Me waiting for the theater to start.

I went to see a movie today and our movie was supposed to start at 4 pm. At 4:25 pm they turned on the sound NOT the screen. Finally at 4:30 they turned on the screen. Horrible experience.

A cozy experience in a small town theater. Arrive early to find parking as this small main town street can get busy in the evenings.

Tonight we took in a movie of Puss 'n Boots in theater #5. This only seated 17 people but the chairs were comfortable and reclined electronically along with a footrest. It seems like they were possibly recent upgrades. They were the nicest seats in a movie setting I've experienced. The seats also had swivel desktops that reminded me of something we had at school in junior and high school years. One minor drawback is when seated one sunk in lower in the chair than was ideal. They also had admission and popcorn prices were seriously so reasonable compared with theaters in metropolitan areas. You would of thought they were throw back prices of a bygone era. A welcome choice to visit.

It's always been any movie starting before 6pm :)

Do they have a snack bar with food or is it just popcorn? No one mentioned food in their reviews. Thank you.

Our hot food selection includes pizzas, hot dogs, warm soft pretzels, and nachos.

This did happen to me once in the last six or so months I've lived here. My buddy and I had to go to Stockton for Zootopia, which had been out for months by that point. So, the only game in town means plan ahead. I've never seen it dead here before. So far. What do I know, these aren't the reviews you're looking for. Move along. Lol I do love reviewing the cinema though. Lodi 12 is usually a happening spot when I come. And it is at least competitive with other theatre chains in the area. It is part of the Santa Rosa Cinemas, a smaller family-run business that has, from what I can tell, a handful theatres in Central (and Ventura?) California. Though it's probably not much older than me, the building has a bit of a retro feel, with big lobby windows in a semi-circle and bright yellow marquee at night. I am a sucker for a retro cinema if you've read my other movie theatre reviews, but any cinema with character will be appreciated by me. The only upgrade I would prefer would be to get rid of the need to print a paper ticket, even if you buy online ahead of time. Whoever is cheaping out on a scanner for QR codes, get with it and save some trees. It would even be okay if they were old school ticket stubs for the nostalgia (I love cinema nostalgia and will go out of my way for it), at least they would look pretty in my novelty shadowbox, but nah, they're just receipt roll paper. Alas I digress; I don't like wasting time doing that when I could be in line for popcorn or taking a selfie with Heathcliff. Some auditoriums are nicer than others but I believe all have recliners and the little swivel tables that make me feel like a baby. I have not seen any evidence of wear and tear on the seats like in some of these pictures on here, eesh. They have multiple screens that utilize Dolby Atmos / Ultimate Digital Cinema surround sound, and at least one auditorium that has Real D 3D for the 3D enjoyers. As a four eyes, making myself a six eyes for the rare, usually James Cameron backed adventure is about all I care to partake of. Sound and screens are great and have been recently upgraded. I do enjoy coming here and feel the amenities are satisfactory. Snack and food selection is good, and the popcorn is fresh. They have a wine and beer kiosk as well, though we usually come after a meal and thus have not yet partaken of libations here. This cinema is in downtown Lodi, and does not have a parking lot. Street parking is usually not far away. Maybe see you later for another totally necessary screening of My Dad and His Son Baby Yoda. This is the way.

We booked tickets the night before via the Regal app. Tuesdays are the cheapest days and honestly our favorite day of the week to go watch a movie anyway, since Tuesdays are statistically the day where the least people go out. We chose the EDH location since we figured it would be the nicest one in our radius. I was correct. Parking was a breeze, with a good-sized lot on the side of the theater. Upon entering the lobby, there are kiosks to order tickets if you don't want to speak to an attendant. We already had the QR code for our tickets on our phones so it was easy to check in with the lady up front. We headed straight to the refreshments area after checking in, and while I was sad to see Regal no longer offered the snack pack, we both liked and ultimately ordered the single combo, which is one large drink of choice, one large popcorn, and one bag of candy that you get to choose from the queue. We went with a cherry ICEE and a bag of Hi-Chew. The staff were friendly and there was pretty much no line. The bathrooms were clean with plenty of stalls, no notes there. We have been seeing the ads and reviews for Backrooms, and I love a good psychological horror/thriller. It ended up being a great choice. The seats were comfy (and reclined!), and the theater was clean. The AC was cool, the speakers were balanced, the screen was clear, and overall it was a fantastic experience. We will be back to this Regal location the next time we choose to go out for a movie!

