I think my favorite overall pizza or at least one of my favorites. I ordered a whole pizza online, pepperoni, mushrooms and guero peppers. It's the only place I know of that has guero peppers, they are mildly spicy maybe half as spicy as jalapeños they do add up as you eat it though. What I like most is the crust it's a bit more chewy than other NY style pizza. The pepperoni were flavorful and nicely charred. The guero peppers added a mild spice and good flavor. The pizza is somehow juicy and the tomato sauce has a nice intense, almost tomato paste flavor. Ordering online was easy and the pizza was ready in the estimated time. They are located to the right of Vons next to a sushi restaurant. They also have pizza by the slice if you walk in. But it's so good and I don't mind ordering a whole and reheating the next day. They do reheat well too the crust is both thin and crispy but still has that beautiful chew. read more

When I got there the line was out the door. I had to wait 45 minutes. It was worth the wait! I ordered a cheese, Margarita, and truffle. I would say the truffle was my favorite. This pizzeria makes some pretty good pizza. I picked up a couple of slices: the chicken parm and the deluxe white. Both slices had a good crust with a good crunch and a decent chew. I liked the deluxe white very much. The sausage was good and savory, just a little more of that fennel in it. It was a good slice. The chicken park was definitely unique and it was my first time having such a flavor profile. The chicken was tender and the slice was tasty. Had to come back to the pizza standard since they are the best New York style pizza we've had. We ordered the cheesy bread, a slice of the marguerita, testarossa and the white deluxe pizza along with the tierra-mi-su. My favorite had to be the marguerita or the white pizza. The white pizza had a hint of fresh lime with the sausage. It was so interesting and yummy! The marguerita was also light and easy to eat, it packed a lot of flavor even without any protein on it! There was also the perfect amount of ricotta on the white and testarossa slices, and the crusts were light and crispy. I could easily go through 4 slices myself. The cheesy bread was amazing this time. It came out hot and fresh, had the perfect amount of cheese and the crust was light, crunchy and super easy to eat. The crust was buttery too. Truly wanted to gatekeep this place but holy... I finally found a spot worth driving to for the solid slice of pizza. I am a NJ native and this pizza spot passes the test! So many delicious flavors in each slice and the service was extremely friendly and easy going. Prices were very reasonable. The vibe inside is so friendly, with walls covered by handmade pictures drawn by children. If they made it into breadsticks I would definitely buy them! They have several different types of pizzas with tasty toppings. From original cheese or pepperoni to truffle or margarita. The UnHawaiian is super good. They change up the options daily. You can get the pizza hot or take it home and throw it in the oven (or air fryer!). We tried the carnivore pizza and put only half ricotta on the pie, because again, autistic child, he's picky. The crust on this pizza is so amazing, it's chewy but soft, and a bit pillowy at some points but great crunch, it's like everything you want to feel and taste in a crust. Such a beautiful science I feel that's been achieved, I usually like my crust to be thin but I like how this is a Happy in between of thin but a touch of thickness. To close the meal, we just had to try the tiramisu because like who doesn't want to finish that goodness with something sweet! Everything was amazingly tasty and loaded with fresh ingredients and a lot of love. The crew working are all nice and friendly and told us a bit about how the owner got started, it's always nice hearing coworker's talk about what they love about where they work and why they feel it's one of the best spots for pizza. That in my book means a lot because it goes to show that they run a good shop and happy workers can help a place keep running the way it needs to. Such a wonderful place that I hope it keeps doing well and we all help get their name out and about in San Diego! My family and I will be back, y'all are doing an amazing job! The pizza here is amazing! The crust is super thin New York style pizza, so crispy that it almost shatters under your teeth. Had just a regular pepperoni slice for $4, but it was so flavorful and tasty. You can have your pick of sauce, they have a ranch and a habanero. I ordered the Carnivore Pizza and Standard Salad. The salad was a generous, robust portion that paired perfectly with the balsamic dressing. My only complaint is that the large salad comes with just one small dressing cup, so I had to pay extra for additional dressing. The Carnivore pizza had great flavor, but unfortunately, the crust was soggy and fell apart. As someone who believes NY-style pizza should be firm enough to hold up properly, I was disappointed when every slice fell apart as soon as I picked it