My little dog, Max was euthanized at the animal specialty hospital in San Marcos, California and they recommended angel paws Pet Mortuary they even gave me the directions. took the remains of my beloved to this guy, and I should've walked out as soon as I went into his business. It wasn't very organized. It was very small. He had old couch that was leather. It was so nice so that's why I left my beloved Max with him and he said he would take extra care when he was cremated and he would give his ashes in this little brown box that I picked out. I noticed he me back and it was like two months and when I left a never called me back six months. He left a voicemail saying I could pick up his ashes, but then by that time he was permanently closed due to fraud So I brought my little to his place of business June 2, 2025 so I'm pretty sure my little Max is in one of those white non-commercial freezers and he's probably at the bottom thank God there are people that are helping us owners that never received our pets ashes, and this guy needs to go to prison and needs to be in a courthouse where owners can be there. I just can't imagine all the people that never their pets ashes and they're probably deteriorated stacked on top of each other with no separation so there's no way I'm gonna go in there and look for my little Max. On YouTube, there's a news channel that was videotaping a woman that was trying to get into the building, and the owner just sat at his desk, didn't even open the door. She had to call the sheriff, and she went in there looking for her dog and she had to go through six non-commercial freezers and she found him. She said the smell was horrific, and there was a the floor because all the freezers packed with dead animals. The owners in the process of his gas was turned why he was unable to cremate animals thank God the building owner turn off the to all those freezers. And all these Pet owners paid him upfront so I paid over $225 which I probably won't ever get back and I wanted a cute little brown wooden box with a cute little dog face on the front and the owner said he would make sure I get the one I picked out. I wish I would never have gone inside that place and if I did, I should've just walked out. Just thinking about my beloved Max being in one of those freezers I'm pretty sure he's at the bottom of one of those freezers probably frozen with other animals. a picture of my beloved He was 16 years old showed me so much compassion unconditionally.

I used Angel Paws at the end of May. My aunt paid for our dog to be cremated and paid for expedited cremation as well. I didn't get my remains back until June 5th. I had to constantly call and get updates from Chris and those were a hit and miss. He said he would personally bring my dog's remains back to me on specific date then it turned into oh can I bring them the next day. Then that turned into a different day. Eventually he brought me my dog's remains. I found out about Angel Paws closing from scrolling Facebook yesterday 10/08/2025 and saw the Channel 8 news feed. I now wonder if I even have the correct remains. I wish and pray I do. But now seeing this did I just bitch enough and Chris just gave me remains or did I actually get my dog's remains. I emailed the bestfriendsunitedsd@gmail.com email on channel 8 website and gave my name, my pets description and contact info so that when the Landlord Manny gets access he can verify if my pet is still there. I can't believe this man wasn't honest with his customers and could have said he was at capacity and not able to take any more pets at this time. So that way he could focus on providing services to the families that had pets there the last few months.

I want my pets remains. This is unconscionable. I dropped off my sweet dog on July 8th. After one phone call where Chris told me his remains were ready, only to go down and be told that he was not, in August, I have not heard back. My sweet Dinky was my constant companion. He is in heaven which gives me peace, but I deserve closure.

Our veterinarian sent our cat, Casey to Angel Paws around the end of July for a private cremation service. We never got her back and have heard nothing. The owners, Chris Settle and Dan Settle are not responding to inquiries.

We came in to pick up our beloved Dante's ashes. Rob helped us with getting the box with his name engraved on it, his paw print, hair lock, engraved heart and death certificate. It was a hot day and there was a heavy scent to rotting flesh which I kind of expected. They look very busy and try to keep up with demands. Prior to coming in, I had spoken with Alex who told me that Dante was in good hands and would be ready for pick up on Friday. Losing a family member is always difficult. Regardless of it being human or fur baby. My heart is aching but I know my boy is no longer in pain.

    My fur baby, Edward!

Well. This review is very much long over due and I still don't know where to begin. My baby, Edward, crossed over the rainbow bridge 14 months ago and till this day, it never gets easier. I can just tell that Angel Paws put so much love into cremating my boy and putting his keepsakes together for my husband and me. When I picked him up from the vet's office, the bag itself, was just so beautiful. The custom tag with his name on it said a lot. We got some of his fur in a little jar, and a clay paw print which really meant so much to us, and of course, the urn he came in was beautiful as well, with a little gold plate. I cannot thank them enough for taking care of my boy. I highly recommend Angel Paws.

