After having dinner with friends down the road, I slipped into Anejo to celebrate Cinco de Mayo and grabbed a house margarita and 2 Chimichurri Steak Tacos. The Margarita was STRONG AF. Like I don't know if it wasn't mixed well, or they heavy handed it, but I wasn't mad about it at all. The steak tacos were delicious and very flavorful. I'd get these again and again in heartbeat. Service at the bar was great. Food arrived faster than expected, but I had also got there as their night was winding down. My friends and I were originally going to eat here for Cinco de Mayo, but when I got there at 6:45, I was told it would be a 3.5 hour wait. They had a DJ outside pumping out fast and upbeat music for the party and an outside margarita stand for grab and go drinks. When I arrived back just after 9, I had told them to take us off the list. She informed me that they tried calling me. Nothing came through on my phone, but she did show her call log and sure enough, it showed they called me around 8:20. My friends and I probably would have stayed to eat here originally had we been given a more realistic wait time guesstimate. An hour and a half wait vs 3.5 hours is much more feasible. Oh well. I'm sure I'll be back in the future. I've always enjoyed Anejo. read more

Great sunset spot! Came in for dinner time just as sun was setting. Beautiful looking over the plaza. Service was quick and friendly. I got the keto steak taco which was amazing. The steak was delicious and the flavor of the keto cheese shell with the guacamole was delicious pairing with the steak. Also got the Hawaiian taco which had avocado, chicken, shrimp, and pineapple. We've been to dozens of Mexican restaurants over the years, and while the food at Añejo Cocina Mexicana on Riverside Avenue is fantastic, the true standout of our experience was Armando. Armando confidently took our entire order without writing a single thing down. I was certain something would be forgotten -- but nope. Everything arrived perfectly, and candidly, each course came out faster than I've ever seen at a Mexican restaurant. The timing was flawless. Beyond that, he was genuinely nice, funny, and completely exceeded expectations in every way. Service like that is rare. I'm already a big fan of Añejo's in Ponte Vedra, but this experience with Armando is tough to beat. Highly recommend the Añejo Burrito Loco (fair warning: it could easily be shared by three people) and the habanero salsa -- which you have to ask for, and is absolutely worth it. My bestie and I enjoyed a delightful Sunday afternoon at the restaurant and was seated outside with a nice view of Riverside / Brooklyn area. Our server was wonderful--patient and attentive. The appetizers were excellent: the Cheese Dip was luscious and gooey. The Pork Belly Bites were phenomenal--crispy, succulent, and perfectly deep fried. My Virgin Mojito was refreshingly sweet and zesty. The 3 Tacos Asada featured robust, chargrilled meat, paired with soft, well-cooked rice and beans. The Hawaiian Taco was a flavor standout delivering a perfect balance of sweet, salty, and umami. Loving the avocado and pineapple bits with the chicken. I was in town visiting and this place was highly recommended for its food. First, let's talk about the place. It's very spacious and clean and honestly makes a great first impression as you walk in. Parking can be a bit tricky since there's a small lot at the front or in the appartement complex behind the building. Once inside and seated, we asked to be relocated because our table was very wobbly at the joint. The service was okay. They were quick to tend to us, bring our drinks and foods. They did, however, forget the table's order of queso and we had to remind them of it. They also never came around to check if we had everything or to refill our waters. Finally, the food. Honestly, it was really good. I ordered the carnitas enchiladas and a strawberry mojito. It was all delicious and filling. The meat was tender and the rice was well seasoned. Came here with a party of 12 ladies. A few of them had been before and said it was so good that we had to try it. I can agree and recommend it was great. We did not have reservations, but they were able to seat us quickly. Our waiter was fantastic. (I just can't remember his name). With a large party like that, there are bound to be hiccups, with that said there was one order that they just couldn't get right, and my friend decided to cancel it. Outside of that everything was wonderful. The Cadillac margarita one of the best I've had. The quesadillas, tacos, and taco salad all got rave reviews. They have pet friendly outdoor seating for pet parents. Parking was a little hard to get unless you use the parking garage nearby. Brought my Mother here for an early supper before our date with the Jax Symphony. We found a space right by the door and walked in. It took some