This is a sensational place that rivals some of the best restaurants in the Seattle area. It is a throwback. Warm, friendly and old time ambiance. The kind that really doesn't exist very much in any city, much less a city like Seattle. It's the kind of restaurant that we loved where I grew up in Brooklyn. Love the peppers or any of the pastas but especially the pesto. Also, great, included salads. The Caesar is terrific. My wife, who eats mainly vegetarian or vegan loves it too. We take our kids there often and larger parties. I hope this place is there forever. read more

I'm easy to please, let's get that out of the way. Good food and great service. The pricing for my food and drinks were fair. We had the entire family with us and we felt accommodated and respected. My mother and sister have known the owners a silly long time (30yrs) but it was my first time visiting. The best part of this place is the service. Enjoyed dinner at Angelos last Friday night. Had the Caesar salad, and the cheese ravioli. Glass of the house red. The service was prompt, courteous and helpful. The salad was good, though it could have used a bit more acid in the dressing. The ravioli was very nice, good fresh pasta made on site. My wife had the pasta Bolognese. Also good fresh made pasta. My wife and I went there based on the positive reviews I had read on Yelp. I have to say to all who rate this place highly - what are you thinking? We lived in Boston for a few years, and while there we kept getting fooled by recommendations to Italian places with "Good or "Great" food. We came to realize that people were commenting on the size of the portions and not the quality or distinctiveness of the food. Angelo's reminded us of those Boston restaurants - without the mega portions. The food was bland. The service - something everyone comments about - was indifferent. At times, we had either no service or several servers coming by. And it was noisy. Unless you are in one of the few booths, the noise from adjoining tables can loud. I understand why a restaurant like Angelo's remains in business - it provides a standard bill of fare to whose who want a regular place. We'll look elsewhere for our Italian fix. read more

Hands down the best waitress I've ever had in my life, so kind, sweet and helpful. The food and wine we ordered were all fantastic! I got the Filet Mignon Salad and my daughter the Linguine w/chicken and Gorgonzola cream sauce. We were stuffed and came home with enough leftovers for us to eat another meal each.. I have been eating at Angelos for years including a large party where we chose to celebrate a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, my last experience on Friday 12/14 night spoiled my entire experience at Angelos where I will never return. They were very busy that evening with different helping the server. I was so hungry I had to beg for a cup of soup while waiting for my order to be taken after waiting 30 minutes with only water. The waitress took the order. When my food arrived it was completely wrong a bowl of mushrooms instead of garden vegetables on the pasta primavera the food was bland and cold. The waitress raised her voice at me as the order was wrong. She stormed away the busser came by I asked for the owner he said the owner was not there and that our waitress was the Manager. Both were untrue as the owner later came over. The waitress never returned to apologize. The owner neither apologized as they were busy and unusual behavior from the server. SAVE your money on busy nights and go for lunch. read more

Well my wife used to live on the east side before we met and we were in the area looking for a bite to eat and she said Angelo's used to be really good. So we popped in after reading the reviews which seemed very very positive and absolutely were not disappointed. We ordered the seafood cannelloni and and the roakford fillet mignon and they were both absolute perfection. as we left I told my wife I don't see how that meal could've possibly been any better. If you don't go and eat at this restaurant you are missing a really really great meal! read more

An old fashioned Italian place. It dark and busy which can be nice in our rainy climate. Good service and friendly. The menu is your basic southern Italian. Prices are reasonable and the food is fine. I usually get the clams and linguine which is always good. Never had a bad clam. read more

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. We dined at Angelo's for the first time this past Saturday. They offer two menus - their classic menu and another one with 'seasonal specials'. Our experience was that the specials were far and away better than the traditional menu. We split a fried cauliflower appetizer from the new menu, and it was good, though it lacked a bit in seasoning. It appeared freshly made. The "minestrone" soup that came from the traditional menu was definitely not a minestrone soup. There was not a tomato base to the soup (it was a vegetable broth base instead), and there weren't any beans in it, which are typically the two hallmarks of minestrone. For the entrée, I ordered off the old menu and got the veal marsala, while my fiancée went with a rabbit pasta with sage butter. You could tell just in the plating that my dish was vastly inferior - the veal came out on a piece of china that looked 20 years old while hers was in a very modern looking bowl. The veal was awful - and I truly mean awful. It was tough, the sauce had lumps in it, the potatoes weren't cooked all the way through... it was truly a disaster. Her pasta though was great - rabbit was tender, pasta was cooked well, etc. $24 for the veal was highway robbery, particularly in comparison to the pasta dish at $18 I believe. So, while I don't think we will go out of our way to make it back, if I were back at Angelo's, I would stick to the specials and avoid the laminated, older menu. If I had to guess, I'd say the chef recently changed, and wanted to overhaul the menu, but the owners resisted, and so a compromise was reached by allowing a small handful of specials. read more

