We came for dinner and tried the new Detroit cheese bread sticks. Deep dish bread sticks with crispy cheese edge. They were very tasty. The kids got small pepperoni pizza and kids cheese pizza which they said was really good. We tried the Porta City pizza which had portabella mushrooms, red onions, sausage and pepperoni. The crust we chose was pan tossed so it came out with extra flavor. Crust was crispy and flavorful along with the sautéed mushrooms. Definitely one to try. read more

Waitress never checked on us. Food took one hour and ten minutes. The lasagna was lukewarm and tasteless.

I go out to eat a few times a year and being a server for 20+ years I have high expectations for good service. My BFF and I had lunch at 1;00P. today, 2-5-26. Our server, who looked to be 12 was friendly but not that knowledgeable about the pizza buffet. I wanted to know when fresh food was coming out and how long the old stuff had been there. She did not know. So, we got the salad bar, which was not tended too, messy and the sausage, kale soup was salty. Our server never removed our dishes or filled our water, we were there for 2 hrs. with these items not tended to. It was not busy and she seemed bored. I was so excited to have this buffet return, finally. It was a disappointment and so was the service. I know they can do better. read more

We were sitting at our table for at least ten minutes before an employee slammed the menus on our table and walked about without greeting us, and walked away. The whole time it seemed like the server Sydnee just wanted us to leave and didn't want any engagement towards us. Our drinks came two thirds full and we never got refills after our cups were empty the whole time. Food was good, took 30 minutes. And during the 30 minutes we only saw our server talking to coworkers. She never checked on us the entire experience. First time in ever and won't be going back. The first time we tried this place my pizza came with NO cheese. Zero cheese. Just dough, sauce and pepperoni. I called them and was told that you have to order cheese on your pizza. I thought that was a given. Okay. Few months later decided to use a gift card I had received. Noticed their menu prices do Not match their online prices/call in at all. And they wouldn't honor it. Based on the menu for fettuccine Alfredo with substitute Errbie bread and a 16" inch 2 topping pizza would be 38.05 plus tax however online or call in was almost $60. Overcharging folks. read more

This is a fabulous little restaurant, they have delicious pizzas and even better margaritas made with lemon, not the super sweetened mixes. The service was fabulous and the ambiance was great as usual. I even got fresh cheese breads for checking in. That's just a bonus. My son who's a very picky eater loved their pizza. Erbelli's has long been one of our most favorite places in town for pizza! We really enjoy the many unique pizza choices they have, our favorite being the Twisted Sista Pizza or the Wrist Calzone! Amazing!! We also really like their version of the stuffed pizza or "Chicago style pizza"! Definitely not a true replica of the deep dish greatness Chicago has to offer, but delicious for a stuffed pizza! However, on our most recent visit (date night!!) we decided to branch out a bit and try the Tuesday special which was pasta. Any pasta, soup and salad bar, and garlic bread for $14.99. The pasta prices are normally between $11-$13, the salad bar is $4.99 with a dine-in entrée, so this is a decent deal. The pasta was a very big disappointment. My husband and I ordered two different choices, mine was the Vodka Sauce Sausage Pancetta Pasta and he went for the Picanté Pesto Chicken Pasta. The pasta was WAY over sauced, something I never thought I would say as I love a good saucy pasta. My husband's bowl was so full of oily pesto he could not even eat it and he is the furthest from a "picky eater" that there is! He typically loves pesto! The sauce was overwhelming and way too oily! He left over half of his meal, and didn't even accept a doggy bag. Very unlike him! I LOVE vodka sauce, creamy pasta and have been trying it at multiple pasta restaurants all over town, however this one was just not good. Huge chunks of bacon, blandish flavor, both of us agreed that there are much better versions in town. The waitress came and saw all of the food left over and never asked us how our food was. Not even after my husband said he didn't want to take his home. While she seemed like a nice person, her serving skills were much lacking, she was not attentive. For Erbelli's this whole experience leaves us very sad! We've always loved this place! I would definitely recommend sticking to the pizza!! And also, if you want to dine in rather than carry out, I would also highly recommend taking the little bit of extra time it would cost you to drive over to the Stadium Drive location in Kalamazoo. The dining space is much larger, with more room for the tables, (The booths here in Portage are super tight, we actually tried two, since we had to request to move once due to a loud banging on the other side of the wall by our original seat - the server said was the dishwasher?!) and also has more servers who are not so weighed down by serving the entire dining area, alone. We won't give up on Erbelli's! We will be back, but probably to the Stadium Drive location, and definitely for the pizza! read more

