We are visiting the area from Texas and I have to say that these are the nicest people we have met since we've been here. We had been searching for a New York style deli. Both ladies working at the shop were so friendly and told us what to order and even let us sample their signature sub. We also ordered the hot steak sandwich, which was delicious. But the star of the show is their beer battered onion rings. Amazing! I think we may just have to come back here while we're still in the area. Great hospitality and awesome food. read more

Rude employees. After waiting 40 minutes for 3 subs. Then they told my wife she should of woke up earlier to avoid the amount of people. This was at around 12:45pm. When I'm not visiting home and enjoying an Angelina's Original (salami, bologna, American cheese, lettuce, onions, mayo, oregano, salt + pepp) with black olives and banana peppers in the mix...I'm thinking about the next opportunity I might have to enjoy an Angelina's Original with black olives and banana peppers in the mix. It's really the fresh, locally baked bread that makes anything/everything here exceptionally delicious but they do have a number of non-sandwichy menu items that hit the mark too. Here for the first time, and the staff had their hands filled. Generous 8" minis which were enough. I had the super Cuban. My only gripe was the bread should be a ciabatta type bread or other kind such as I pictured and grilled. Don't know if there was also mayonnaise on the sandwich but I did enjoy it. Called in sandwiches for drive through pickup and there was ~20-25 min wait. Tried ordering chicken salad in a wrap initially but it wasn't on the menu so went with the buffalo chicken wrap with blue cheese, lettuce and tomato. It was tasty! This is a modest location in the quiet town of Dalton. By modest I mean small and somewhat dingy. Because of the small size, this location can not easily accommodate many customers. We visited on a quiet Sunday afternoon, and there were many customers coming in and out. The result was that the wait time for food was quite long, over 30 minutes. The counter staff were not friendly, but my experience in the New England area generally is that customer service is a little rough. Once you learn what to expect, you learn not to take offense at gruff responses from customer facing individuals at various establishments. The food is on the expensive side, about $10 per sub. However, the portions are generous and the quality is good. We enjoyed our meal and we will return in the future. read more

I ordered a chicken Parmesan sub. Worst I have ever had; no Parmesan cheese, very little provolone cheese, little to NO sauce or chicken, and they put green peppers and onions on it. Angelina's Submarine Shop is a local institution in the Pittsfield area with several locations. This casual sub shop offers cold subs, hot grinders, NY style cheesesteaks (8" & 12" sizes), burgers, veggie burgers, hot dogs, fried seafood, fries, sweet potato fries. beer battered onion rings, bagged chips, small baked goods, and cold Coke cooler drinks. The place is order at the counter (open kitchen area) and there is self serve seating inside. While driving through Dalton, I stopped in at Angelina's for takeout. I ordered a Large Eggplant Sub ($6.50) and a Clam Roll with Fries ($5). The Eggplant Sub had thin breaded eggplant slices with a thick tomato sauce and melted mozzarella cheese on a very soft Italian sub roll. The Clam Roll had plenty of crispy clam strips with a tangy tartar sauce on a toasted New England bun. The small fries were the standard kind, deep fried golden and crisp on the outside. The food I had overall was pretty good and tasty. I will have to order a Large Steak & Cheese Sub on my next visit to Angelina's. Parking along side of the building. read more

Absolutely the worst. Ordered two grinders and both were totally wrong. Grinder number one was turkey, onions, provolone cheese and mayo. No provolone cheese. Grinder number two was American cheese and tomato with onions, lettuce and oil. It had provolone cheese and mayo. I didn't think my order was that difficult. Sorry but NEVER again. read more

I was really excited to try this place considering all of the great reviews. The people are very friendly but the subs are mediocre & expensive. Nothing spectacular. A lot of breading, not a lot of flavor. Really disappointed with my chicken finger sub. Great chocolate chip cookies though! read more

12" grinder ordered, 10" received Called in for a hot roast beef grinder with grilled pepper & onions. The lady that took the order was rude when I asked if the steak & cheese was the processed shaved beef or steak. She said she didn't know & had too many customers & she was busy. Then insisted there would be an extra $2.50 charge for the peppers & onions. The roast beef tasted more like chipped beef because it was so salty. It looked short when I arrived so I measured with a ruler. Got 10" instead of 12" that I ordered & paid for! Honestly I won't give them my business any longer. have got grinders for many years from here but got to say after tonight it will be a long time before i go back. ordered 3 grinders tonight and only 1 was correct other 2 were both messed up. 1 should have had extra cheese extra onion extra mayo nope on all 3 of the extras. other one should have had onion and lettuce got home it was lettuce (what you could find of it ) and black olives which i can not eat so no onion. both were to have spices nope on either one the help working dalton needs a babysitter tonight well faisal is a good friend of ours and when i see him he is going to hear about the worst grinders ever.... thing says easthampton ma but it should be hinsdale ma.rant over for now read more

I bought a couple chicken cheesesteak grinders yesterday and there were only a few small pieeces of chicken on top of a lot of lettuce onIon and tomato. I asked my husband today what he thought as we had eaten them separately yesterday and he totally agreed. I'm a pretty good judge of weighing food and I'd say there may have been 1-1.5 ounces of chicken on the whole grinder. Huge disappointment. read more

Amazingly disappointing but not surprising. A chicken parm grinder is not two frozen chicken tenders with provolone cheese. Asking if I wanted grilled chicken caused concern. I should have changed my order. Never use grilled chicken. I'm grateful that you had tomato sauce to use rather than ketchup even though they're both red. The small grinder was almost $10. I was just back in the Berkshires and had my first Angelina's Sub in nearly five years (1/2 of a cheesesteak and 1/2 of the original sub) and I was sent right back to childhood. It was everything I remembered. There is nothing like it where I live now. I love subs and have been to every sub shop in my new area and not one of the "gourmet" places can hold a candle to the unpretentious and unique taste of Angelina's. I'll have to visit the family more often, I guess... You can't go wrong with the Original, roast beef, meatball, cheese steaks, or the tuna. read more

If you want a very good sandwich come here. The steak and cheese sub was great. Real steak, cooked fresh not precooked. I watched her grill it. You will find Angelina there.... cooking for you herself. I gave 4 stars because very small place, one little table. Also an old building and not the cleanest. Angelina's was once the greatest sub shop I'd ever experienced. These were true grinders and were always worth the trip. Times change and unfortunately the changes haven't been for the best as far as Angelina's is concerned. It's almost as if the food quality has gone down as the prices have gone up over the years. Many of the old favorites are still on the menu but something is different and it's hard to put a finger on it. They do stay open late, which is good for Dalton (where most things close at sunset) and Angelina's is still better than Subway, but not by much. read more