Last Sunday, we went for a dinner to celebrate our anniversary. We have not been in this place for over three years. The place has not changed and we think it is charming. However, the food took a deep dive. I don't think an authentic Italian restaurant should serve salad from a bag. If I wanted that, I would have got an entire bag for less than half of the price of one of the plates. The sauce was flat not spice or garlic. The chicken was also from a bag and absolutely flat. We could not eat the food. The little one pasta was ok and he ate from it. We left feeling not just unhappy but also ripped off. A 17 dollar plate for Alfredo Fettuccini with Chicken should have some taster instead being flat. We will not be back. read more

My family has been in Angelo's for 30 years, so I would be considered a special guest, I can even just walk into the kitchen, it is like a second home there. The people that work there are some of the best people I have ever met, but since I am a special guest, I do not order from the menu, I make up my own dish, which is normally gnocchi with meatballs and a creamy pesto. And when I get it, it is just amazing. I highly recommend this place, it is my favorite italian restaurant. Go and enjoy! read more

OMG! During our recent visit to Seattle & based on fellow yelpers' reviews, my husband & I chose Angelo's for dinner on Monday & had one of the worst dinners of our lives. Yes, we had to sit in the bar in order to be served as the dining room was closed. Yes, the bartender/server gave us good service. Yes, our entrees (pasta with pesto for me & spaghetti w/marinara & mushrooms for my husband) tasted fine. No, the lizard lounge atmosphere was not conducive to our dining experience. No, the Monday Night football blaring from all TV sets didn't help. We hastily ate, paid/tipped & left. But - within the hour we were both feeling "funny" & needed to lie down. The culprit of our discomfort was the mushrooms in my husband's entree. I had eaten 2 forkfuls of his dinner while he finished the entire dish. Therefore, he was more uncomfortable than me. So I am huge fan of Italian food and this place doesn't exactly hit the spot. For one, the location was kind of sketchy and out of downtown so it was a little inconvenient. There are people smoking right outside the entrance which was kind of bothersome. We made a reservation here but we just got a simple table, there were fancy booths that we wanted but they told me we had to book 2 weeks ahead of time, but really... even after dinner no one was sitting at the booths. The food here though is not bad, not the best but not that bad. I had a spicy sausage pasta but the noodles were not completely cooked, and because the noodles were so thick the sauce kept splattering everywhere. The bread was a bit burnt and way too hard, it actually scratched the roof of my mouth which wasn't pleasant. We also didn't really have one server, there was several people just coming to us and it was actually pretty unorganized because we were asked if we wanted more bread six times by different workers when we told them we were okay. I can't believe this place has 4 stars. The service was GREAT but the food, drink, and atmosphere was definitely a 1 star. I'm sorry, Angelo's. I've been wanting to find our go-to Italian restaurant but your Italian food was not very good. The food is overpriced for the lack of quality and flavor. The bread that came in the bread basket was slices of hard and stale bread with sesame seeds on the outside. We were expecting warm, soft and chewy sourdough or french bread. The tomato sauce on the pasta didn't have much taste. The store bought marinara in jars taste better. I'm sorry to say. The place is old and the atmosphere isn't very nice. Definitely 5 stars for the service though. I had to give a 1 star review because I was disappointed in the food. read more

Maybe I've been spoiled going up in an Italian family, but I was not impressed with this place. I was visiting Seattle and found this place on Yelp and was excited to try it out! I'm torn about Angelos. I like the retro Italian vibe and great bar. Their service is also excellent. However, the food needs a major upgrade on quality and portions for the price. On multiple visits I've tried veal Marsala, chicken piccata, fettuccini Alfredo, filet, and cannelloni. They are all ok but very small portions. The desserts are dated and pretty poor. If you go, order a pasta dish or just drink in the bar. read more

