I wish I could give this place zero stars. They were highly recommended to me by hospice of the Valley. I cannot begin to express my disappointment. My first experience was a phone call answered by Sandy. She was informative, professional and provided a sympathetic ear. After my loved one passed and was brought to Angel's, I made an appointment with a representative in order to facilitate cremation of my loved one. This was a horrendous experience. The funeral director was half an hour late, he did apologize, however, he never introduced himself, did not offer condolences, didn't shake my hand, didn't ask our names and had no idea who would be making decisions and paying for the services . I would've walked out then but my loved one was there. Also he was referred to as my loved one, never by name. I might as well have spoken to a robot. This was an extremely impersonal experience at a time when an sympathetic ear is needed. All the funeral director did was explain state regulations and requirements. It could've been on video tape. As he exited the room I asked his name. It was Don. Sounded bored to tears with his job of 15 years. A few days later, I received a phone call from someone named Tony. She informed me That my loved one's remains did not fit in the urn supplied by my church. I was horrified. This is the size needed to fit in the niche. I've never heard of this before from anyone else who's family member is already resting there. I mentioned that to her. She said she would see if she could make it settle down and fit and would call me in about an hour. I never heard from her so I called her back. She informed me that she was able to make things fit. Why in the world was a phone call of this most unprofessional nature made to me? It only upset and disturbed me more. Based on my experience, I can never recommend this place and have advised hospice to take it off their list. The staff needs sensitivity and problem-solving training. Other than Sandy, they exhibited a complete lack of professionalism. Having buried other relatives, I only had professional and positive experiences elsewhere. Price is competitive here but that's about it and price was not my main concern. read more

My older Brother recently passed away two and a half weeks ago and we were given Angels Cremation & Burials as a recommendation. Because my Brother had no life insurance and his death was very sudden and unexpected, price was a considerable factor in making a decision on which funeral home we would ultimately choose. A friend of the family went out of his way to research half a dozen funeral homes and based on the information he received we scheduled an appointment with Angels. The funeral director was running just a few minutes late, but when she sat with us to discuss the arrangements she was very straightforward and explained every step of the process and answered all of our questions. When concerns of costs came up and deciding on an urn she went so far as to say that she's recommended to her customers going to a store and looking at any type of container from cookie jars to ceramic pots, etc. The only time I felt a little rushed was near the end when my Father was filling out the death certificate paperwork. She had stepped out to give us time to do this and we were almost done, but when she came back she stood over him verifying what information was in and then started directing him on the rest of the unfilled questions. As an aside, we had an out of state relative who was insistent on wanting to see my Brother's body before the cremation. Since we were not having a viewing or services at their facility we asked what their policy was regarding situations such as this. The funeral director said they give family 15 minutes to have a final visit, but warned that depending on their condition they reserved the right to allow access. She said that she would never subject anyone to an unpleasant and potentially traumatic experience. The last thing she would want is to have that image remain as the final image of their loved one and I could not have agreed more with her. Throughout the whole process she never made my Father, our friend, my partner, or myself feel uncomfortable. I had fears and high anxiety over what was going to happen at the appointment, but all those feelings were completely unwarranted. I would highly recommend Angels to anyone that is in need of funeral services. read more

The staff at Angels was so kind and compassionate with my husband and I after the loss of our baby girl. The owner stayed after hours one night to assist us in selecting an urn for our baby. We had been to several other mortuaries and had no help and were just left alone in a room with catalogs of urns to look through. We had a very clear idea of what we wanted and she helped us to find it. She also transferred our baby's remains into the new urn in a very respectful manner. I was referred to Angel's Cremation by someone who had done business with this company before. Based on the information I gathered I was certain Angel's would be MORE than sufficient for my needs. True to form, Angel's came through for myself & my family. I lost my elderly Mother just after the Holidays. Still dealing with the "stresses" of the Holidays, I was now having to deal with the devastating loss of my Mom. From the moment I picked up the phone to call, till the moment I picked up my Mom's ashes - which was AFTER hrs. I might add, because it was 'convenient' for me - dealing with SANDY was an AWESOME experience! She was professional, knowledgeable, and MOST of all, she was COMPASSIONATE!!! Now you might wonder, "Well, if she was sooo awesome, why didn't you give the review 5 STARS!!!" Fair Question...Reasonable explanation: Angel's had just hired a group of new employees just prior to my loss. (I imagine not very many people make careers for themselves in the "Dying" Industry. Think about it!! The turn-over must be unbelievable!) On a couple of occasions (just 2) I was given erroneous information. Nothing earth-shattering. Just some slight "miscommunication." (And now you're wondering why I didn't scream 'bloody muder!,' right?! C'mon...haven't you ever been new to a job & messed-up? (If you say, "Never!," you're lying!!!) Plus, I was already in an indescribable state from the loss of my Mom...what good would it have done me to get upset & irate?!! It would have made the matter worse, made me lose my mind, AND...it would NOT have brought my Mom back!!!) Civility prevailed here (my Mom would have been proud!) & the rest of the ordeal went smoothly & without a hitch! (So, to answer your question, that's why I deducted One Star. The deduction was made to send a msg to Angel's Mgmnt to improve the "training" of their new employees! That's all!) As for SANDY...if I could, I'd give her 10 STARS!!! As I mentioned previously, she stayed late one evening to make it convenient for me to pick-up Mom. She took the time to explain EVERYTHING to me about the entire process. Then answered a slew of questions we had later. She called me to keep me updated & informed of anything I needed or wanted to urgently know...AFTER HOURS & OVER THE WEEKEND! She NEVER kept me waiting for "Normal Business Hours!" When picking out our Urn, as trivial as it may seem, another company may have rushed the process, but she did not. She explained the 'pros & cons' about each, since we were going to travel with Mom & lay her to rest back Home, in another state. She treated us as if we were the only one's that mattered, despite the fact that their office was crazy BUSY!!! THEN...a week LATER she sent my family a condolence card with the question & statement of: "Hope all is well...sorry for your loss. Is there's anything else I can do for you & your family?... please let me know!" WOW! She didn't just take our money & shove me & my Mom's ashes out the door!!! Since this was the very 1st time having to go through anything of this caliber, I would have to say overall, I am glad I went through it with Sandy. Before parting company for good, as our business together had concluded, I asked her, "Why & How can you be soooo patient & compassionate like you are, when you're dealing with unhappy/sad/angry people alllll day long?!!!" Her answer summed it all up for me & made perfect sense!!! She answered, "I was once in your position, having lost a loved one. (That's how she referred to my Mom the ENTIRE time; "loved one.") I was treated so poorly, rudely & without ANY compassion during my loss, that I decided if I can help anyone else NOT experience the same thing I would do something about it! They have to be the most unprofessional people in the business. They were greedy, rude, and unhelpful. Don't look for mercy or understanding here. I have waited a year since my brother's death to write this lest I be rash. If you are out of town, they are useless. If your beloved is a Veteran, they are matter-of-fact and uncaring. If you must ship cremains intrastate, they are no help. They OFFER no assistance at all other than forms, forms, forms. Forms are their only skill. They must know how to fake a compassion demeanor in person, but their phone skills are atrocious. Their internet skills are nil. The remembrance of their rudeness still makes me sick. The only good experience from the people at Angels, was the night time caretaker. He was polite & made us comfortable with the sudden choice that had to be made. The sudden passing of my mother left us not knowing what the process would be. We met to discuss arrangements & felt the lady was cold, showed little compassion. We decided to have our mother taken somewhere else. I felt they should have been more understanding in our time of need! read more

