Sunday Brunch was amazing. Because of that our server convinced us to return on Monday evening for their Pappardelle Bolognese which she claimed was amazingly delicious. So we retuned and to start things off we asked for a bread basket . We were told none and we had to order their French Bread app The bread came and it wasn't French Bread but Ciabatta toasted with some very good EVOO and whipped butter. We thought okay no big deal we're excited for our pasta dish A short time later our pasta dishes came and much to our surprise, the Pappardelle pasta was substituted with Mafaldine, a much heavier dough. Very disappointed but not as much as their response to us via Open Table. We came for Valentine's Day day brunch. Made a reservation. We waited for a hostess for about 10 minutes. A waitress finally sat us against the windows. The waitress that sat us constantly was apologizing for lack of staff. No hostess no bartender. Our waitress came over, different than the waitress that sat us, she took our coffee order. Then came back for food order however we asked for mimosas. She told us it would be a few minutes due to lack of bartenders. Want to be clear we were early enough there was only 3 tables that were already eating before we were seated. So not busy at all. Waitress returned with orange juice and a splash, true splash of champagne. So much so there was no hint of bubbles from the champagne. We ordered the Smoked salmon Benedict and I ordered the bagel with lox with a side of bacon and 2 eggs. The Benedict was ok, the ratio between the amount of bread to the rest was high. The bagel and lox came out as a sandwich that was pressed. Eggs had a layer of grease and the bacon was crispy that broke with touched with the fork. The inside is gorgeous with nice chairs and tables plenty of seating. Wooden cross beams. To be honest, that was the highlight of the brunch. Would we go back, I highly doubt it since the cost was over $100. read more

We heard the Pappardelle noodles with the bolognese sauce was outstanding so we gave it a try. The sauce was very good however we were disappointed because the menu states pappardelle noodles and we were given mafaldine pasta. This changes the whole dish. The pappardelle noodles would have been much lighter than the mafaldine. The waitress didn't even say they were replacing the pasta with a different pasta they just brought it out. The Williams Inn is a beautiful, modern yet traditional-looking inn and restaurant in Williamstown in the northern Berkshires. The inn's restaurant is a lovely space, just the right size and with the expected upscale ambiance. The drinks are very good. The guests seem monied. Unfortunately, the food, while very nicely presented and with good service, is only a little above average. Perhaps we chose the wrong menu items. We had mostly seafood: a lobster roll, with tasteless lobster mush on what looked like a hamburger roll, mediocre flash fried calamari and crab cakes, with lots of crab (but again, mushy - do they put their seafood through a blender or what?) Next time, we will stick with non-seafood items in this village far from the water, perhaps short ribs or the large hamburger with grass-fed beef. Still, we enjoyed the meal, the inn and the charming little college town. It didn't cost too much, around $150 for two with tip and a couple of drinks. read more

Never go back! Ordered Corn beef hash which was 1/2 chunks of gristle. The meat was more gristle then meat. Server never came to check how things were unitl she bussed the table. I complained and told her to show the chep the pile grisle on the plate. She said she never had a complaint before. That was it. We arrived win a busy Saturday for lunch but were seated promptly. Prompt wasn't exactly what followed, however; we had pleasant servers, but the wait times for food and drink were on the slow side. That said, we had a pretty good meal for our crowd. The burgers were good if hardly special; the Turkey BLT had lots of turkey and fresh rye bread; we enjoyed the tasty tomato bisque and the potato and leek soups; but the salad was hastily thrown together and not very appealing. We're giving them three stars, but really we need another visit to get a better overview and admit that we wish we could offer 3 1/2 stars. I really wanted to fall in love with the restaurant but too many things have gone wrong for me to fully embrace this place. First off, we are guests of the inn and the inn is so charming and contemporary that we thought we would be in for a treat having read that this restaurant is a farm to table style concept. Walking up to the hostess, we were told there are no availability for the evening, We asked for following day, and nope. I made a reservation online shortly after on Yelp and voila, no problem at all. Having read other people's review, this is not the first time this has happened. I will just leave it at that and not say anything more. When we came in, we were promptly seated which was good. For appetizer, we had the mussels which was really good and tasty for $17. For entree, I had the bacon cheeseburger $19 and they cooked it to perfection. I asked for fries instead of salad. My son got the pasta with bolognese sauce $24 which he ate every bite. My wife got the daily special of duck cassoulet $26 which came out subpar. The presentation was a bit sloppy with duck sitting on a bed of beans. That plus it wasn't the best duck she ever had. For dessert, my wife got the flourless cake which she felt it was bit too dry. All in all, some hits on the food and also some misses. Additionally, the wait time is somewhat a bit slow. read more