My family and I arrived around 4:00 PM, had our tickets scanned, and were directed to Theater 12. When we entered, the room was unusually warm and there were no trailers playing, which immediately seemed odd. After waiting a few minutes, I stepped outside to see what was going on and discovered that Trainspotting had been moved to a different auditorium without any notification to ticket holders. By the time I located the correct theater at approximately 4:08 PM, the movie was already playing. Unlike virtually every modern theater experience, there had been no trailers or previews beforehand. The film had started right at 4:00 PM, causing us to miss the opening several minutes through no fault of our own. I spoke with a supervisor or manager and explained the situation. He told me the movie had been moved because of a projector issue in the original auditorium. While I understand equipment problems happen, I asked if the movie could simply be restarted since it was only about 5-10 minutes into the film. He refused, stating there wasn't enough time before the next scheduled showing in that theater. What makes this especially frustrating is that after leaving, I checked the schedule. The next movie in that auditorium wasn't scheduled until 6:50 PM. Trainspotting is only 93 minutes long. Even if the film had been restarted at 4:10 PM when I made the request, it would have ended around 5:43 PM, still leaving more than an hour before the next scheduled showtime. The theater did refund our tickets, and after I expressed my dissatisfaction they provided four small popcorn and soda vouchers. I appreciate that gesture, but it doesn't change the fact that we drove roughly 30 minutes each way from Roseville specifically for this screening and ended up missing part of the film. (We ended up leaving and not watching the film since Trainspotting is one you have to see it from the beginning) What bothered me most wasn't the projector failure. Equipment issues happen. The problem was the lack of communication, starting the movie without the customary trailers, and refusing a reasonable solution without apparently checking whether scheduling constraints actually existed. I also noticed at least two other customers arriving late and appearing confused about the theater change, so it didn't seem like we were the only ones affected. I appreciate the refund and vouchers, but overall this was a frustrating and unprofessional customer experience that could have been easily avoided with better communication.

They're "did this render on a calculator." It's giving PS1. It's giving early Tomb Raider triangles. Pointy mountains. Flat water. Characters moving like they're buffering. I kept waiting for it to level up and it never did. It felt less like immersive VR and more like I paid to watch someone's unfinished game demo in a headset. And that's what makes it frustrating. The seats and the setup scream "this is about to be Soarin'." Like Disney California Adventure. Wind. Depth. Realism. That feeling where your stomach drops and you forget you're in a room. Instead I got "high tech seats" attached to low-tech visuals. Like putting a spoiler on a Prius and calling it a race car. The experience is clunky too. The motion doesn't match the visuals well enough to sell the illusion. So you're not transported. You're just... aware. Aware of the headset. Aware of the chair. Aware you spent real money to time travel backwards in graphics history. This should be breathtaking. It's barely "interesting." It's the kind of VR where you start roasting it mid-ride. Quietly. To yourself. Like, "oh wow, look at that polygon. She's thriving." If there was a "skip cutscene" button, I would've pressed it with my soul. Now here's the twist. The staff is the best part of the entire place. Super helpful. Genuinely kind. Patient. They felt bad that the VR wasn't hitting and you could tell they were trying to make it right with hospitality alone. That's rare. They're the reason I'm not giving this place a full villain edit. Restrooms were decently cleaned. Not sparkling, but respectable. Minus a couple moments that made me wash my hands like I was prepping for surgery. Bottom line. Come with zero expectations for the VR. Like subterranean expectations. If they ever upgrade the content, this could be amazing. Right now it's a tech tease with bargain-bin visuals. Staff deserves a raise for carrying the whole thing on their backs. It's giving... Avatar prices with Minecraft graphics. It's giving... Soarin' from Temu.

Incredibly uncomfortable!…read more My dad and I decided to switch up our routine and visit the Regal Turlock location since they had an earlier showing of the movie we wanted to watch (Crime 101). We had bought vouchers online at TicketsatWork for our tickets and snacks. When we presented them at the concession stand, the worker seemed to have never seen them before. She scanned the vouchers and added the items we requested to the system but was having trouble removing the cost of the items. She had to call over another coworker to instruct her on how to do it. Thankfully we arrived early, otherwise we would have likely missed the beginning of the movie because it took quite a while. After the second worker helped us, we were able to upgrade the voucher's small popcorn and drink to a large for only a few dollars. We noticed that this theater does not offer a self-serve butter machine. You have to tell the concessions worker that you want butter on your popcorn and hope that they will do it sufficiently. The theaters themselves are truly awful. I was expecting the seating to be like the other nearby Regal locations but was quickly disappointed. The seats here do not recline and are incredibly tiny. I have been on budget planes with more spacious and comfortable seats than this. They are cramped with no leg room at all. The backs of the chairs are short so if you are tall, your neck will just be flopping around. When the movie ended, they did not even raise the lights. They left the theater pitch black as the credits roll where they usually raise them so people can exit safely. I would say though that I appreciate them having security (although minimal). About a quarter of the way into the movie, a man with a orange cone flashlight came in, stood for a while, and left. I will not be coming back and will keep going to the Modesto location.
