Animal Fries special

I rave about this spot to everyone. Depending on what you get, it can get pricey but you taste the quality and can see why whether you order delivery, head to their drive-thru, or go inside...you'll understand the hype! I love their sides, they do specials that change so it's always worth a try. You'll like something there, from familiar to strange combinations..as a picky eater, this spot has ignited my love for exploring flavors. I love everything they do, tips help them keep everything great. This spot deserves it because everyone is so kind, patient, and helpful! They have free video games, giant TVs, great drinks like faygos and slushies. I love the decor because it's an old school flare since it's an old Taco Bell building. I love the vibe, it is calm and welcoming! I have old photos of a special and an amazing deep dish pizza, but their consistency of appearance, taste, and great quality is always the same! I recall they changed the boxes to brown regular pizza boxes, I was surprised because their original boxes were just like the exterior of the building Angry Pete's Logo but that's okay, everything is still great!!

Angry Pete's Pizza - San Diego We've been to Angry Pete's multiple times now, and every single visit has been spot-on. We even hosted a small event there recently, and the entire staff absolutely crushed it. The employees were terrific, attentive, and completely on point the whole time. The food? Amazing. Every pizza we've tried has been full of flavor and cooked perfectly. Our group couldn't have been happier with the service or the quality. Angry Pete's has definitely become one of our go-to spots in San Diego. Highly recommend! We love the old school retro Taco Bell theme and there's a little arcade games for the kids to play as well as lots of TVs for sports to watch!

I can only speak for the spartan and I say OMG DELICIOUS!!! I have tried both the detroit style and today I tried the new thin crust. I love both, the thin crust was small for the price but super good!

I came to Angry Petes Pizza to experience a bit of nostalgia in the form of Detroit style pizza, a coney dog, and Faygo pop. They even had Vernors ginger ale in stock. Their operation is set up at the Kensington Brewing Company with seating outdoors under a canopy. Curbside parking along Adams Ave in the Kensington neighborhood wasn't bad because not all of the businesses have reopened during this time. There were three choices of Detroit style pizza so I chose a piece of two of them for $5 each, the Double Pepperoni and the Four Cheese Blend. The ingredients in the first were sliced pepperoni, diced pepperoni, tomato sauce, Grande mozzarella and parmesan cheeses, a blend of Wisconsin brick and provolone cheeses, and micro basil. The second had the same cheeses without the addition of the pepperoni. While I enjoyed the airy crust with the crispy edges, the other components didn't quite hit the mark for me. I have tried numerous versions back in the state of origin, and the toppings were much more cohesive. The micro basil was a distraction rather than an added touch. I also sampled a Detroit style coney dog which was $5 too. Coney sauce (i.e. chili), yellow mustard, and minced onions were ladled on top of a Koegel's coney frankfurter. The sauce didn't seem fresh, and the frank didn't have quite the snap to the casing that I have tasted in the past. I washed my meal down with a bottle of Faygo Creme Soda which you can't go wrong with. The refrigerator had at least eight different flavors from which to choose so come here if you want to buy 23 oz of fun tasting soda. The overall experience resulted in some mixed memories of days gone by, but I did appreciate the owner's efforts of importing this type of Motor City comfort food to San Diego.

That Pete may be angry, but he made this Pete (and Becky) very happy. We ran into Angry Pete's at Burning Beard again and once again we were very pleased. Bex had the Double Pepperoni again. Her go-to. I like to try different and unique things so I opted for the Sweet and Spicy Cherry BBQ Hawaiian. Black forest ham, pineapple, cherry honey habanero BBQ sauce, provolone, Grande Mozzarella and Wisconsin blend cheeses. This was one excellent slice of Detroit style pizza. The BBQ sauce was bomb! Different and unique for sure! I know there are a lot of people who insist that pineapple does not belong on pizza. To them I say, "Pineapple does not belong on YOUR pizza"! Keep doing your thing Angry Pete!

Pizza time!

I say this with love.... This is a great dive bar... kind of strange the night visited all the men were upstairs and all the women downstairs (by the pool tables) all the signs say to order at the bar which was difficult because there wasn't a bare space to belly up... I finally just asked the pizza guy and he helped us out... we tried 4 different pizzas... OMG so good... messy but good! A bunch of guys let us know about Ladies Night and encouraged us to come back.... Always nice to feel welcome

That's pizza.