Had a wonderful anniversary dinner. Started with an aperol cocktail and whiskey. Each had clam soup with chunky potatoes and warm rolls. My husband had the pasta bolognese and I had the salmon. My only issue was sitting under cold air blowing over my head and it was cold out. The vibe is trendy modern barn vibe, nicely lit. Another bad experience at the barn-- 3rd time I ordered something and the plate was filled to the brim with butter/oil. I ordered the salmon last night and I was automatically disappointed with the very small portion size. I was given a small piece of salmon with two broccoli florets on a bed of risotto. The risotto was so, so oily to say the least and when I mentioned it to the waitress I wasn't given an option to take it back or offered a discount for the unpleasant meal. Similar experience when I ordered their simple scrambled eggs with toast and potatoes (loaded with butter) and not offered anything for the inconvenience. I asked for a separate plate so I could quite literally pour the oil from my bowl and avoid eating it. Paying $29 plus tax and tip for such a mid meal is so disappointing. And lastly, as you can see from the photos, the leftover oil on the table from the bowl just to give an idea. read more

the barn kitchen & bar was a gem, but the real star of the show was the bartender. i wish that i could remember her name, which by no account is a reflection on her. she was attentive, service was top tier, and her wine knowledge was impressive. as for the food, i am a sucker for a wedge, salad only, the shoes need to go ahead and phase out, but if a wedge salad is on the menu be prepared to split with me. this was one to write about. fresh cut bacon/ham, loads of toppings and fresh blue cheese. paired with the oysters, this was a perfect starter for two. on to the main course. if you are thinking of getting the fish tacos and you are extremely hungry, do it. if not, still get it but share. these are three (deliciously) HUGE tacos. we also ordered the pasta, which was fine, not bad but definitely wouldn't order again. sit at the community table at the bar and enjoy the company. the barn kitchen &bar is a nice spot for familiar bites, and an elevated atmosphere without the price tag. read more

This place is not worth visiting. The front desk at the restaurant is highly unprofessional. I went with my family and they told me they do not have availability. I asked to make a reservation for the next day, they said they do not have any availability for the next day either. However, when I called the restaurant they had the availability. I am not sure if they were being racist or they do not welcome couples with kids. I will never go back to a rude place like this. read more

Used to love eating here when visiting my kid at Williams. It has a very nice atmosphere but the food has gotten more and more expensive and the quality has gone down. They used to offer a nice Beyond Burger for vegetarians. It was spectacular. It's been replaced by a mushy tasteless "homemade" burger which I regretted ordering. They then added a great cauliflower app that I could order with a salad for my meal. Now that's gone too. The vegetarian options are expensive and subpar in my opinion. But what really finally did us in was the $8 bread service charge . They said to have the most delicious puffy chewy rolls that we adored (that were included in the meal). They are gone. And I cannot imagine paying $8 for some bread at an upscale pub. We stay in the Inn quite a bit but no longer eat at the Barn. It's unfortunate because we used to love it. Bartenders and wait staff are great. At least bring back the Beyond Burger so we will always have something reliable and solid to eat. Really miss the days of eating there. read more

We met long-time friends here for dinner. I had the spicy vegan curry and it was utterly delicious. With rice in the middle and the spice and flavor of the curry with the vegetables, the taste was well balanced and full of flavor. It wasn't spicy, but the flavors were well melded to make this dish a hit for me. My wife got the port sliders and a side of fries. The fries were plentiful with flavor and the portion size. It's enough to easily feed 3-4 people, but they were so good, only two people pretty much ate the whole thing. My wife said she enjoyed her pork sliders. Our friends had the salmon and rack of lamb. They seemed to enjoy their meals too (and they recommended this place for dinner). We sat out on the patio and they have giant heaters in the eaves; so if you get cold, just ask them to turn them on. Located in a fairly new facility at the Williamstown Inn this place was very posh without pretentiousness. Clean and charming with high ceilings and open space but still cozy. I arrived early and was seated and they brought me coffee will I waited. The staff was very pleasant. We were there for brunch and they have a nice menu with just enough options. My companion had avocado toast and I the basic breakfast with nothing being very good. So I highly recommend this place. If you are planning a trip to the Clark Institute or visiting the Mt. Great spot for families visiting Williams College. We Came to grab a bite for dinner and had no reservation but the hostess was able to accommodate us. A reservation would be recommended. This is a new location for the the Williams Inn and their restaurant has a great atmosphere. Outside seating is available, weather permitting which I would like to do next time I visit. For dinner, we had their roasted corn soup (best I've ever had), Caesar salad, and the roasted cauliflower dinner entree served on a bed of wild rice which was just out of this world. And, they serve warm rolls :) They have great beer selection and a full bar. I had their Ephs' Old Fashioned which was "ok" ... maybe other people would like this variation of the drink. Came here on a total whim while on my way to Massachusetts, and ordered the Halibut with the cauliflower risotto on the recommendation of the bar tender (and pretty much all of the other staff there, it was a slow night.) I could not have been any more surprised at how good the dish was. Normally when I order seafood of any kind, it's overcooked or just bland. This was definitely not the case. I savored every extremely tender and juicy bite that I took, and took my sweet time in cleaning the plate. Will absolutely be stopping by again in the near future. After eating at The Barn a few months ago I revisited it again last night with my husband. We snagged a last minute reservation for 8:30. For dinner we ordered the charcuterie board, the pork tenderloin and the salmon. While everything in the charcuterie board was delicious (especially the fig jam) none of the cheeses were identified. It's always a bummer when there is no identification of anything on the board. There was some delicious goat cheese/brie like cheese that I would love to seek out before heading home. Our mains were well done though the potatoes with the pork were surprisingly flavorless, though perfectly cooked. Even dipping them in the bechamel from the salmon couldn't redeem them. Besides the unidentified cheese, the stars of the meal were the desserts. We opted for the sorbet and the creme brulee and both were outstanding. My suggestion would be to skip dinner and stick with drinks, apps and dessert. If we visit again that will certainly be our plan. read more