We went to Angelo's for my Mom's birthday dinner. Angelo's had a fun, retro vibe - madmen-esque. Good selection on the menu. We had clams and mushrooms in white wine sauce for an appetizer. For dinner, I had the filet mignon marsala and it was delicious and a pretty decent size portion. For dinner, mom had tiramisu that we all shared and cleaned the plate! The place was super busy, so I'd suggest reservations. If you want one of their fun booths - mention that because they are all reserved when you get there otherwise. I know it has history and the older crowd likes this place. But sorry, most of the dishes are average at best. Last time I got the clams linquini and they were obviously frozen and rubbery clams. Most of the sauces taste about like Prego. Bread is about like they got it at a store, took it out of the bag, and served it. My wife got the penne with proscutto and peas last time. It was oily, there was barely any proscutto, and it didn't have much flavor. It wasn't awful, but not worth the 15 plus dollars. There isn't much around Bellevue for Italian but Maggianos is better and Firenze is also better. read more

As this was our first time here, we ordered items we figured would be easy staples. The spaghetti with meat sauce and chicken Alfredo were extremely bland. No amount of Parmesan cheese or salt and pepper made it worth the price. I have to say that I was very disappointed in Angelo's Restaurant. Being an Italian from New York, I know the difference between good and bad Italian food. My husband got the minestrone and said it was too watery. He got the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and said it was really bland. I got the salad, and as other reviewers said, it was just wilted lettuce. The bread was store-bought and seemed old. For my entree, I got veal saltimboca. Veal is supposed to be tender. This was rubbery and extremely greasy because the type of mozzarella they use is the cheapest, greasiest kind that many pizza places use. The only flavor came from the prosciutto. What a disappointment. We did at least get a limoncello dessert that was okay, but I can honestly say the only thing that was decent was the wine. This place may have been good in the past, but it felt like too many corners were cut to save money. If Angelo's has been doing business this way forever, and the locals think this is "good" Italian, then my review won't sway anyone's opinion. But if you are from out-of-town and looking for a good Italian place, look elsewhere. You'd do much better at a chain restaurant like Maggiano's. read more

Others may beg to differ since the restaurant and lounge was packed with regulars. Had lots of parking. Visited Angelo's for the first time since I was a kid last night. We were greeted promptly upon entering and shown to our table. The service staff was very friendly and helpful. I ordered the seafood cannelloni and enjoyed it very much. I am not very highbrow when it comes to dining - I am usually looking for food that tastes good and is served promptly. Both of those were met. The menu is fairly limited with a few items in each category (fish, meat, chicken, pasta) but I kind of like that. I hate when I go to a restaurant and I am handed a novel of a menu. My least favorite part was the salad. It was pretty underwhelming. I actually like the dressing (house dressing) but the salad itself was damp iceberg lettuce with a smattering of purple cabbage. I ate it - it didn't really taste too bad, but was a pretty pitiful showing for a dinner salad. I will definitely return to Angelo's for more good food. read more

I totally love this place!! They cook the salmon perfectly EVERY time. They get it right EVERY time which is amazing. Other places I have tried often overcook salmon. I go there with my Italian boyfriend and he is very picky. He loves it too. I can't say enough good things about Angelo's. Great service, reasonable prices. Parking can be tight, but we always find a spot. But we go early around 5-5:30pm. The old people hour. ;) read more

It's hard to find really good Italian in Seattle, and this may be one of the better places I've been to. Don't let the strip mall location deter you. The Caesar salad dressing is made on the premises and it's very thick. When we put in the order we asked that they have a light hand with the dressing (to avoid having the lettuce completely drenched in dressing) and the kitchen was able to oblige us. The pasta tasted like it was freshly made. I had the linguine with pesto which was excellent. The pesto also seemed freshly made - you can actually see pieces of basil leaf - and had pine nuts which I love. The bread also seemed fresh - not amazing, but not the usual, hard crusty stuff you usually get in restaurants. The restaurant has tables and big, half-circle booths with high backs, which provide privacy (and possibly noise reduction if you're a boisterous party). The only quibble I had was that our waiter was a little off-putting. Maybe he was new and nervous, but he was a little too familiar with us - we don't need the sir/ma'am treatment, but he was a little odd. read more

Angelo's catered our daughter's wedding, and all went great. Justin, the chef, consulted with me beforehand and made helpful suggestions to make sure I ordered exactly what was needed. Then, he delivered the food hot and tasty. The crowd favorites were the chicken Alfredo dish and the chicken cacciatore. My boyfriend and I went here for Valentine's day dinner and we loved it. The service was great. The atmosphere was not fancy, but not terrible. The food was yummy, and our bill was only $41! we both had drinks, too. Like the other reviewers have said, they pour them stiffly. I would recommend Angelo's for sure. read more
