We had a poor experience at Long Island Mike's Pizza and paid for 2 salads we had to throw away and a sinking pizza. We placed a big order. Two of the pizzas were decent, but the third was supposed to be double pepperoni. When it arrived, it looked like a sparse single layer of pepperoni, and the pepperoni had slid almost entirely onto one side of the pizza, leaving roughly half of it as plain cheese. I understand that the pizza itself wasn't necessarily inedible, but we specifically paid for double pepperoni, and half the pizza was essentially cheese when our family ordered pepperoni because we're all pepperoni lovers. The bigger issue was the salads. We paid roughly $30 for two salads, and when we opened them, we found multiple pieces of lettuce that were slimy and spoiling. This was especially upsetting because this was at the peak of the Clyclosporia outbreak, and there was absolutely no way we were comfortable eating salads containing visibly spoiled lettuce. We ended up totally trashing them and washing our hands after pulling both salads apart to find slimey lettuce in both bowls. We called the restaurant primarily about the salads, while also explaining what happened with the pizza. The person I spoke with, who I presumed was the owner, would not state his name after I asked twice and had a defensive attitude throughout the conversation. Rather than simply acknowledging the problem, he repeatedly said the pizza, was the amount of pepperoni was what it was supposed to be and that it had slid to one side because the oven was hot. Regardless of the reason, I don't think a customer should receive a pizza where most is plain cheese after specifically paying for double pepperoni. What made the situation worse is that, after the conversation, he ultimately said we would be reimbursed. We took him at his word. Last night, I finally checked with my husband, whose credit card was used for the order, and we were never reimbursed for the salads or the individual pizza we were not happy with. I am definitely not going back for the food or the customer service and feel the business took advantage of us. read more

I hadn't been here in about 2 years, and it's so sad to see how much of a disappointment this place was. I used to work closer so I would come in once a month or so. I went in last week and my first impression was "what happened??". It was near closing time, so maybe they were just waiting to clean? The area that used to have the soda fountain was messy and just had ONE napkins left. The staff was eager to go because I could see the deep inhales as I walked in (30 minutes before closing) and I heard one of them "growl" when the phone rang. I'm guessing they knew it would be a phone in order. The entire place just looked like it had seen much better days. The pizza was okay. Nothing I would make a trip back for. Pizza is my thing! First time visiting. It was quite busy on a weekday during the lunchtime hour. I chose the lunch special, it was okay. The house salad looked fresh until you looked under the greens. Some of the greens had gone bad, I would suggest changing the container to avoid letting greens go to waste. Pizza was okay, it didn't give NY style if I'm being honest. Quite basic. Ambiance was okay. Guy at the register seemed a little overwhelmed though. Since we live farther away from here, I've really missed this pizza. It still is the closest thing to actual NYC pizza. My mom, who was raised in Manhattan, will tell you that the difference is the NYC water. She could be right, but I can't tell. My favorite is the ham and pineapple. Wonderful pizza and service!!! Cane real quick on my lunch they were so fast. They took my pizza order as I stood in line by the time I got to the register it was hot and ready! The house pizza came with pepperoni,bacon,spinach and feta i had to try it. It was incredible all these flavors in one pizza was out of this world. The bacon was crispy the cheese was soft. The spinach didn't have an after taste. The crust was crispy and soft i was amazed. Now the pepperoni as simple as it is the flavor was so juicy. It was dripping in flavor i would put this spot up there with some of our amazing pizza in SD. It's for sure a sweet spot can't believe this gem has been down the street from me. Went here for national pizza week and was very disappointed. Pizza week is supposed to be 8 to 15 February and so we went here on a Friday the 13th. Not only were they unaware of the price special listed on the website (https://socalfoodandbeverage.org/pizza-week/) but they tried to gaslight us and told us that pizza week was over already. If you don't want to participate in national pizza week that's fine but it's terrible customer service for the manager to lie and try and do a bait and switch. A great for lunch time pizza. Is located in a business district area strip mall, quite simple I can say. The ambiance is just a pretty simple pizza place. I always order from here to-go pizza half and half. For me is easy, quick and tasty. The service is simple and only the essential. It doesn't mean is bad, it just means there is no additive in their service, just the right greeting and handling. The pizza is in a light side so, don't expect to be loaded. It has just the right amount of ingredients and one thing that I like the most is the drizzling with olive oil on the top. Somehow, it gives a great flavor to it. I have been coming to Mikes pizza since the opening of Kaiser Permanente. Yesterday I took a friend for the first time and the girl behind the counter