Octavio's made planning our large dinner celebration so easy! Communication was seamless because they coordinated with us via text while we were planning for our big group. When we arrived, they even had custom printed menus with a header including the name of our celebration, such a thoughtful touch. I also have to rave about their split check system. For large parties (and we do a lot of 20+ people celebrations), this was honestly the best system we've experienced. They simply take a name per check, which made it super easy for everyone to keep track of their order and pay without confusion. Another highlight was that the owner came out to greet us, shared some of his favorite items, and made sure everything was going smoothly. He was incredibly accommodating, hospitable, and truly provided excellent customer service. They even allowed me to help select a menu for our large party, which actually worked really well because it helps the kitchen bring food out quicker compared to ordering from the entire extensive menu. The open patio concept was great and the kids loved the space. There are also three umbrellas out there which helped with shade. They even have a banquet room, which we might try next time for another event. The drinks were spectacular! I tried the fresh muddled cucumber margarita, blackberry margarita, and strawberry margarita... yes, I had them all and they were so good! The chiles toreados were also delicious (an order comes with two), and my family really enjoyed the chips and salsa as well. They also allowed me to bring in my cake, and I simply brought my own disposable plates and plastic forks which worked out perfectly. We stopped by Octavio's for lunch and overall had a decent experience with a few highs and lows. The Triple Dip appetizer was wonderful--nicely portioned and flavorful! Just be careful not to fill up on chips before your entrée arrives. The quesabirria was a highlight for me--crispy and nicely toasted on the outside with flavorful birria inside. I did request the consume on the side, but unfortunately, it was pretty bland compared to the richness of the taco itself. My husband ordered the Street Taco Flight and enjoyed two out of the four tacos. I tried them as well and thought all they were tasty. The cheese enchilada was the one letdown--it tasted a little different from prior visits, with gravy that was bland and a texture that wasn't as soft as expected, despite the sauce. It was just okay and probably not something I'd order again. I do appreciate the ambience here--Octavio's has a modern, elevated Mexican style that feels a notch above the usual spots. With a few tweaks on consistency, this could have easily been a solid 4-star visit. read more

First off service is great. Cute restaurant. Lighting and potential there I ordered the asada taco salad with a side of flour tortillas. My usual. It looked like the child lunch menu. I spent 22 dollars ! Had like a half a cup of asada that fit in half the burrito. A scoop of rice on the side. The salsa.....especially green... was delicious. But the price doesn't equate the amount of food. Do better. Because your staff deserves that. read more

So, where shall I begin...with the rude waitress or, the "Taste of Mexico" as they call it. Ok, waitress rude af, nuff said about her. The food was so not authentic Mexican food. The shrimp cocktail deserves its own warning label. The shrimp were soggy, watery, and somehow both rubbery and mushy at the same time--an impressive achievement, just not a good one. The cocktail sauce tasted like someone mixed ketchup with regret, and the whole dish arrived barely chilled, which is never a good sign when seafood is involved. I got something that felt like it came straight from the bargain freezer section and thawed in someone's pocket. Absolutely would not order again. Now let's discuss part 2: The "Guacamole tostado" I wish I could say this guacamole and bean tostada was merely disappointing, but it was downright tragic. The tostada shell was def store bought and absorbed the sadness in the kitchen. The beans were canned or had the texture of something that definitely needed a few more minutes of cooking (or maybe a complete rethink). The guacamole was the real heartbreak: flavorless, and suspiciously pale--more like someone whispered "avocado" over a bowl and called it a day. I'm thinking Costco. Even the toppings looked tired, as if they, too, regretted being part of this dish. Overall, this experience was a flavorless letdown. Support local! I am trying to be better about supporting local so I have been venturing out of my usual spots and trying new places. I've been to Octavio's twice now and I have mixed feelings about it. Chips-standard Salsa-good flavor with a little kick Beans-ok Rice-weird flavor, imo I have tried the chicken and beef tacos and subbed the standard corn tortilla for flour which I LOVE. Both were really good. Lots of meat with sauce, cheese and lettuce. I also tried their Desnuda seasonal margarita in strawberry...DELICIOUS! I'd go back just for the taco and marg, lol. Downside-Pepsi products...YUCK! The interior is that of a typical Mexican restaurant. It has a good amount of seating but the bar area is small. Downside-please update your restrooms. The service was excellent on both occasions, very friendly and attentive and I appreciate that more and more these days. Octavio's is a Mexican restaurant, but the atmosphere really didn't feel authentically Mexican. The vibe was very Americanized -- at one point there was even a guy singing Sweet Caroline. Great song, of course, but when you go to a Mexican restaurant you usually expect Mexican music or even mariachis to set the tone. My husband and I didn't order food since we had only stopped in for drinks while we were in the area trying the place for the first time. The drink menu was pretty limited, and from what I saw, the food prices seemed high for a Mexican restaurant. If you're looking for a truly authentic Mexican dining experience, I'd recommend Nena's in Stockton or Las Casuelas in Manteca instead. read more