time for someone to seat us but once we were seated, a server approached us and took care of us. I got the Anejo Grilled Octopus and she got the Enchilada Chicken and Spinach. My Octopus was fantastic! Three big tenacles that took some time to eat as there was some chewiness to it. This made me so happy. I came to visit family in Ponte Vedra and we ordered take out and oops, I didn't know there was a Riverside location!!! When I called to apologize about the confusion whoever answered the phone was SO NICE that we decided to head there for lunch while on a downtown excursion. Our server Miguel was SO NICE and made us THE BEST Mescal margaritas we've ever had, and we've had a lot so that is saying something! I asked for the manager to tell him how great his staff is and he was also SO NICE! The food was delicious too. Anejo is a chain but what it was for me was the closest restaurant I could sit at after walking four miles all day. This is the place near the animal shelter. For some reason the first thought when people encounter chain Mexican restaurants is it's inauthentic. Corporate does tend to ruin stuff. Whether intentional or not all the staff seems to be Hispanic here so hopefully that isn't just to avoid that stereotype. It's good to me regardless. All Mexican food is Americanized to an extent. Definitely don't get the nachos if you want authentic as those chips are very obviously out of the bag. But the three salad options are taco salad and two fairly boring Americanized ones for friends you bring who hate Mexican food I guess. Not sure. Cobb salad is boring in general. This taco salad though. I'd say it's just one giant taco. It's only a salad in the sense they throw it all together but it isn't even half lettuce, so don't get this as a light menu option. If you don't know by now taco salad doesn't count as healthy I dunno what to tell you. It was good though. Fresh guac and served on a hot plate with a delicious crispy fried flour shell, melted cheese, and the shredded chicken was seasoned and moist. Their apps are on the cheaper side too but only the empanadas seemed interesting so I went with a safe bet. I think it paid off. I'd come back. I came here for lunch with a friend. It was pretty empty for lunch, but maybe the rush hadn't started yet. It is in a high rise condo building in the heart of Brooklyn. Server was very friendly and helpful with the menu. We opted to start with the guacamole. I ordered the shrimp taco on a blue corn tortilla. Food came out very quickly. The guacamole was fresh, bright, and had large chunks of perfectly ripe avacado. It was delicious. The shrimp on the taco were also cooked perfectly. My biggest complaint/issue was the tortilla. It was so tough, and cold, and with it being doubled you couldn't even bite through it. It distracted from the filling to the point that I just dumped it out and ate it with a fork and left the tortilla. It did not feel like a "complete" taco at that point. Even warming it for a bit would have helped tremendously. Will be back to try other items. Just not the blue corn! read more

While we didn't get the name of our waitress, service was lovely on the Tuesday evening we went. We expected a little wait, but we're pleasantly surprised to be seated upon walking in. We ordered the Anejo Naked Ceviche, which for a first timer on ceviche like me was delicious! Our entrees were a build your own combo with tacos and then an order of chile rellenos. I personally wouldn't order the chile rellenos from here again as they got fairly soggy. Something about this place feels kind of bougie, although it's not any one thing in particular. Maybe it's the location? It's on a nice strip in Riverside, near a bunch of luxury apartments. There's a fountain out front that gives the air of refined elegance. It's not intimidating though. The interior is not pretentious, casual but crisp and clean. It's nice enough that you can bring business colleagues or out of town guests for food and drinks. I've had several people tell me they come just for happy hour. Nice atmosphere for sure. The food is pretty good, I'd say it's solid. Portions are good, the menu is decent, but lacking some of the boldness in flavor you'd expect from a traditional Mexican restaurant. Pictured below is the carne asada platter I got during my last trip. This is probably my favorite thing I've ordered here. I've also tried their enchiladas and a couple of tacos. I've been three times now and I will say the service has always been slow. I came twice when it was pretty packed, but also once during lunch when there really weren't a lot of people in the restaurant. The service quality was the same. Overall it's a nice enough spot and the food is good enough if you want Mexican but something a little nicer atmosphere wise. I'll be back and looking forward to trying some other things on the menu. read more
