The line up to order and view of the production area

QUiCk Stop for TAKE Out of Gourmet Hong Kong Delicacies instead of ho hum Lofan BURGER & FRIES I was on my way to a downtown meeting and planned my route to stop by Sun Fresh Bakery . I needed a quick bite and didn't want the same OUT ole burger and fries . Sunfresh had the equivalent as I ordered a BBQ pork bun and a sesame ball with red bean . ... much healthier and more tasty. ... and best of all supporting a local business and not a multinational behemoth . Parking is mostly easy as there is meter and a few loading drop off zones . Service is top notch with the Cantonese Chutzpah lah .

Pork & chives bun - delicious!

So I saw this place featured on someone's instagram so ordered a whack of food on a Friday afternoon from UberEats. They close at 6pm, and I ordered around 3:30pm. Firstly, this place is ridiculously cheap, but they are not chintzy with the serving sizes nor the meat! Holy doodle, it is a carb and meat bonanza, lol! The pork rice noodle was free with a $30+ purchase and it was actually pretty tasty and very generous with the pork! The fish congee was packed with fish & had good flavour. No chIves or cilantro garnish was included, so ideally you have some in your fridge. But otherwise quite tasty. My favourite was the sticky rice wrap with lotus leaves (containing Chinese sausage). Wow, that was really delicious. The pork chives bun was HUGE, and also delicious. The bun was fluffy, light and tender - not remotely gummy nor dry, and with just a hint of sweetness. Very generous with the meat filling!! Really tasty. The spicy pickled mustard pork buns were good, but not "spicy" in the Scoville way. An interesting flavour that worked well with the fluffy bun. The dumplings: they were all quite massive, and generously filled. But they are "rustic" in style, so as long as you aren't expecting the delicate wrapper of the fancy dim sum spots, you should be fine. The Siu Mai was a bit overcooked, but the flavour was fine. And again, all of them had a ridiculous amount of tasty meat filling for the rock bottom prices! Not much in the way of vegetables, so just enjoy the carbs and protein!

This bakery has the hugest sized steamed buns in Vancouver. Their dough isn't my favourite but they are huge. They do their fried items really well. I would recommend they fried shrimp dumpling and deep fried dumpling

Certified Chinese place with giant pork buns (Bao zi) and egg tarts. Made me feel right at home and the prices were very cheap as well.

If you love dim sum and pastries taste like what your mom or grandma used to make, this is the place to go. You can even see the staff making tasty dumplings in the back. Food: 5/5 - fresh ingredients and tasty food that has customers lining out the door. My favourite is the salted deep fried dumpling and pan fried bun. Great value for your money and a fairly decent portion or size. Service: 5/5 great and friendly service. You need to pay cash if you buy something less than $5. Ambiance: 5/5 - clean and tidy place I can't wait to come back and try more tasty treats.

My favorite Asian bakery in all of Vancouver, the buns here are always fresh and big, it used to be even cheaper but now they have gone up in price

I had to pick up post game snacks, and thought buns/pastry/rice balls would be a great snack. Matcha Rice Balls with sweet bean was a hit, it was very heavy and so soft. Sesame Crips cookies/Chicken Cookies- These are savoury sweet cripsy/chewy cookies that were very popular in southern china. Sun Fresh version has a twist of intense ginger. If you are a ginger lover, this is for you. Best served toasted. I've tried a few things over the years, although nothing is extraordinary. Everything is fresh. There's a few steam cakes that are super traditional and aren't made in most Chinese bakeries nowadays. Many people were ordering steam dishes (rice rolls with meats etc...) Will try those next.

Steamed pork bun and pineapple bun

Came here to get my fix of bao. And I also wanted to try some dumplings. Be very careful of the dumplings you order. The steamed bao was humongous and filled with pork, deliciousness. We were excited about the pineapple bun, but it was empty inside which was pretty disappointing. We also ordered pork shumai, and it was delicious and filling; however, I also ordered dumplings and it was filled with mystery meat. I took one bite and I'm not exactly sure what I bit into but it was fishy and not good. Thankfully, there's plenty of homeless people around so I don't feel like I wasted the food. This is definitely authentic. Amazing bao, great Shumai, lots of goodies.

I was meeting a friend here yesterday who's visiting from California, and when deciding on a meeting place, we realized a bunch of the Gastown coffee roaster places were closed on Sunday, so I mentioned Breka , knowing it was opened 24/7. (LOVE this!). Plus, this site is close to Waterfront Station, and my friend had a busy day planned, taking the Seabus to N.Van and doing a lot of sightseeing. So this Breka was perfect. I was there early at 10 am-ish, and from the outset, I was impressed: exposed brick wall, long counter and display case, fully stocked with the most beautiful pastries and tarts and cakes, and lovely looking sandwiches, too....Just lovely. I ordered a tea from the guy taking the orders. At the check-out, the woman working the cashier was the most unfriendly, aloof person I have ever encountered at a Breka. She was downright dour. Never looked up, never smiled, said I owed X for the tea I ordered, gave me a receipt and said I was "number 3", no "thank you" (despite my saying thanks!), nothing. She looked really unhappy and bothered to be there. (I sat at a nearby table, waiting for my number to be called. I saw her interactions with all the people behind me - and there were quite a few, as it got suddenly busy in the cafe. She was cold and unfriendly to everyone in line as she rang them all up. These are mostly tourists! Why have a dour, borderline-hostile woman at the check-out counter of a busy cafe in a touristy part of our city? I just don't get it). Anyhow, I waited 10 minutes to hear my number called, but I never heard it. I walked up to the take-out area and there was my tea, on a receipt that said "number 3". Did they call out my number? I honestly don't know. I was seated at a table a few feet from the area and listening for my number and I didn't hear it called. I was not impressed with this set-up. Not at all. My friend arrived and got a chocolate concoction which looked amazing, and he loved it, so there's that. I still love Brekas but I probably won't return to this site. Between the cold experience at the cash and the prolonged waiting for my order (a cup of tea!), and not being sure if my order number was ever called, it just all left me with a bitter taste in my mouth.

It was not too sweet, and the combination of pandan and mung bean was fragrant and flavourful.