We've been coming here for years and after tonight, really disappointed with the overall service and food this evening. We thought arriving early for dinner on Cinco de Mayo would be a good thing. Restaurant not that busy, like in the past, we were seated right away. Sat for nearly 20 minutes before chips and salsa were delivered and another 15 before a server took our drink order. We decided to order our dinner at the time our drink order was taken since we had so much time to look at the menu. Although, we already knew what we wanted going in. Drinks finally arrived after another long wait and another server had to ask what our drink order was. I had a good view of the kitchen from my seat and watched my fajitas sit under the heat lamp for an extended period and when brought to the table, not at sizzling platter like we've had in the past. I've never had chip beef for fajitas before so that was a little disappointing but did my best to eat what was served. We love the food and service we receive at this restaurant so we come pretty often. Unfortunately in our last visit we ordered our 2year old the rice and beans plate and noticed she was struggling to swallow. She asked for water and still could pass it I told her to spit it out and that's when she spit out a small black wire. It looked the size of a staple. We told the waitress and she was surprised and told us she would remove the plate from our bill. I wish this would have been taken more seriously if my child would have swallowed this they could have seriously been hurt. Shrimp taco barely had any shrimp, tortilla was not cooked all the way but the green salsa was really good , still not worth the price of one taco . We had a wonderful family brunch at Octavio's this morning. The restaurant looks great and the woman making fresh tortillas as you walk in is so inviting. The mimosas and margaritas were refreshing and the brunch menu had some great choices and they have the full regular menu. Breakfast burrito was huge! The steak and egg tacos were also a hit. As always the staff is very accommodating, we brought a birthday cake and they brought outplayed and forks. Tried this place today and it didn't disappoint. Super good food, place was clean went in on an off hour. Sat at the bar . Waitress was tentative and quick to refill my water. I got 4 tacos pretty big portions. birria was super good. Baja taco was delicious. I think the owner came out and talked to me even. He went in the back and got me some salsa not sure if it was special or what but it wasn't anywhere else. Treated me like family. This place shouldn't be at the rating it's at. 4-5 stars for sure. I recently stopped by Octavio's to dine in for lunch. I ordered the Triple-Dip, Three Enchiladas with beans and rice, and a Horchata. Everything was so tasty from start to finish. My food came out pretty quickly as well. I even enjoyed the complimentary Chips & Salsa. Octavio's has always been one of my favorite restaurants in Stockton. My boyfriend and I go to Octavio's a few times a month on the weekends. I absolutely love their cheese enchiladas rice and beans as well as the chips and salsa. I love the atmosphere which is mellow, clean, with a pretty bar. But, by far the best thing besides that cheese enchilada that I crave is by far the staff which I love chatting with and those Bloody Mary's which are AMAZING!!!! This small family owned and operated business is a true gem! If ever in the area you will want to stop by and get some food. During covid times this business has went above all other competitors in ensuring the safety of their staff and guests. They have been doing contactless curbside pickup which is the safest way to eat out now. They bring food out to your car and place in either your back seat or trunk. Super safe! Food is good Mexican-American. Pretty solid and consistent. I enjoyed the food. The service is so WOKE, it disgusts me. I felt like the server would sue me for not sucking up to her. She tried to make me feel that I am lucky having a server. I she did her best, and definitely too her time (talking to the cook) when I asked for a water re-fill. She could do no wrong and made it apparent that she knew that I was only a customer. Well, then I won't leave a tip...read what a "tip" is. Once a customer leaves, it costs everyone. They may never return. Once you are fired, the restaurant may just flourish with its new staff. I would suggest that one tries the restaurant in the evening.. Perhaps they will be lucky and fire this arrogant, self centered "employee" that cares about how special she is. The night staff may be totally a different experience. I don't know but hope so for the owner's sake. I won't give MY money to someone that doesn't deserve or work for it. Especially one that incentivized me to write this post.