    Our little Nikki Girl
    Gale N.

We had our Nikki for only 7 years, she left us too soon. She passed away on her birthday at the age of 13. We watched her go from a weary, scared little corgi to a full tilt diva. Her attitude was "the whole world belongs to me." She went down hill fast and we lost her 2 weeks into her getting sick. It was too soon to say goodbye. She was adored by everyone. When I went to pick her up and take her home, I opened the bag expecting just the cedar box, but the tears started as I saw the little bag that had a locket of her fur and her paw print. Unxpected, but so much appreciated. I have her sitting at my desk as this was where she hung out when I worked. Thank you from the bottom of heart, for such a wonderful experience at one of the lowest days.

so sad I took my sweet Oreo (Black female Cocker Spaniel) to Angel Paws to get cremated on june 8th at 3:45 pm Oreo sadly passed away on a weekend and there wasn't a cremation place open down here in San Ysidro so i drove 55 minutes to San Marcos thinking it was a beautiful welcoming trust worthy place to get her cremated since i talked to the owner over the phone and he seemed very kind and welcoming, once i arrived I filled out a form and some other small papers he had i payed 250$ for the cremation and two additional necklaces that were going to have some of her ashes in there as well , I was so devastated that day didn't even realize he didn't give me a receipt once i arrived back home i called to ask him about the receipt he told me he would email it since there printer wasn't working atm he also said she would be ready for pick up on june 21st i kept calling and calling but only got an answer once and it was after june 21st he said she would be ready in about 2 more weeks, after that i called and called nonstop so did my husband and we got no answers after that i finally had enough and drove back up to Angel paws about 2 weeks ago and the place was closed my husband and i waited there 5 almost 6 hours and no one showed up, 2 women arrived in a white car turns out they work at a near by veterinary hospital and they've been working with Angel paws for over 10 years they are also having the same problem they took over 15 dogs to Angel paws to get cremated on the morning of june 8th and haven't gotten an answer back from the owner or any updates, this place is disgusting i am beyond devastated i just want my sweet Oreo back

Beautiful packaging the ashes, paw print and hair clippings came in.

She was incredibly warm, compassionate, and patient, guiding us through every step of the cremation process with genuine care. During such an emotional time, her kindness made all the difference. Don't let the exterior of the building fool you. From the outside, it looks like a simple building along a busy main road, but once you step inside, it's beautifully decorated, warm, inviting, and feels homey. They also offer a wide variety of thoughtful, personalized keepsakes and memorial options to honor your pet in a meaningful way. We dropped off our pet, and by the very next day we received a call that she was ready. The process was handled with professionalism, respect, and compassion from beginning to end. What stood out most was that it truly felt like a caring mom-and-pop business where every family and every pet matters. I can't recommend West Coast Pet Memorial highly enough. First and foremost, "individual cremation" is not actually individual cremation. It is partitioned cremation. "Private" is what I would consider truly private. The distinction is incredibly frustrating because the word "individual" naturally implies that a pet is cremated separately, not simply separated or partitioned from other pets. I had to put my dog, Winston, down on Wednesday. I specifically told the vet that I wanted an individual cremation, not a communal cremation. I then paid for what I believed was an individual cremation through the Eternal Memories website--not West Coast Pet Memorial's official website. Scam #1 . Nowhere on the site I used did I see that individual meant partitioned. I only discovered what was actually happening because I wanted to know where Winston was in the process on Friday. Had the company provided updates like other pet memorial companies do, I probably never would have known. Once I found out, I spent the entire weekend worried and praying that they had seen my email and would not cremate him until I could figure out what to do. Because the company was closed for the weekend, I had no way to get answers. I was literally considering picking Winston up and taking him to Sorrento Valley Pet Memorial, which sounded like a much better option. They offered truly private cremation, at approximately the same price, without the confusing terminology. They also offered the option for me to be present and actually watch the cremation. At that point, that felt like the only way I could know for certain that the ashes I received were Winston's. I know I was not in the right headspace . Monday morning, I finally received a call telling me that I could pay an additional $120 to have a truly private cremation. At that point, I honestly didn't have the energy to fight anymore. I had already spent days worrying about this and had come to terms with the fact that what I wanted for Winston might not be honored. I am incredibly disappointed by this entire experience. The terminology and pricing should be completely transparent. I received Winston's ashes in a "beautiful" blue bag, but will always have the doubt it's not Winston.

