Spicy beef calzone filled with red pepper flakes (still tasty though!)

Was really in the mood for a calzone or Stromboli and I don't eat pork, so when their spicy beef calzone popped up on Uber eats I was sold! I love spicy food and I came here to say, that calzone is SPICY!!! Like I had to take a break from eating it and again, I love spicy. Out of curiosity I cut it open and it was filled With red pepper flake seeds (see pic) so I'm guessing they cook them into the meat sauce. I'm still giving it a high rating bc flavor wise it was great and perfectly cooked. I literally just came here to warn that if you are sensitive to spicy steer clear of this specific item lol

    Cheese Pizza with Bacon

We were craving some pizza over the weekend and decided to explore the neighborhood, and this was the closest place to us so we took a chance! Angelico is located at Wisconsin avenue at the nexus of Georgetown/Glover Park, along with many other local food options. We opted for the cheese pizza with bacon (there was a deal for a large cheese pizza for $14 and we took advantage of it) and also ordered 10 wings, half Buffalo and half barbecue. The pizza was delicious and I really enjoyed it! It had a good serving of bacon and cheese in it and the tomato sauce was appetizing. The wings were also good, although the size could have been a little bigger. It seemed like the pizza was made fresh for us, and we had to make a quick grocery stop but was encouraged to not spend any more than 20 minutes since the pizza will be ready by that time and the staff didn't want us to have cold pizza. We were back in time and it was still pretty warm and ready to be eaten. The service was good, and everywhere looked clean and sanitary. Check it out if you're in the area!

    The Portabella Portabello Mushroom Sandwich

This is the second time I've ordered from Angelico and both times my delivery has been fast with warm yummy food. I've tried the Roasted Eggplant Sandwich which I liked but this one I ordered today was OFF THE CHAIN!! The Portabello Mushroom is AMAZING! The garlic herb sauce and caramelized onions take to to another level. The sandwich is very big.(my picture is just half of the sandwich). I was apprehensive at first because some of the reviews are negative but I've had nothing but great food and service from this establishment.

I went for dinner on Thursday night, and let me tell you Angelico pizzeria totally satisfied my Italian food craving! We dined at the cafe and felt very safe. There was also outside patio seating. To start we ordered the caprese salad. Very very fresh! They make their sandwiches with HOMEMADE focaccia. It was absolutely so comforting, so fresh. We ordered the Turkey sandwich because it also came with homemade pesto sauce. I devoured it. Next we ordered the spinach and artichoke pizza and Italian calzone. The toppings were flavorful and the calzones were soooo cheesy and pipping hot. For dessert we ordered a slice of the chocolate cake. It was super thick and dense. With a little cannoli cream on top, it was a great end to our meal. I was very happy to support Angelico pizzeria. The owner is so nice and has multiple locations. SUPPORT LOCAL! You won't regret it

    Pizza and wings

I ordered a pizza and wings from here on Saturday, Nov. 12th. I really would give them 3.5 stars instead of four but not, if this makes any sense, in a negative sense. The pizza, while good, was nothing different than what I've had from, say, Pizza Hut. In fact, if one were to close their eyes and eat a slice of the pizza that I ordered (Meat Classic), they would probably believe that they were eating Pizza Hut. Now, that's not necessarily a bad thing because I happen to like Pizza Hut. However, I expected something different, I suppose. In any event, don't order from Angelico expecting, at least as far as the Meat Classic goes, something to necessarily wow your taste buds. Again, no criticism of them but I like Ledo's pizza far better than the Meat Classic from here. The wings (Sweet Teriyaki) were delicious but it's too bad that I only purchased five!

As soon as we arrived for our reservation and sat down, we were wished happy anniversary by the hostess and our waitress. For cocktails, my wife got a cantaloupe cobbler and I got the pornstar martini without the caviar. Both drinks were great, we ended up sharing another cantaloupe cobbler since that's a drink we've never seen before. For food, we shared the cesare salad and the famous lasagna. The cesare salad was really good with the absolute perfect amount of Parmesan cheese. We really enjoyed it but next time we come we'd try other things. Now for the lasagna. It was absolutely incredible. As we were eating it, we were joking of ordering another one just after our first bite. It was the best lasagna we've ever had and I've had some pretty great lasagna before. For dessert, we shared the vanilla and cantaloupe swirl ice cream. It was amazing. The cantaloupe was so different and just such a great idea especially for the summer. They also brought out a mini chocolate mouse cake with a candle in it and a card for our anniversary. I'm not much for cake but this was light and decadent. It was a very sweet thing for the restaurant to do. We cannot wait for our next time back in DC to come back here. It is a must try.

