. I'd definitely eat it again. Generic but decent fries along side of the sandwich made for a nice meal after our first day on the road. I didn't expect to find five star food in Gladstone, but tasty three star food with a properly mixed cocktail at the hotel restaurant/bar after a long drive is actually worthy of four -- so kudos to the Freshwater Tavern!
