Review for the foccacia sandwiches that are made in this restaurant. On Uber Eats these are supposedly 4.8/5 stars and the best foccacia sandwiches in the area. Ordered 2 Italian Feast sandwiches and omg they were so bad. Pictures by the restaurant look nothing like what I actually got: 1. homemade focaccia bread - no way that's homemade, industrial made bread 2. thick big slices of tomatoes - nope got a dime slice paper thin tomato in each sandwich 3. fresh and green looking lettuce - floppy brown lettuce 4. fresh looking mozzarella cheese - it was hard to find the cheese in the sandwich 5. genoa salami / ham / pepperoni - the ones in the sandwich look like leftovers from the pizza making process 6. caramelized onion - looked and tasted like raw white onions 7. sandwich in the pictures looks like cold sandwich - got hot sandwich that got pressed which could explain why some things looked so much worse than the photo Got 2 sandwiches, ate 1 and just couldn't stomach the 2nd one and threw it away. The pizza is decent - on the thicker side, but dough had great rise and solid bake on the crust. I do appreciate some of the other toppings they got like prosciutto. But all the major hitters like pepperoni and sausage were nothing special, and those caramelized onions were some of the saddest I've seen. It's a hard sell honestly with Domino's literally across the street and a newer pizza place opened up 2 blocks down. If you're in the mood for some of their other stuff like calzones or sandwiches I think Angelico's got you covered - those I could actually see myself ordering again. Was really in the mood for a calzone or Stromboli and I don't eat pork, so when their spicy beef calzone popped up on Uber eats I was sold! I love spicy food and I came here to say, that calzone is SPICY!!! Like I had to take a break from eating it and again, I love spicy. We were craving some pizza over the weekend and decided to explore the neighborhood, and this was the closest place to us so we took a chance! Angelico is located at Wisconsin avenue at the nexus of Georgetown/Glover Park, along with many other local food options. We opted for the cheese pizza with bacon (there was a deal for a large cheese pizza for $14 and we took advantage of it) and also ordered 10 wings, half Buffalo and half barbecue. The pizza was delicious and I really enjoyed it! It had a good serving of bacon and cheese in it and the tomato sauce was appetizing. The wings were also good, although the size could have been a little bigger. It seemed like the pizza was made fresh for us, and we had to make a quick grocery stop but was encouraged to not spend any more than 20 minutes since the pizza will be ready by that time and the staff didn't want us to have cold pizza. I've tried the Roasted Eggplant Sandwich which I liked but this one I ordered today was OFF THE CHAIN!! The Portabello Mushroom is AMAZING! I went for dinner on Thursday night, and let me tell you Angelico pizzeria totally satisfied my Italian food craving! We dined at the cafe and felt very safe. There was also outside patio seating. To start we ordered the caprese salad. Very very fresh! They make their sandwiches with HOMEMADE focaccia. It was absolutely so comforting, so fresh. We ordered the Turkey sandwich because it also came with homemade pesto sauce. I devoured it. Next we ordered the spinach and artichoke pizza and Italian calzone. The toppings were flavorful and the calzones were soooo cheesy and pipping hot. For dessert we ordered a slice of the chocolate cake. It was super thick and dense. I ordered a pizza and wings from here on Saturday, Nov. 12th. I really would give them 3.5 stars instead of four but not, if this makes any sense, in a negative sense. The pizza, while good, was nothing different than what I've had from, say, Pizza Hut. In fact, if one were to close their eyes and eat a slice of the pizza that I ordered (Meat Classic), they would probably believe that they were eating Pizza Hut. Now, that's not necessarily a bad thing because I happen to like Pizza Hut. However, I expected something different, I suppose. In any event, don't order from Angelico expecting, at least as far as the Meat Classic goes, something to necessarily wow your taste buds. I order from Angelico's all the time. We're talking every other week since March of this year. So how disappointed was I in the order that I received last night. I wanted to post pictures and talk about it. They are usually the best wings in town...to me. I'm not sure what's going on last night during my order and understand that no one wants to take a loss on food. But I am in the camp of Gordon Ramsay, and believe that no Chef or Cook should ever let burnt food leave their kitchen. My wings were soo burnt and they were inedible. Honestly, I can't complain. This place is expensive ($17/ medium sized pizza), but it definitely tastes so good. Much better than Dominos or other pizza delivery options. The topings on their specialty pizzas are divine. My favorites are the house special (basically a meat lovers) and the artichoke spinach pizza. So rich in flavor that it makes for a true treat. About a 2.5: My co-workers and I came here to grab some lunch - Angelico Pizzeria is in Glover Park, on the same block as Whole Foods. This restaurant originated from New Orleans, then made their way to D.C., having several locations throughout the DC Metro area (Tenleytown, Mt. Pleasant, Georgia Ave., Odenton in MD, and Fairfax & Arlington in VA). Their menu offers appetizers (bread sticks, hummus, eggplant dip, garlic bread, wings, etc.), salads, calzones, pizzas, sandwiches, pastas, wraps, rolls, desserts, and even catering services. I had the Italian Calzone, which was pretty monstrous; it was a nice crescent shape with a nice crispy crust, buttered and had some garlic salt on top. It contained a generous amount of prosciutto, Genoa salami, ham, pepperoni slices; some ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, and tomato sauce. I thought there was a lack of the tomato sauce, and the side of marinara was also kind of small - I just wished they gave you more sauce (I'm a huge sauce person!). Also the fillings of the calzone wasn't hot - the cheese were still in its original 'shredded' form, and I would have liked it to be melty and gooey. The calazone itself tasted fine, but I think it would have been even better being cooked more and hot out of the oven. The restaurant itself is small with limited seating. -Calzone review- Unlike most other pizza places, Angelico let you choose up to 3 toppings in addition to Mozzarella and Ricotta cheese. Their calzone was surprisingly good and cheesy. The Tenleytown pizzeria comes to Glover Park! The place is located where Mama Maria's used to be right next to Good Guys. The storefront is cute and clean and the people who staff it are friendly. Their menu is quite similar to Cafe Romeo's just down the street - pizza, sandwiches, and wings. Their pizzas are pretty delicious, but I like their sandwiches - big and tasty on fresh focaccia bread. I'm particularly a fan of their turkey sandwich, complete with sundried tomato mayo and pesto. It's a delicious and juicy sandwich. The sandwiches come with a bag of Krunchers potato chips, which I hadn't even seen in years but have gotten significantly better than I remember. Their mozzarella sticks are also really good, herbed and just crunchy enough. I definitely recommend for take-out or eating in. A nice fresh take on the old standards.
