Food wasn't anything special that you couldn't get at other breakfast joints. Typical breakfast food. But the service is bad here. Got sat next to the restroom and I asked our waitress if we can move to another table. She looked at me and asked with a tone as if they were packed "where else did you want to move to?" I looked at her and pointed to 3-4 empty tables. And she said to me "I'd prefer you not move" After that interaction, she wasn't friendly afterwards. Loved everything about this place! When I travel, I love to stop at hometown style diners for breakfast. Small but mighty! B's is a hidden gem. The menu is no nonsense breakfast goodness. If you are really hungry they have something for that. If you just want something small like a biscuit or bagel, they have that as well. Everything is made to order right there on the flat top grill. Voted best omelet in the area in 2021 for good reason, it's just plain good. Delicious hasbrowns. Plentiful coffee. Portions are a good size as well. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The staff does their best to make the place run as well as possible. There is not a lot of staff, but they are nice and very welcoming. Not much for decor - just a simple place with friendly people serving good, honest food. I had flown in to Iron Mountain on an early morning flight, without the opportunity to grab breakfast first. When I got into town, I dropped in to B's for breakfast. I had a very tasty western omelette, with wonderful, thickly-sliced toast made from bread that's baked in-house. Had breakfast - Omelet and Biscuits with Gravy. Omelet was very good well prepared and tasty, it was served with a side of home fries which were also very good. Also had whole wheat toast made from the home made bread, unfortunately the baker doesn't add enough water when making the dough so the bread was gritty and crumbly instead of chewy (this is just a strange texture). The biscuit was fresh made and had great taste, unfortunately I had them put Sausage "Gravy" on it. The "Gravy" was an unknown liquid thickened with Corn Starch with a few sausage chunks. i say unknown because the "Gravy" lacked any defined flavor aside from corn starch and looked like a liquid plastic due to thickening it with corn starch. Close attempt to make an outstanding breakfast but some significant misses with the bread and "gravy". I put gravy into quotes because gravy requires a roux and aside from your school cafeteria gravy should never be made with corn starch. read more

Food was good but the lady that was working behind the counter was a horrible person to her employee. There was a young girl working there looked to be around 20 or younger. The older woman behind the counter kept talking about how "the old woman has to do everything around here" which was BS. The young girl was working harder than the old lady. The old lady kept saying clean those tables, do this do that!! Why didn't the old lady get off her booty and do some work and quit being so hateful to her employee. I will never go there again, have some respect for the people that work for you and be a kind good person. Help is difficult to find and you are lucky to have someone willing to work in such a horrible environment. She kept talking about how she had not used her sprinkler system this year if that breaks it down to who the lady was working today. Originally, I wasn't much of a fan of B's. Though I had been there many times, I had a strong preference for a similar place in nearby Florence. But, I've really come to enjoy the food and atmosphere. They are good people who hustle to give a great meal in as short of time as possible. You order and it seems like it's served piping hot a few minutes later! The food is always great. Sometimes you have to wait a bit for a table but it really is worth it. I was wrong. We have the absolute worst experience. Called and ordered breakfast and asked for steak and eggs to go. We were asked how we wanted the steak done. We got all the way home and had bacon and eggs so we called and asked if we could come back for the steak. We got attitude on the phone and were told we didn't have steak on the receipt but could come back for it. When we went back we again got the very rude service and the cook was very loudly making rude remarks the entire time we had to sit and wait for the steak that we paid for after coming back (regardless of the fact we called they had not started it). The entire 15 minutes we sat one of the biggest tables was left dirty and with dishes regardless of the fact there was a family with 2 small children waiting to be seated. Wow, where do I start? The coffee was horrible. I think when the Army was writing their cadence, "Gee, Mom, I Wanna Go Home," they tasted this coffee and wrote the line, "It looks like muddy water and tastes like turpentine." Although I think turpentine would be an improvement. I asked if they served sandwiches or salads, zince I don't eat breakfast food, the server looked at me like I'd landed from another planet, grabbed my menu which I was holding and forcibly moved the pages to the breakfast pages, saying loudly, "We serve BREAKFAST at BREAKFAST TIME!" My husband asked for eggs over easy and wheat toast. He was served eggs over hard and toast that was stale and burnt beyond recognition. The server barely looked at us when she served us, yelling over her shoulder to someone else sitting at the counter. Neither of us have a Yooper accent, so she must have thought we were passing through, instead of being actual residents here. When we got the cheque, she became all sunshine and rainbows, mentioning that my husband can leave a tip on the receipt, with a bright smile and trying to make small talk about the weather. She ignored us the entire time we were at the table, trying to flag her down for orange juice since we couldn't drink the coffee, no matter how much cream and sugar my husband added. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. We went to eat on 1/20/24 around noon and got no welcome when we walked in just some dirty looks from the workers. We continued to sit down unsure if we were supposed to seat ourselves or wait for someone but after a couple minutes we just sat at a table. About 5-8 minutes later a server came up to us and plainly said "what to drink", we ordered coffee and a kid's chocolate milk. A few minutes later she returned with our watery coffee and expired tasting kids milk (unfortunately found that out after we ordered food). They were pretty quick to make the food and bring it out but somehow it was very lukewarm and honestly didn't even smell that great. We had ordered a ham and cheese omelette and pancakes. So we started to devour the food before it got too cold. Well weren't we pretty upset to find multiple pieces of hair (the same color as the cooks) in not one but BOTH our meals!!! The server never came back to ask how our food was until we were standing there practically having to stare her down. She came over and asked how everything was (if we continued to eat we would have been done about 10 minutes prior). I told her we had found hair in both our meals and even showed her on my plate exactly where it was on my plate. She went to tell the cook and the helper cook ladies and they VERY loudly asked the server where and she said she didn't see anything. The cooks kept just saying "where", "I don't see anything", etc. finally the server came back and gave us our check and I told her I'm not paying for a meal that i took two bites out of because they can't afford to wear hairnets. She said then i can just pay for the drinks as those were very terrible and we took a sip out of them. I laid $7 (just for drinks, kinda pricey) and left. No goodbye or have a nice day comment. WORST place I have ever been too. I have never been treated so poorly by a server as I was also a server for 6 years myself at better food chains, so i know how it goes. Just soo poor. Not to mention that I asked for a booster seat and the server said her son fell out of one so she brought a highchair. My wife and I were passing through Iron Mountain on Sunday morning and decided to stop by B's Cafe for breakfast. We were completely ignored by the entire staff. While we sat at our table, we watched as other groups of people came in and were served. The servers continued to walk past us and would not acknowledge us. By the time the third group of people came in after us and were served, it became very clear that we were not welcome there. My wife is a beautiful darker skinned woman from the Philippines. I didn't want to believe that we were discriminated against by prejudice people just because of the color of her skin, but after reading other reviews that referenced racial slurs that people heard while they were there, it is the only logical conclusion I can come up with. The food is ok at best. 3 star quality. The hostess seated us at a booth, which was nice, but the table hadn't been cleaned, and we saw this happen to other guests as well. No one actually greeted us, all we got was a simple "You know what you want?" from the server. Food prep time was average. Our meals were slightly greasy, and about the quality I'd expect at a Perkins or Denny's. The coffee is bad. Drinkable yes, but it had faint hints of dishwater and charcoal. Service here is lackluster overall. The staff rarely checked on us, and dropped the check off and walked away. Food- 2.5-3 stars. Service- 1 star. Eat here if it's convenient, but there are other options in town I'd recommend more. Like Dalla's. Go there instead. read more
