After going to la foret royal oak wifey wanted to see what the original location was like so…read moreinstead of getting baked goods there we traversed the 4min drive over to Jubilee location. We entered and joined the line, very earthy ambience with plenty of tables though very busy and full. Woodsy, and very clean. Sounds of all the patrons enjoying themselves with banter or working on their laptop whilst enjoying some beverage or food. I ordered the chocolate slice cake, wifey got a berry croissant and we got a tiramisu tart and tiramisu box to go. I ordered a house coffee just for something to drink with the cake and wifey also got a mocha. The cake was very good, not super sweet(for regular person) I'm diabetic so this was probably a bit much for me but I wanted to try. The butter cream in between each layer of chocolate sponge cake was smooth. The chocolate ganache was shiny and soft. I personally like more cake in general but this is a solid cake if you like butter cream and chocolate!. Wifeys croissant was full of cream on top and in the middle. Very soft and good for whipped cream lovers. The berries were large and sweet. Baked goods on terms from the ones we partook in were very good. Definitely understand why this is a popular place and always busy. Check it out!

La forêt is a popular classic cafe spot in Burnaby close to the Metrotown area. This location…read moreoffers free parking (although it fills up rather quickly). This cafe is a good spot to catch up with friends over coffee and pastries that is transit-friendly. This time I came for brunch with my fiancé and we shared the fried chicken platter, and ordered the Spanish latte and iced mocha as our drinks. The food and drinks were good but for the price point, I wouldn't come back for brunch. I feel like this cafe is definitely overhyped and pricey compared to other local spots.

We visited Coffee Loft for Nomsmag cherry blossom festival…read more What we got: Cherry Blossom Matcha with Cotton Candy Ceremonial-grade matcha with delicate cherry blossom sweetness, topped with a cloud of airy cotton candy that slowly melts into the drink. Ube Latte with Cold Foam Rich, nutty sweetness of purple yam blended with creamy espresso, finished with a silky layer of cold foam. Cherry blossom matcha with cotton candy has so instagram-worthy presentation! Not only it looks pretty, but alsoit tasted great! Strawberry puree and matcha paired so well. Ube latte with cold foam was good, too. Their espresso stood out and ube flavor came through later. I really liked their espresso which was strong and bold. Ube foam was very tasty. I really liked this item. Service was extremely good and friendly. I will revisit this place and would like to try different item next time

I'm conflicted with coffee loft. I love coffee. I love coffee shops. I love pastries. Coffee loft…read morehas all these, but it's just okay. To be clear, it's a great vibe inside. Plenty of seats for small groups and big groups. High ceilings make the location feel spacious. And it was busy with a lot of people. I think if I'm going to hang out with people, coffee loft would be a great spot. However, I don't think the coffee and pastries are particularly good. But of course, I'm a bit biased since these are the things I look for in coffee shops: the coffee. It's not bad. It's just okay. So in short, I think if you're looking for a place to hang, Coffee Loft is great! If you're looking for coffee or pastries, there are other places. Still worth visiting though!

Prior to moving to Vancouver, I lived in a suburb outside of Seattle, and there was the most…read moreincredible nursery/home goods/gift store nearby, in neighboring Woodinville (for those who know the geography), where we'd go frequently, as they had SO many gorgeous items (house items, pet items, gourmet foods, linens, women's fashion accessories, lotions and potions and soaps, plants of course, and a phenomenal cafe in the middle, like you were dining in a plush garden. This "store"/nursery was called Molbak's, and they had events at every holiday, free plays for the kids, free pumpkin painting, free Christmas shows, huge poinsettia events....the holidays were huge here, and even during non-holiday times, Molbak's was a gorgeous, special place. We brought out-of-towners here when they visited. There was always something for everyone here. High-end and unique items, beautiful stationery, holiday items that were NOT kitschy, plants and flowers and garden stuff.....and the café! SO good. There was something for everyone, and everyone loved it. This GardenWorks reminded me SO much of Molbak's. Just on a smaller scale. What a wonderful place, to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. You really feel like you're in a special, hideaway garden. There are cute cats roaming about (and I'm not even a "cat person"!), and twinkling lights, and beautiful house and garden/patio areas. I found artisan glass hanging balls. I found ceramic koi fish figurines. I found unique earrings and rings. There's an area with women's clothing and accessories, men's grooming supplies, gourmet foods, kitchen gadgets, patio decor and furniture, garden sculptures, SO many plants and flowers and succulents and bonsais and birdhouses, and gardening supplies and tools, and more. Much more. Since we visited right after Christmas, they were having a 60% off sale on holiday decorations. I snagged some amazing ornaments for a steal (and they were super nice, good quality, too). They had a huge selection of ornaments, lights, figurines and more. I just wish they had some boxed holiday cards. We had a light lunch here in the cafe, by the fireplace. SO nice. I had a fabulous BLT (the bacon was cooked perfectly and wonderfully smoky), and there were lots of decadent pastries to choose from, too. I like the outdoor patio area for dining, too (but it was closed off for the winter. I look forward to checking it out come spring). The staff at the cafe counter, and at the store check-out counter, and outside too (we chatted with a guy about some trees), all were SO friendly and knowledgeable. This is a super place and I can't wait to return.