I love the food. But the service wasnt too great this time. I dont think the front cashier staff (at the time of my visit) was trained properly to check me out. He was extremely slow, had me repeat my order a few times, and got frustrated at me when i tried paying with Apple pay... i had to apologize for not having my physical card on me. Wow! Erbelli's is incredible. While there is very limited seating due to Covid, they knocked it out. Nance took great care of us, and we are leaving full and happy! Their menu is expansive with specialty pizzas, so be prepared to be overwhelmed with choices. We settled on the Wrist and The New Yorker, and we were very pleased with our choices. We wanted a casual, low-key meal someplace where no one would look askance at us if we were a little dusty from a day of basement and garage cleaning, and my sister who lives in the area suggested Erbelli's. We got there around 7 on a Saturday night and were told we'd have a 20 minute wait for a table. Since no one was sitting at the small bar, we decided to cool our heels (not to mention our parched throats) there with a beer until a table opened. There were about half a dozen craft brews on tap, along with the usual macrobrews. I sampled a house IPA and found it a bit thin, so I got a Bell's Two Hearted instead. Once seated, we ordered a large thin crust with 4 items. When it came, it had quite a bit of grease pooled on the top. It didn't taste bad, but the slices were too soggy to pick up and eat by hand. Knife and fork were required, at least until you got very near the outer edge. We wanted some parmesan to sprinkle on it, but forgot to ask for it when the server brought our pizza and after that, we couldn't flag her or any other server down, even though they breezed past us several times. I finally spotted some shakers of parmesan on shelves across the room so I went over and grabbed one. It helped soak up some of the grease. Not a terrible pizza. It might have been excellent if it hadn't been so soggy. Maybe it wouldn't be on another visit, though I don't think I'll gamble on it. read more

They quality and quantity of toppings at Erbelli's is pretty much unbeatable, and their zesty sauce is probably the best in town, too. I used to think they were a little overpriced, but yesterday's pizza order was about the best band for your pizza buck I've ever seen. My husband, our friends Sara, and I split an extra large specialty pizza with a whopping seven kinds of meat toppings on it, and each of us was only able to finish one slice (we also got about halfway through the Erbbie bread we ordered with it -- Erbelli's take on a cheesy garlic bread). It was absurdly delicious and equally filling. We'll be dining on the leftovers for days. They goofed up our delivery (We gave them the correct address on the phone, but they wound up delivering it to her old house that was associated with her phone number in their system). When we got the text from the driver saying that our pizza was left on our back step, we knew there was a problem since we don't have a back step. We called them and they figured out that they delivered it to the wrong house and immediately went back and retrieved and dropped it off at the correct still piping hot. First, a disclaimer: During the decades that I have lived in Kalamazoo, I have traditionally favored the pizzas of Bilbo's, Godfather, and Jet's. Each is distinct and are impossible to mistake for another pizzeria's product. When home owners need help from their friends to move stuff in or out of a home, when all is finished, it is important to reward their friends with vast quantities of pizza and beer. After the College Hunks left with their truckload of debris from my mother's house, it was time to eat. Though I was paying, I was also outvoted, and pizzas from Erbelli's were ordered and obtained. We ordered a number of pizzas, including the "Be Careful Not To Choke Pepperoni Shocker Pizza!" and "Prosciutto de Parma." And the group consensus was that the crusts were boring and the toppings were boring. Comparisons were made with pizzerias found all over the US, and Erbelli's was found lacking. One couple, having grown up in Portage, exclaimed, "What happened? Did Erbelli's get bought out by a chain?" They were particularly disappointed. read more

We have never ate in the restaurant since it is pretty small so I can't comment on that experience but if you're doing pick-up make sure to call in advance as it can get to be a long wait.
