There's a bit of a routine that I've experienced a few times. " This tooth is ______ and we should _____. We should take care of this as soon as possible. Do you have time today?" After a couple 'emergencies' over the years, I caught on. My last 'emergency', about 10 years ago, required the pulling of multiple teeth. I declined and got a second opinion. Those teeth are still in my mouth as I write this review and that money is still in my pocket. The friend who initially recommended me had a similar experience and has since moved on as well. Word to the wise, just be on your guard.

I've had a root canal performed and a cap put on my tooth by Dr. Oliver and he showed care and professionalism in his work. Experience was painless (wasn't stingy with the novocaine) and my new tooth looks great!

I don't have major dental issues so I just let it be since it is so close to work. Then this most recent time, I was falsely billed for evaluation when I only had cleaning done that day. When I called to clarify the charges on the bill, they said it was documented in my chart that evaluation was done by a dentist though that never occurred. The practice manager said she will take the charge off the bill though it already went through insurance .... I paid for the cleaning and definitely won't go back.

When I asked for a receipt to be emailed to me, the front desk clerk refused to do so. He was very unpleasant and rude, acting like the whole world was depending on him. When I asked again to be sent the receipt digitally, he started to yell, telling me that the system wouldn't let him do so and that he would have done it in the next half an hour. Needless to say, I never received it. Another thing that is really annoying and shouldn't have ever happened in the first place is that while I was at dental cleaning appointment, the dental hygienist made a small hole in between my two front teeth (which I later needed to fix, of course at the other dental office). I was in such pain after the appointment that I didn't notice it at first. I just wanted to get out of that office as soon as possible. Respecting an appointment time is something that is unknown at Hirshberg Wozny Dental Group. Wait time can go up to an hour which is very frustrating. All in all, horrible experience and I wouldn't recommend Hirshberg Wozny Dental Group to anyone.

The notice said it was my "final notification before collections" -- yet this was literally the first time I had ever been contacted about it. The office has my email and cell number, and they regularly text me for appointments, but never once sent any email, text, or call about this balance. They said they had mailed letters, but I had moved and had specifically informed the office of my new address, so they knew mailed statements wouldn't reach me. Despite that, they never used any of the contact methods I actually receive. The charge itself was for fluoride, which I never would have agreed to if I had known it wasn't covered by my insurance. It was $98 -- something that could easily be written off considering the circumstances. When I explained everything and asked them to comp it, I was told the staff member "did not have the authority" to adjust the balance. But after I mentioned that I would leave an honest review describing the situation, suddenly she did have the ability to offer 25% off. That made it clear that the earlier "I don't have the authority" line was simply a pressure tactic, not the truth. Overall, the lack of communication, the inaccurate claim that I had received multiple notices, and the sudden shift in what they "could" do once I pushed back all felt really unprofessional. I would recommend being extremely cautious with this office, especially around billing and transparency.