I'll just post the pics and let you decide. I did contact through ordering site with no response. These slices were nearly $15 with fees. A very thin painted on cheese hiding under a mound of sauce. It was not hot or fresh.

Angry Pete sure smiles a lot for someone who is so angry...Wait, I don't want to hurt the brand- he's real angry, vicious even. But you should come on by and order some pizza and see for yourself if he's angry. Where? Desi's! My favorite bar to hangout in in all of SD. You can find me there at least once a month, hanging out on a comfy barstool, sipping something with bourbon, and stuffing my face. Angry Pete's specialty is pizza. I should know- I've had quite a few slices of it. Detroit Style is one of my favorite ways to eat carbs. It's the crispy cheese that does it for me. Pete has all kinds from a classic 5 cheese or pepperoni, to seasonal slices for Thanksgiving, to meatball & ricotta or fried chicken tender with hot honey drizzle. The pepperoni is a classic, tried and true, but sometimes you wanna go for something different. Pete gets that. The whole pizzas are 4 slices. A couple of these thick squares feels like a meal to me, so I like to split a pie or get a slice or two for myself. The menu, including the pizza options, changes often. Pete rotates out items so he can better accomodate his new snacks, but also keep a stock of popular items going. There is only one item he has taken away that I'd like to petition to get back on the menu- the hard shell hot dog taco. (Angelo's Hard Shell Coney Taco- frank, ground beef, fried tortilla, american cheese, lettuce, tapatio crema, and onion for those unfamiliar with this handheld GEM.) Please, Pete. I need my taco hot dog fix. I admit I ordered it the first time thinking "Whaaaat? Why would anybody want this? It's gonna be bad.' But I loved it. Then I came back 3 hours and a few more cocktails later to order another. Honestly I would have kept ordering them every time I came in. So in a way Pete saved me from myself and this hot dog hard shell hell loop. But some of us don't want to be saved. Let me have my weird bunless wieners. Please and thank you. But until the most magical of days arrives and the hot dog taco is back on the menu- I'll be eating my way around other such goodies as the fried chicken sliders (Zug Island Trashville Hot Honey Sliders to be exact), JoJos which are DELICOUS potato wedges, coney dogs (yaaassss), burgers, and whatever tacos are currently on the menu. Think snacky things, perfect for an after work bite when you just want a beer and to unwind for a bit. Or maybe before you head home after drinking a little too much. Snack, full meal, dine-in or takeout- the choice is yours! Angry Pete's is a great addition to my favorite hangout. These pizzas are slung at pop-ups and breweries in many locations around SD, but Desi's has the full menu. I've enjoyed so many nights eating these tasty snacks solo or while making new friends. Hopefully you can do the same!

Waited over 10 minutes for this hotdog that I ordered in person.

I was a bit hesitant because I typically cook my noodles IN the sauce versus topping them with sauce but this meal did not disappoint. Both the meat in the ravioli and sauce were very flavorful. The spinach raviolis were excellent--flavorful, perfectly cooked, and definitely the highlight of my meal. Unfortunately, the veal was a major disappointment. It was extremely tough and difficult to cut and chew. I ended up leaving almost the entire entrée on my plate because I simply couldn't enjoy it. My husband and I both commented that it didn't have the tenderness or delicate texture we normally associate with veal. True veal should be tender, fine-grained, and easy to cut with a fork, but this was quite the opposite. Based on this experience, I would not order another meat entrée from this restaurant. It's unfortunate because the ravioli showed that the kitchen is capable of preparing excellent food. I hope the restaurant will review the quality of the meat it serves, as it made an otherwise pleasant visit very disappointing.