was super rude! She was busy talking g to the pizza maker. When I asked her about my slices she said they're still cooking... it was over 10 minutes. Didn't even check on it. When she threw them on the counter they were burnt! I asked her to remake it and she was nasty. Never should a customer be treated like this by an employee. She showed her true colors as a customer sitting next to us watched the whole thing and told me to return the pizza. She took the slice out and didn't even acknowledge me. I have been here solo at least a handful of times and powered down some pizza slices and beer. Have even brought my kid here for slices too. And the last couple years now, my company has been ordering pizza for meeting a tight deadline or retirement parties. They are the best that I've tried so far in the area for a NY style pizza. Though they are only 1 of 2 NY nearby. Ultra thin crust, with a nice flavor and texture that is very similar to the top pizza dogs such as Bronx, Luigi's. I like my NY pizza for dang sure and this will facilitate you to eat more because of that thin crust. Now you really shouldn't eat more for this reason- less carbs, less filling. I might be able to put away one more slice because of this. Especially in a work setting, where fellow gluttony is on full display.. A friend at work swears by the meatballs here, still need to try these. Another coworker raves about the Stromboli which I didn't know they even have. Looking at the menu, this a meat bomb for sure. It would be nice if the pizza had a little more sauce since it's not very noticeable, although possibly the thinner crust cannot support this added weight. Nevertheless they put out some tasty pies that satisfy. There's another location in spring valley- very limited slice selection and no beer. What? No way! This place is seriously underrated. Now, there are a ton of pizza places, I get it. But if you haven't been here, give it a try. It's counter service whether you're dining in or ordering out. The cashiers have been helpful and food has come out timely. There's plenty of seating, booths and tables, and they have two TVs, playing whatever game is on at the time. Every time I've been in, there's been no problem dining inside. They have a mural of Long Island on the wall which I thought was cool. At the counter you'll see what they have available by the slice at the time. Pizza is thin, big, and foldable. I loved their buffalo chicken slices. Their hot wings are also underrated. Although I've had the utter pleasure of dining here for years upon years, I never once took the chance on their Calzone, how Happy I was with Bronx Pizza Calzone I never even bothered or saw the need to look elsewhere for my particular Calzone satisfaction. (at least 5 a year) What a MISTAKE!!! Their Calzone literally blows Bronx Pizza out-of-the-water, I'm from Brooklyn, (born & bred) so I'm more than familiar with Calzone, only this guy in all of San Diego raises to perfection. This establishment is certainly 100% on the mark. The crust: again, Pure Petrfectftion, The cheese quality is premium, and the portions generous. Texture, taste, and presentation are off the chart, and the marinara sauce they give (free) is truly incredible, and if you were to read my other 500+ reviews you'll see I never say the word "incredible", same with their meatballs, @ $4.00 a pop, Ouch, but worth it. read more

Excellent pizza. I've never been to NYC but I was told to go here because apparently this place holds up. I really love pizza that has the super flat crust and baked in cheese that you could easily fold in half. The service here is pretty standard, the prices are average, and while there are usually quite a bit of people in here, it's not overly crowded to where it's hard to find a seat. There are also a ton of different pizza slices every time I've gone here; I've never had to wait too long or have to settle for slices I didn't care for (although to be fair, everything I've had here has been good!). I also watched a documentary on YouTube where this place donated slices to people in need; the documentary didn't name Long Island Mike's but I recognized the restaurant right away. So major props to this place for thinking about our hardworking citizens who can't afford to eat or live here but yet wake up every morning to contribute to our city. The pizza is solid, definitely long island style. I just wish it had a bit more sauce as the pizza was on the drier side, but otherwise it was great. Their deal is pretty good too: 2 slices + soda for 7.75 or beer for 10.75. I took it to go, but it's a cute spot to stay and eat in too, especially if you're feeling a big nostalgic for Long Island. The worker/owner(?) was very sweet too! He noticed me taking a video and immediately asked if I'm from long island (I guess it's easy to spot for him at this point), which I am. The pizza here is great...prob the best New York style pizza joints in San Diego. I think it's better than the over rated BRONX PIZZA. My pizza came out hot and crispy. And the bottom of the pizza wasn't burnt or charred like some of these others places have. I would of gave 5 stars but I didnt feel like the customer service was good. The cashier or manager with the pretty blue eyes wasn't very attentive. When I placed my order I asked for water in a cup after I paid I sat down my food came out but my water didn't. When I asked for my water he pointed at a stack of cups by the register and continued on towards the kitchen. I'm like am I supposed to get a cup and get my own water?
