I've always had fond memories of Andy's from my time in Evanston, so when my family and I moved to the western suburbs, I was excited to see this Andy's in Bolingbrook. Overall, the items are quite delicious and reminiscent of what I remember. Yummy! I love frozen custard. This is one of the best things the Midwest has introduced me too. I happened upon this Andy's by happenstance, so if you're not from Bolingbrook or one of the nearby suburbs it's probably pretty easily missed. As it's summer, and its peach season, one of their specials was a peach concrete or peach sundae. I will admit that the peach concrete was pretty good, but I'm glad I stuck with my standard strawberry banana concrete. One thing that's somewhat disappointing is that even in the era of COVID, they haven't made any changes to their ordering scheme. They're "old fashioned", so even at the drive-up you have to order directly from the window--no speakers to order from here. It gets insanely busy here; luckily I was there when there was only one or two other cars there, but by the time I was heading out there was a like of 5-7 out the parking lot. ANY GIVEN SUNDAE Nothing says summer quite like Andy's Frozen Custard. Last year was the first time I got to experience Andy's, and now we've got two--2!--in Bolingbrook to choose from. There's a location on Boughton & Rt 53, plus this one on Weber just north of Lily Cache Ln. During warmer weather (June-Sept), this place gets absolutely buzzin' between the hours of 6-9pm, even moreso on weekends and holidays. The drive thru line can stretch more than a dozen cars long, but their system runs smooth like caramel. Just like at Portillo's, an order taker with a tablet comes over to your car--hopefully you've peeped the menu ahead of time or have committed your "go-to" to memory--and you simply drive to the pickup window having already paid. Don't panic if you can't make up your mind, they'll circle back to you....but don't dawdle. My wife's favorite is the key lime cheesecake concrete ($6), a seasonal treat that's only available during the summer months. Then there's the Rico Suave jackhammer ($7 for a medium): vanilla custard blended with pecans & Oreo bits, filled with a hot fudge core. I'm still amazed when someone can finish a sugar bomb like this in a single sitting. They've got a ton of toppings to pick from: 'fruity' (bananas, pineapple, cherries), 'crunchy' (pretzel pieces, heath bar, M&Ms), 'chewy' (cookie dough, crushed nuts), and 'drizzly' (mint syrup, butterscotch). First topping is always included, additional stuff is 85¢ extra. Some of the presets (like the 'AJ almondinger') might not be your cup of tea, so customizing can be a wise choice. It's not crazy expensive. Prices are comparable to Culver's concrete mixers and Dairy Queen blizzards, usually $5-8 depending on size. Last time we were here, they gave us a coupon for a free sundae with any $10 purchase. I signed up for Andy's rewards program; we'll no doubt become frequent flyers once our little guy is old enough for desserts. * TL;DR * DQ is good for a quick dilly bar and Oberweis has certain appeal, but when you feel like spoiling yourself, head to Andy's. I'm just a Southern California visitor writing about frozen custard. I shared in another review that it's not really a thing in SoCal.  The only places I know of locally is Rita's in OC, CA, Shake Shack in Los Angeles area, and just recently tipped by a yelp friend --Joe Schmoe's in OC, CA.   Frozen custard is a cold dessert similar to ice cream but, made w/eggs in addition to cream and sugar.  I had a lil taste and it seems to have a very smooth consistency. When trying something new, I just go w/a conservative flavor like vanilla. I like it! Hubby likes Andy's Frozen Custard a lot! The ones we visited or passed by have a very busy drive thru! Best custard in the Midwest. Weekends in the summer are very busy. Their frozen custard is made through out the day. Most of the locations I've seen are drive thur with only some seating and mostly outdoor. The custard is always fresh and delicious. Andy's has that old fashion vibe well lite and bright. As you approach the place, There's an exciting factor knowing your in for a good treat. The only thing I would say as a customer is not knowing the menu well they usually have a team member taking orders before you get to the menu board. I understand they are being proactive in controlling the long Lines but it's exciting see all the options they offer. read more

[COVID-19 Drive-Thru Review] As the weather gets warmer, I'd imagine Andy's drive-thru would be super busy! Luckily, the weekend we visited wasn't too warm so the drive-thru was easy breezy! We drove up to the look at the menu and there was a masked-attendant ready to take our orders. Within minutes our order was ready and handed to us. I ordered the Strawberry shortcake Sunday and it was so good! There were 2 scoops of vanilla custard, 2 shortcake, and topped with fresh cut strawberries. There are so many great choices at Andy's. Custard is the creamiest most smooth frozen treat and Andy's knows how to do it right. I usually get a concrete, and especially love the peanut butter and Oreo ones. The Italian ice mixed with custard is also amazing and you should try it at least once. We were first time visitors to Andy's on a Saturday night. The place was busy, but not horrible. However, their parking situation is a nightmare. We had to park on street behind the building and walk in. I have no idea who all those cars parked there belong to, unless they allow their employees to park up their own lot. The custard was good, but not stellar, almost like traditional ice cream in that it lacked the traditional "custard" smoothness. Prices are a little high, so you do not "get what you pay for" in this case. I think the best part was sitting in the waiting area and watching the people. Too bad the area needed cleaning up; several used custard cups sitting under the benches from people too lazy to put them in the trash receptacles . read more

We LOVE Andy's frozen custard! What's not to adore?! -the friendliest staff ever -an incredible, giant menu of decadent treats -a drive thru! -LATE hours! Got a craving for custard at 10pm?! NO problem when there's an Andy's nearby! -you can never get lost going to Andy's because their lights are so bright, I'm fairly certain you can see it from space. A-N-D-Y! I may or may not have been cheering that with each spoonful. Oh my goodness this custard is what dreams are made of. I have a sensitivity to dairy but this was WORTH it. I got a custom concrete which is vanilla frozen custard blended with a topping of your choice. I chose peanut butter, of course because it's my all time favorite. The consistency of this custard is what is so amazing. I thought I could use a straw for it because it almost looked like a shake but NOPE. It's so thick and creamy and you can really taste the topping that's blended. I also adore the outdoor seating and window that you walk up to order from. It's gives you an old-time simpler days feel. People were actually off their phones and talking to one another while they enjoyed their custards- how crazy is that?! I didn't get a photo because I was pretty unplugged too on our date night but I can tell you, you need to plan some time on the next perfect summer night and give this custard a try! read more

I love how they deal with little kids and treat them very very well.
