Deserves more than a 5 star review. All meat combo grinder lunch special came with a grinder, salad & chips. AMAZINGGGG Calzone with sausage & mushrooms - very very good. Probably the best I've had. What makes this food so good is the bread on the grinder which is home made and the crust on the calzone which again is home made. DEFINATELY RETURNING as there is so much more we need to try. Seriously a Kalamazoo treasure! The bread is fluffy and fresh baked. The owner is sweet and talkative. My friends and I bought food and took it to emerald park nearby and had a picnic outside during a beautiful day. Sad to hear that the owner is selling it but a retirement well deserved! Absolutely love this place. Always try to support family owned business, but this place has the charm and food to back it. Our first time in- we were just looking for a quick lunch. The owner took our order and joked with us as we asked for his recommendations and walked around checking in with customers after bringing them over their food- the price is right playing on the tv gives it a very homey feel. We are from out of town and we were here a couple of years ago, and remembered they had decent pizza,. Our family tries very hard to eat local, especially during these times. Long story short. We arrived to this establishment at 7:45 for dinner last night. The sign said °open°, but curbside only. Ok, that's fine, covid is an irritation to us all. I also ordered the cheese bread and I have to say these were the least flavorful I have ever had. I ate two pieces and threw the rest away. I also asked for extra marinara and it was served cold with the bread, like just out of the fridge cold. That was disappointing. However the food was delicious although they could go a little extra with the condiments and toppings but that's my personal preference. I tried the tuna grinder and my wife had the Italian club. I have only been here once, but wow they have amazing chicken nachos! Kind of a small place you normally wouldn't see. But when you find it the nachos is where it's at. The chicken is yum and great flavor, chips are crunchy and crispy, they don't at all get mushy like normal nachos do! The pizza and calzones are so good! I usually get the cheese and pepperoni calzone. And it's stuffed fully and so ooey gooey! The pizzas are super yummy ! They also have gluten free if that's what ya need! They run specials so watch out for them! A 16" cheese pizza will run you 13.00 ish dollars which isn't bad! The prices are ok, but the food is really good so it makes up for paying more ! Definitely a place to try if you love pizza like I do! My kids are pizza snobs, so when they ask for Angelos specifically, you know it's good!! read more

The venue isn't anything worth mentioning and the service is okay for an over-the-counter place, but they're quick and the food is always crafted expertly. This unassuming little restaurant is obviously a local favorite. We came here twice for lunch during our one week assignment in Portage. I had the taco wrap twice. It was deliciously spiced without being too salty. The chili was hearty and tasty as well. If you are passing through town or have a 30+ minute layover at the Portage airport, head over to Angelo's for a hearty no fuzz meal. You won't be disappointed! One word of caution....the place was packed for lunch on both days we were there. Seats were limited and the wait time can be long (+15 minutes depending on size of party and what was ordered). This is a fast and friendly place we stopped for a quick bite. It was very good. My coworker got the all meat sandwich which he loved and I got the cheesesteak which was very good.