We began…read morethe meal with the mini fried calzones with mozzarella and tomato sauce inside and they were great. You could tell the bread was super fresh and high quality so I would recommend it. Next, we got a glass of prosecco. I told the waiter that I only like wine that tastes much more sweet then bitter or strong and he made a perfect suggestion along with giving us a sampler of 3 different wines which was so generous. I got to try them all and pick the one I liked the most, but even the samples were a generous size. For main course I got one of the current options for the cheese wheel pasta they make in front of you in cacio e pepe and my husband got the formaggi pizza with truffle mushrooms. My husband absolutely loved his pizza and the crust was one of the best he's ever had. My pasta was fresh and had a ton of sauce and cream so they didn't skimp at all. I could tell easily that they use very high quality Parmesan because i'm a Parmesan connoisseur and could taste how potent it was. They let me have as much extra as I wanted on without limiting since I enjoy a lot on it which was also a plus in my book. Next time I would get a pasta that's a little lighter, because it was a more heavy dish and it tends to make me feel pretty full after which is totally a me thing, but they have so much on the menu to try that I'm sure I'll love whatever I get even more next time. Lastly, dessert. We got a regular tiramisu and it was absolutely amazing. They put a ton of cream which is exactly what I look for. It wasn't too espresso or cocoa strong and had a perfect ratio. The cream was so light and fluffy that we had to get another one to bring home and eat tomorrow night! I had seen a previous review on here about someone not liking the tiramisu here and it not meeting their expectations for a more upscale Italian place but I've been to quite a few authentic Italian gems and this one had tiramisu up there so I'd have to disagree and completely recommend! The service was impeccable. Every waiter was kind and prompt, constantly making sure we were taken care of and getting what we needed. The atmosphere was also a plus for us because we have a 1 year old baby and there was enough room where we weren't too cramped or crowded in, and it wasn't too loud or overstimulating. The place was very clean and taken care of as well as the bathrooms. All in all, I loved this place and I will be coming back. I would definitely recommend Monello for a nice little date night, and don't forget the tiramisu.

It was a Friday evening and every restaurant on the street was full and vibrant. You could Yelp these places all day long and it would be hard to choose. There's so many great restaurants around Little Italy. Mimmo's reached out and called us in. There were pretty white tablecloths, the hostess was smiling ready to answer any questions and of course, the menu looked wonderful. Voilà! We'd found our spot. Our waiter was so personable and had all the answers to our inquiries. He suggested items and even answered honestly when needed. I got a Le Pécora Nera Sangria (fizzy blackberry with lemon). Tasty, but too many blackberry seeds coming up the straw. I'd get another one next time. For the appetizers: RISOTTO ARANCINI (a MUST get) - these were absolutely delicious. Four good size bread crumbed fried balls of risotto sitting in the restaurant's own tomato gravy. HOMEMADE FOCACCIA WITH DIPPING OIL (yes, that's the official name) - this is a basket of super soft, warm focaccia bread for a great price. I would get it no matter what main course you're getting! It soaks up every sauce and it's just delicious. MAIN: BAKED LASAGNA (meat) - with the two appetizers this is the perfect size for both of us. No need to get one per person! It was absolutely wonderful. I would get it again. All in all, I'd definitely go back. The food was absolutely delicious and flavorful and the employees we came in contact with were great as well. We didn't want to sit at a table right next to the hundreds of people walking by, I don't like that, but there are plenty other options one row in or inside the restaurant. A solid recommendation on my part.

It's right in the heart of Little Italy on India Street in between all of the other wonderful Italian restaurants. When we walked up. They have patio seating as well as inside dining. We decided to do inside dining as it was starting to get chilly outside. We were immediately seated by a wonderful hostess, and that made a positive impression upon us. The whole hostess staff had great smiles on their faces and they were very welcoming. After about two minutes of sitting down, our server came to ask us if we needed time to look over the menu. We said yes but that we wanted a Foccacia Bread table starter. She smiled and immediately went to put the order in. A few few minutes later she came back and we ordered our drinks for dinner: Raspberry Italian Soda, Orange Crush with Fresh Cream on top, and a non-alcoholic spritz. After we got our drinks and sip on them, it took us a bit of time to decide what we wanted. We all know that the burger here is fantastic! However, this evening, we decided to try new things. We ordered: Pappardelle Bolognese with Added Meatballs, Pappardelle Bolognese as it is normally prepared, and a Caesar salad with shrimp added. Our food was out within about 10 to 15 minutes and everything was prepared perfectly. I have to say that we really enjoyed dining in this location and we may need to come back here more instead of traveling to the Del Mar location sometimes. Our server was super customer service oriented and we appreciated her. She went above and beyond to get the orange crush drink to be unique like an Italian soda for my daughter. We were super stuffed and could not do dessert, but we did promise to come back to enjoy the lava cake at a future time.