up. All the toppings slid right off. This might work fine for people who eat pizza with a fork and knife, but that's not how I enjoy my pizza. The standard is set! This is a legit NY Style pizza shop pumping out pipping hot thin crust pizzas in Tierrasanta San Diego. Greeted upon entering the small establishment and ordered a slice of mushroom truffle ($4) pepperoni basil($4), and ended with the Gold Standard Cheese ($2). Worth every dollar. This establishment was the busiest in the strip mall including the small Vons. I ate my slices in shop and watched patrons come and go non stop for 15 minutes and the pizza baker kept making pie after pie the entire time. The dough was my jam. Chewy, crispy and without flop. I hate that I haven't found this place earlier. I really enjoyed my pie from here. I found it via Google when I searched "greasy pizza San Diego" and I'm so glad I did. It lived up to the 4.8 stars that Yelp has it rated. I went with the simple pepperoni and cheese pizza. And the crust wasn't rubbery, the pepperoni was juicy and it didn't need any additional cheese or peppers to make it flavorful. Simply delicious. The Pizza Standard is anything but standard. In fact, I believe they help create the standard of what New York style pizza (thin crust) should taste like. Of course, I Yelp stalked this joint and read a bunch of reviews beforehand. It was a longer drive than Hillcrest (to Bronx), but I wanted to try something new. This joint is in the Tierra Santa community of San Diego (15 freeway, Claremont Mesa Blvd head east). I made the trip solo, the wifey was too busy studying for finals. She would love the pizza here though. I thought about bringing something back, but she was eating before I left so decided not to. This joint is located in the Vons shopping center in between Vons and a laundry mat. There is plenty of parking which is a plus because Bronx is good, but the parking situation in Hillcrest can be a pain. The place has probably 4-5 tables and they have a display case for the slices you can order or you can order a whole pie from their menu. Each slice runs $3 - $4, soda is $2. I got 3 slices (Truffle Mushroom, Margherita, and Pepperoni) along with a soda. At the time, those were the only pies they had in the case aside from just cheese. They heated up my slices (which took maybe 5 minutes or so) threw them in a box, and called out when they were ready. You do have the option of having them heated or taking them as is to go. I really enjoyed each slice. The crust was appropriately crisp and then doughy after biting and chewing. The cheese perfectly melted, sauce pretty good, and ingredients were proportioned well. Good balance, nothing overwhelming anything else, just crust, sauce, cheese, ingredients all working in harmony. I just really loved the taste of everything... It was pretty delicious! They have Sriracha and other hot sauces you can use to kick up the heat! We love adding a little bit of Sriracha to our pizza when we eat at home... good job guys! I ate at the joint and I have to say that I love the atmosphere here. The crew here knows their regulars and even if they don't, they welcome and greet you warmly. They had a handful of people in and out while I was there picking up or ordering and some customers knew the crew by name. That says a lot. They had some rock / alternative rock playing here (Red Got Chili Peppers, 3 Doors Down, and others). I forget which song it was, but a song came on and the whole crew including the ones in back started singing to it all together... pretty cool! Danny (I think that's his name) up front making the pies, can sing. Lol Overall, I really enjoyed my experience here. I will definitely be back. Pepperoni, sausage, and dollops of ricotta all over, coupled with their homemade ranch it was 10/10. The fact that you can just have a squeeze bottle of ranch this big at your table for free is so nice considering most places charge a $1 per tiny cup of ranch. You can tell this place is very homey and family run and that's what i love about it. I gave it the benefit of the doubt and took a bite but all you could taste was bitter char. I also had the tiramisu and did not like it because the crust was soggy and runny/mushy. The texture kind of ruined the taste for me. I would say my experience was mixed, the biggest positives are i can tell they use quality and fresh ingredients. Lesson learned: If you want your choice of Brooklyn style slices, come way before an hour of closing. Pepperoni pizza: big kiddo inhaled this. Small kiddo thought the pepperoni was too spicy but loved the chew of the crust. Chicken Parmesan pizza: typically don't care for chicken Parmesan but it's one of the few slices they had left. Adults inhaled this, we love that it had ricotta on it. Slices are 3-4$ each for Costco sized slices. Water bottles costs extra. Can ask for a free cup of water. Saw a bug fly into the pizza slices case - still enjoyed my pizza. Nice to see a hygiene station (hand washing station) right where dining area is - makes it super easy to help kids wash hands.