God dam do I love me a fine Italian restaurant!…read more Went here for my birthday midweek and Filomena's did not disappoint. I studied the menu closely in my anticipation to coming to this restaurant and I had my heart set on the Lobster Cardinale, there is a blurb on the menu that reads Bill Clinton ordered this when he dined here and all the reviews on Yelp said it was a must have. Below is my verdict on the dish. The Lobster Cardinale was very delicious with a heavy in flavor sauce but not so heavy as an Alfredo which I always am concerned will lay in my stomach for hours afterward. The lobster meat was plentiful, I barely finished all the lobster meat, and only had perhaps half the pasta, as we had to order appetizers and dessert as well for the birthday dinner (I mean I did drive through three states to get here) . Now to put some perspective on the plate, this dish was great yes, however the menu of this place is so freaking amazing if I could have a do over, I would choose something with more of a variety of seafood mixed in with some of their hand rolled pasta. We started with Aracini balls which were extremely large and came two to an order. The inside which I have captured in the below photos was to die for. Specifically, the meat inside which had a distinct deep taste of sausage that bordered on sweet and spicy. There was also deliciously melted cheese inside the ball and perhaps some rice, the other two ingredients I just cannot stop thinking about, so it is clouding my judgement on the other items in the appetizer. The sauteed calamari was some of the best I have ever had with a delicious tomato sauce which is best enjoyed after you finish the calamari by dipping your fresh bread in the leftover sauce. The cannoli is world class and so beautifully prepared I almost felt bad eating it, almost : ) The meal is topped off with a complementary shot of either Sambuca or Ameretto. I chose the Sambuca and they brought out coffee beans encase you want to drop three beans in for health, happiness, and prosperity. If you love old world traditional white table cloth Italian restaurants I believe you will love it here. Highly Recommend. And as always people SYOY!!!

One neat detail right off the bat: you can watch women making fresh pasta by hand through the upstairs window. The ambiance downstairs had plenty of decorations--not very traditional Italian, though I suspect they were just getting an early start on Halloween. The food itself was delicious and comes in massive, shareable portions. Luckily, our Lyft driver tipped us off about the sizes ahead of time, so my wife and I split the short ribs and a pasta dish along with a glass of wine each. Even with splitting entrees, the bill still came out to around $100, so expect higher prices. Service was the main downside. Our waiter, Vito, was purely transactional and completely devoid of personality--it felt like he really didn't want to be there. Worth a visit for the pasta and generous plates, but don't expect warm hospitality.

The hostess told us we likely wouldn't sit until 9:45 so I inquired about the bar and the manager quickly stepped in to put us on a waitlist. Since the restaurant is connected to a food hall of sorts, she recommended we grab a drink there while we wait. Shortly after we got our drink, we received notification of an opening and were seated by 8:15. We had the burrata appetizer, Ragú x 2, and the seafood fra diavolo. The burrata was one of the best I've had since they serve it with pesto, pine nuts, and garlic bread. It was truly divine! The Ragú was not far behind. Incredible flavor and a generous portion. The seafood dish had a nice kick and had plenty of seafood, which is not common as of late. All dishes were also priced reasonably for the quality you received. As we sat at the bar, we had pleasant conversation with the bartender and finished our meal with a small cannoli that really sealed the deal. If you're looking for excellent Italian food in DC without breaking the bank, look no further than Caruso's grocery! I ordered the polpette, meatballs to start. They were quite tasty, but the sauce was a bit watery. Think that's just because the meatballs themselves were pretty juicy. Heard the focaccia was a hit, so asked for some of that. I was told they didn't have any left. Which was weird, because then another server came and asked if I wanted bread. I'm glad I said yes because the focaccia is very fresh and was a great addition to the meal. For my main, I ordered the vodka pasta, which was very flavorful and very saucy. I love a good, thick vodka sauce and that's what you'll get here. The one part of the pasta I didn't really enjoy was the chicken inside the pasta. I think I would've preferred a grilled chicken option instead of the chicken that comes in the pasta. That being said, this place is a gem. The prices are great and the portions are hearty. Now, keep in mind I had been on the whole 30 and hadn't had bread in over 30 days, but am so glad this is how I broke my break and carbs fast. Two folks got the Mafaldine Cacio e Pepe and really enjoyed it. After some hemming and hawing, I settled on the Rigatoni alla Vodka. It was alright... I mean, it was good enough that I finished the WHOLE plate (again... no pasta for 30 days), but I found the sauce to be missing flavor and depth as it just tasted like a simple creamy tomato sauce that had little seasoning. Would I go back? Yep... even if only for the bread, but I would definitely try a different main course.