Thankfully, she was diagnosed with old dog vestibular syndrome and is doing well. I called ABC Veterinary and spoke with a gentleman at the front desk to explain everything that had happened. I specifically told him that I would still be bringing my dog to her scheduled appointment because I needed to speak with Dr. Meyer about her condition and how this would affect her upcoming surgery to remove a mass. The next day, my husband received a phone call asking whether we would be coming to the appointment because they had the impression that the owner of the dog was the one in the hospital. I don't understand how that message was communicated instead of the information I actually provided. When I arrived for the appointment, I was surprised to learn it had been scheduled as a technician visit for blood work only. I explained that I needed to speak with Dr. Meyer about my dog's care. I was then told that if I wanted to wait to see the doctor, I would have to pay an additional $75 because she didn't have time to see me right away. This was extremely frustrating. My dog had just spent the night in the emergency hospital, where she had already undergone blood work, X-rays, and an MRI. None of that information was discussed, and instead it felt like the only way I could have a conversation with the veterinarian about my dog's condition and planned surgery was by paying another fee. Good communication is essential, especially when a pet has experienced a medical emergency and is scheduled for surgery. Instead, I experienced poor communication, confusion, and a lack of concern for my dog's ongoing care. The focus seemed to be on additional charges rather than making sure everyone was informed and addressing my questions. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this office. I would encourage anyone looking for veterinary care to choose a practice that prioritizes communication, compassion, and continuity of care for both pets and their owners.

One acquaintance did call Peaceful Passing after I suggested it, and had a lovely experience with the service. I believe it was Dr. Boisse who visited her, but I'm not sure. So when the time came for my own rabbit to pass on, of course I called Peaceful Passing. The scheduling worked out ok: Abbey was helpful and compassionate, and a veterinarian was called to come to my home on fairly short notice (during those pandemic days when it was very hard to get a vet appointment anywhere). Unfortunately the vet who came out was neither Dr. Haver nor Dr. Boisse. She came to us after her regular work shift at a pet hospital, and frankly seemed tired and a bit rushed. This is understandable, under the circumstances, and on some level I appreciate her trying to "fit us in." But it did not contribute to a peaceful experience for us, and I feel that it would have been more ethical for the vet to decline an appointment she was not capable of performing appropriately. She also did not take her shoes off, which in times of the RHDV2 virus is just unacceptable. (We had other rabbits living with us.) But the worst part was that the vet clearly did not have rabbit experience, and should not be making house calls for rabbits. She scared our rabbits and did not know how to handle her little patient, who died in terror and confusion. The entire euthanasia experience took an eternity, and everything about it was absolutely traumatic for our entire family. I'm truly sorry to be so blunt, but it felt more like an execution than the peaceful euthanasia we had wanted for our little bunny girl. At the end the vet unceremoniously packed up our deceased rabbit's body and left in a hurry -- without giving us time to say good-bye, and with barely an "I'm sorry." I was so distressed after this experience that I couldn't even bring myself to write a review -- I just wanted to forget about the whole thing. But I had to call another home euthanasia service the other day for another beloved pet who was ready to go. And this was such a beautiful experience that it made my awful episode with Peaceful Passing feel even worse by comparison. I decided to finally leave my review, because I really do feel the need to warn others about what happened to us. I'm giving a second star only because I have to believe, based on everything I have heard about Peaceful Passing, that this must have been a horrible exception to their usual level of service. I have heard nothing but good things about Dr. Boisse and Dr. Haver, but I cannot recommend this other veterinarian at all. (She was not at the time, and is not now, listed on Peaceful Passing's website, so I don't know her name.)
