You're here for the good food and mom n pop vibes. Nowadays, it's less common to get a hearty delicious meal for less than $20... but here at Xochimilco, I can always count on that every time! I've been coming here with my friend after the Lodi festival for years before we make our drive. Their free appetizer of chips n salsa and gravy was a delicious start, my friend always looking forward to the chips made from their flour tortillas. I like how hearty of a chip it is, but my personal preference is for something a little thinner. Their tortillas are made in fresh house with a giant machine. Service here is like a grandma making sure you've eaten, but a little short - everything will come and your drinks will always remain filled though. Each time, I've always gotten a wet burrito (red sauce) and I'd get a packed hunk of a burrito. This year was the first time I notice pozole and I had to give it a try. I'm not the biggest fan of pork in soup, but I do love everything else about the soup. When my soup arrived, I was surprised it also came with a huge side of beans and rice... I was excited as I was considering ordering a side of rice since it smelled so good from my friend's plate. For the soup, it's light and hearty at the same time - full of flavor. The pork... I was very surprised how tender the meat was and there was plenty in my soup among the hominy. This was a super satisfying meal and I had enough leftovers for another when I get home! Final Thoughts: Great prices, generous portions and delicious foods! I cannot recommend this place enough to anyone asking for recs in the area. Quit going there years ago after hair in the chili colorado, complained and didn't have to pay for meal, but they didn't ask if I wanted something else. Went back after 6 months or so and got a whole piece of chicken wing bones and meat in a chicken taco dinner ended up throwing it down towards the kitchen and left. This experience was definitely a original, mom and Pop restaurant style visit. A lot of history of possibly were the restaurant concept originated from. As there are some photos of locations in another country where the restaurant is located. I also got the feeling that the original owners of this particular location still show up and our hands on at this restaurant enjoying many of the handmade items available for example, their salsa and their tortillas as I was watching one of the hostesses prepare the salsa my hand. Had a great spicy cake to it as well so if you like spice in your salsa, this was a good place to get it from and if you like homemade tortillas again, this is a great place to get them from and enjoy the Matt. We dined in here as soon as they opened so we were the only guest for probably about the first 30 up to 45 minutes. As we were sitting here eating, I did take a note that some of their visitors have been dining here for many of years. Which is something great to see they have a decent size menu which allows for breakfast lunch and dinner. The location I would say holds may be about 70 people maybe a little bit less give or take by 10. I did notice one television at the location that had sports viewing of soccer. The parking here is more of side curb street parking so just something to be aware of depending on what time of day you go if it's gonna be easier to find parking. I had a great time at this Mexican cafe / hole on the wall style restaurant. I called ahead on New Years Day to ask if they served chilaquiles all day and they let me know that they did and would be waiting for me! With a welcoming message like that, how could I not go? They greeted my friend and I and seated us right away. The chips were nice and crispy and they even gave me a bag to take home which I made more chilaquiles with! Wonderful flavors in the the chilaquiles they served, as well as in the side of beef I asked for. They gave us a complimentary gravy and cheese with our chips and noticed they did this to other tables as well. I wonder if this was due to it being New Year's Day! The restaurant has a very homey feel and you can see the inside of the kitchen as you head to the restrooms in back which gives it a bit of a home feel environment. I definitely felt hosted. Picked up dinner today at Xochimilco went home and noticed the salsa container got smaller and the taste was different. I'm sure the salsa tasted like La Victoria from the jar, did not taste homemade this time. Think next time before I order I'll ask to taste the salsa first if it taste like a jar then I'll pass. read more

This was honestly one of the worst menudos I've ever had. I couldn't even tell if it was supposed to be pozole or menudo -- it was filled with corn and was extremely salty. This was my first and definitely my last time coming here. My family also ordered tamales and enchiladas. The tamales were just plain masa with almost no meat at all. One of my family's favorite spots! We come from out of town to go regularly. It looks small from the outside, but it's got a cozy interior and fantastic service! They're accommodating to dietary restrictions. I always get their guacamole tostada lunch and it's plenty for me to have practically a whole second meal to take home for later. Everything was great as always and I love how they put flour tortillas with the chips in the bag of chips and salsa. Every time we sit down to eat inside we get treated like family and it just feels comfortable like you're at someone's home. Use to love this place but service has gone down. The last 3 times i placed a pick up order my order was incorrect. The first two times the staff made me feel like it was my error so i stopped going for a few months. Went back today said my order extra slow. STILL GOT ORDER WRONG. Staff never takes enough accountability always oh it wasn't me who took the order but you can come back or ok well do you want it replaced. I live across town and it isn't worth it to drive back i should've checked my order before leaving i guess but had faith being i order slow and restaurant not busy. 28 years ago - that's how long it's been from the last time my wife and I ate here Food = 3 stars ; food was warm / hot, wife had chorizo and eggs and I had Chile Colorado. Tortillas were home made. The food laced flavor in our opinion. Service = 5 stars ; service was on point, nice people that smiled. Food was serviced at same time and she came back and checked on us several times. Ambiance = 4 stars; this is a place where you come for the food and not the decor. It has not change much from 28 years - granted I am sure there was some sprucing up over the years, but not much changed that I could tell. It's one of the oldest restaurant in Stockton - wife and I would not go out of our way to eat here, but we were in the area on business and decided to give it a try again - it was a bit lacking in flavor fir my taste, but many people love the food. read more
