I'll admit, I originally planned to get pierced at Rowan Target. After talking with an experienced friend, she convinced me to go to a real piercing shop and I am so glad I listened. This piercing shop is located inside of a strip mall that is somewhat a journey to find. You walk in and are met with basically what looks like a flea market but indoors! Angels Body Piercing is right at the front. I was so extremely nervous because my main concern with any piercing is cleanliness and sterilization. The last thing I wanted was an infection. Maria was absolutely amazing. Very clean! Changes gloves and a whole wipe down between customers as they should. You're given hand sanitizer to clean your hands. Your ears are properly cleaned with an alcohol swab. All jewelry is packed in their own small sterile packages. My first piercing I had since I was a baby was uneven. Despite that, Maria was able to make my new piercing nice and even! The pain was not bad at all. The earrings are screwed on so they don't get undone. She was quick and so very kind to my nervousness. Maria truly is the best and I would recommend her to anyone. I also appreciate that when I asked a few questions, she made it a point to tell my friend and I that they cannot answer any questions over the phone about the piercings. The reason being is that no pictures or videos are suffice- they want you to come in so they can carefully examine it and direct you as accurate as possble (such as if you must go seek medical attention). This shows to me that they truly care about their customers and are not dismissive and this policy is very ethical! Overall, I loved my experience. I'll be the first to admit- I originally thought it was shady from looking at it at first and was going to back out. I'm glad I didn't because they are all wonderful and they know what they're doing. I guess my only note would be the price point. I referred to their website which was great that it stated $25 per ear, with extra cost for different earrings. I chose to upgrade which added another $15 per ear. No problem. The only issue is that there's an additional cost if you use credit card, I wish this was disclosed on their website. About $10 for both ears. I also had thought that the piercing came along with the care kit that some places usually provide. That was another $25. Plus tip, which I felt was well deserved. All in all, it cost $127.80 which was way higher than I anticipated. Still, it was a great service, and I love my second ear piercing. I have no regrets. Please come support Angels Body Piercing! Charged $20 ("on sale"...LOL) for four 16 gauge plastic retainers for my early piercings that needed to be taken out for surgery. Stated that she charges $25 per piercing (!!) to swap out piercings for retainers. Needless to say, I left and went elsewhere after discovering that I couldn't get my threaded jewelry out. My piercing was a while ago. During the summer im pretty sure, and i was super excited to get them. after the three month they were still bleeding kinda and not healing. I waited because it also depends on the person long story short the hole is crooked. Im sure and every time i try to put it in it hurts and i cant find the hole and it bleeds as well. Maria pierced my ears; my third piercing on each ear. I went home. A few days later noticed that the piercing was crooked. I went back to Maria and politely brought to her attention my concern. She was agitated by me, got defensive, insisting that her piercing is not crooked, but it was my old piercings that are crooked. I told her that I will go home and ask for 2nd opinion of my friends who have multiple piercings. I did that, as well as consult a plastic surgeon, as I was going to him to sow up my lowest and oldest (40 yr) piercing that had gotten stretched over the years. Everyone confirmed that Maria's piercing was crooked. I went back to the shop and got an incredibly poor reception from her and her partner (husband? Juan?). I explained that all my friends, including a professional, concurred that her piercing was crooked. She proceeded to argue, then asked for my id, then said fine I will redo it and not charge you. I smiled and said "I certainly did not expect you to charge me, as I already paid you". Her attitude continued, and harsher. I told her that at that point I was not even feeling comfortable that she was going to pierce me in the right spot and that maybe I should mark up the hole with a pen at home with the assistance of a friend or my plastic surgeon, but Maria refused. She said that she will mark the hole and I can tell her where to move it. So why can't I just mark the hole at home with the aid of my friends and/or Dr? It was baffling. Kind of like she just wanted to be stubborn and argue. Juan (?) then jumped in and got even more mouthy with me. I was flabbergasted. Maria's final comment: "you can do it now or forget about it". Hell no! I left. I have never experienced such rude, arrogant, indifferent, and unsympathetic service. Located in a difficult-to-find area, once inside I felt comfortable asking lots of questions about the quality of metals and the sterilization of tools. The whole process was very easy! Maria stressed that she prioritized a good healing process which was a great sign to me as someone with many piercings to begin with. Jewelry price points range from approx. $10-$40, depending on the type of metal and jewelry. I opted for 14k gold for both piercings (my first flat and a middle helix on my other ear). I would not recommend this place at all and it was highly unprofessional. This place located in a really empty plaza shopping center, which was probably not a good sign, and I left not enjoying the piercings I got here. I got pierced by Maria and I left in consistent pain days after getting pierced because of how tight she screwed my piercing on. I genuinely don't know if she meant to tighten it that much, but I was in so much pain because of how tightly screwed on it was. It was on REALLY, really tight. Also, for fair warning to customers, some of the standard jewelry they give for free is super short, which is part of the reason why I was in so much pain. I'm not a professional, but I realize now that jewelry for certain areas should not be that short. Also, even though the jewelry was too small for size, she decided she'd tighten it a LOT, and I mistakenly let her. I trusted that her action was well informed because she seemed very professional and well intended. She had many certificates on the wall and she spoke with a lot of charm. She was very confident and kind. Regardless of, I was in a lot of pain right after. I thought it would get better after a few days, but it didn't and I decided it was time to try and remove it. I was bleeding for 25 minutes trying to remove it. I should've maybe gone back to the shop for her to remove it herself like she asked of me, but part of me believed she wasn't as professional as I made out to be and I honestly don't trust her. Why would you be that experienced with a wall covered in piercing certificates, yet choose to use such a small piece of jewelry as the standard piece of jewelry to give to paying customers and DECIDE, as a professional, to tighten such a short piece of jewelry to such a tight spot on someone's body? They charge so much too. I shouldn't have been in so much pain and been caused so much trouble for a piercing if I'm paying for an experience done by supposed knowledgeable professionals. I did eventually remove it, but really, at what costs? I'm so upset, disappointed, angry, and I was in sooo much pain. I will not come back here. At the end of my visit, I had spent a good amount of money for piercings, but I left with a really uncomfortably tight piercing that left me bleeding with a red ear and aching pain that lasted for so long after.