Our daughter was stillborn and we were given a list of local places and Angels was on the list. My husband said setting up the appointment was relatively easy, but when we went in for our appointment we were directed into a room and waited. Once the director came in, she asked which urn we had selected when we were never told that was the reason that they placed us in that room. Though a relatively easy process, I felt rushed to select an urn as the woman waited in the room rather than giving us time to look over everything. Almost a week later, still obviously distraught, we went in to pick up our daughter's ashes and the woman was on her cell phone, told the person to hold, and continued her call while going to get my daughter's ashes. I could hear her remaining on her phone the entire time with a person I was assuming was her daughter, for a seemingly meaningless call, while I was bawling and my husband was in a somber mood. She brought out the urn while still on the phone and told her person to hold because she had to give me my "cremains" and then proceeded with her call, never moving the phone from her ear. I find that COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL and incredibly rude! I cannot believe that they would treat one's remains as though they were handing someone a stick of gum. Where is the compassion with this company? The only reason they get two stars is that the financial aspect was fairly straightforward. They have left a sour taste in my mouth. read more

I was emotional and needing to make funeral arrangements for a loved one. Previously I had another company pick up my loved one, but in trying to make arrangements I felt like I was being misled, manipulated, and sold things I didn't need. Especially when I was trying to keep costs down, unsure at first how I was going to pay for it. I called Angel's to see if they had any different options for me. Sandy was so compassionate and understanding of my situation. I had my loved one transferred to Angel's and everything was smooth from that point forward. I also learned a few things. 1) Don't allow anyone to pressure you into committing to something you're not comfortable with. 2) You can have your loved one transferred to another company. If you haven't signed anything they can't legally send you a bill for the pickup but I did send a check to the other company for what I felt was appropriate for their service. 3) You can purchase a casket from anywhere. I had one priced online, but Sandy offered me a competitively priced option that I opted for. 4) If requested, funeral costs must be given over the phone (by law), even though many places want you to make an appointment and may not share their best prices first, so ask! 5) Take someone with you, not only for emotional support but talk about what you want and your budget before so you have something in mind and are not pressured into over-purchasing. 6) go online to www.funeralboard.az.gov and read "Consumer Guide to Arizona Funerals" brochure. It will spell out your rights! Sandy gave me all the information and options I needed to make the choices that were appropriate for me, my situation, and my loved one. I felt Sandy wasn't trying to sell me more than what I wanted and I knew there were options on all price levels. Thank you Angel's, you really lived up to your name! read more

Angel's Cremation and Burials was outstanding with helping my family through the final process of our dad's death. My dad past away in April 2014, and from helping us when we didn't know that we should have set up an appointment, they made time for us to helping us through filling out the paper work needed for the process (Sandy even had to wait, keep in mind we didn't have an appointment to call family to get some of the information needed to complete the forms). I have read the other reviews on yelp and Angel's / Sandy never made my family or me feel like they were just out to make money with no compassion or empathy. Although they were straight forward about what had to be filled out and how and about all the expected things involved (cost, time it would take, detail in filling out forms, etc...) never were we made to feel they didn't care or have compassion about what we were going through.The reason it took so long for me to write this review should be self evident as it takes time to get to where you can review for something of this nature, but the hand written cards I received sense my dad's passing was the deciding factor in this review.
