This is an impressive breakfast spot that has all the treats you need to pack on the calories - and I mean that in the best way possible. Breakfast is the most importantly meal of the day and this place absolutely delivered. No disappointment detected. Service was snappy and efficient which I appreciated as I only had minutes before my guided tour of Van started...plus i did build up an appetite having walked 3 beautiful scenic miles to get there. The staff was genuinely pleasant and friendly - exactly what I've come to expect from Canadians and made for a very warm experience. Prices were fair and right on par with similar establishments, nothing outrageous. But what really topped this review to five stars was the butter, flaky fresh made croissant. During the Concord Pacific Dragon Boat Festival, this local bakery was a frequent destination for paddlers and guests alike. With the weekend's persistent rain and wind drenching and chilling everything and everyone, breaks in between were spent coming here for a quick bite or sip. In the mornings, there would be a long but quick-moving line of folks ordering toast and grabbing a coffee. Later on during lunch, items like pizzas and lemonade seemed popular. What caught my eye was their seasonal feature, a loaf of Fig + Anise bread. I also grabbed a blueberry bread cause it looked nice and oozy. The loaf turned out incredibly hearty and a delight to munch on. In addition to figs and anise, there were pieces of walnut, a fine inclusion. The blueberry bread, when warmed up, was an absolute pleasure and oozing with juicy blubes with a dusting of powdered sugar. Gone in 60 seconds, if that. Carb loading at its finest. read more

I came with my family and we ordered grape bread, a margarita pizza, tomato soup, and a matcha latte. Upon getting my matcha, i realized it was literal package mix. I've had many bad matchas before, but this was by far the worst one. I ordered an oat milk matcha latte with half sugar, and it tastes like pure sugar. They also messed up my order because upon tasting it was cow milk. Everything else was pretty good, tomato soup pretty average, but I couldn't even bring myself to finish that matcha. read more

I'm not much of a bread person, but the double-baked croissant I got was absolutely perfect. There are a few places around Olympic Village to get pastries from, but I would come back to Terra just for this croissant. Plus, I do like the seating area with high ceilings and lots of natural light. read more

I've always thought this cafe looked so welcoming, and I happened to be nearby at lunchtime today, so I decided to give it a try. Even though it was very busy, I was lucky to grab a table outside on the scenic patio, but the indoor seating also looks very nice. I had a roasted veggie and hummus sandwich, a peach rosemary tart, and an iced vanilla matcha latte. They do really good baking! The walnut bread that the sandwich was made on was very fresh, very tasty, and pretty unique, so much so that the bread was the highlight of the sandwich for me. But that's not to say the filling wasn't also delicious. The peach tart had a delicious buttery but light pastry crust, and the rosemary added some depth to the fruit but didn't overpower it. I liked that the peach filling wasn't overly sweetened. My matcha was great too, again not too sweet. My whole meal was $27, which I did think was overpriced. Although the quality was there, the portions were just not big enough for it to make sense to me to pay this much. I liked the portion sizes, I much prefer reasonable portions to jumbo! But I am not made of money and I don't want to regularly pay almost $30 for a light lunch at a cafe! I might go back on occasion to give some of the delicious-looking pastries a try, but I definitely won't be adding this to the regular rotation on account of the prices. read more

I tried out a few of their sandwiches and buns from here recently including the turkey sandwich, chicken sandwich, walnut loaf, Parmesan buns and blueberry bread. I really enjoyed the turkey sandwich as the bread used was a delicious cranberry loaf with slices of turkey and cheese. I find the sandwiches here a bit pricey but the overall taste is very good (especially when heated up!) The walnut loaf is a chewy sourdough with walnuts strewn throughout and it was a good loaf indeed! The texture is exactly what is expected and tasted like fresh baked bread. The Parmesan buns and blueberry bread were a little lacklustre for the prices. Overall, the food here is good but a little bit expensive. Took a walk from downtown, crossed over the Cambie Bridge, we decided to stop here for some lunch, they have other locations around town but this one is in Olympic Village/Square. It was a sunny day a lot of people out & about, people in bike wear, esp in spandex were all getting lunch too. Line was long but it gave us time to figure out what we wanted as everything looked so good. Right as you walk in, the bread rack was right there....so many selections! We decided to get the Smoked Turkey & Asiago on black olive bread was one of the items we got, it was really good. You can ask them to grill it up on the panini press for you too. Good amount of avocado inside the sandwich, turkey was good amount and especially the olive bread was very tasty! Great sandwich! We also tried one of their pizzas and got the Portobello Mushroom pizza. A good amount of mushrooms, tasty pesto with some sundried tomatoes with a good amount of goat cheese and mozz. Crisp pizza crust, thin to fold up to shove in your mouth. Place your order, walk down the line if you want other pastries, drinks etc, pay the staff, they give you a number, go find a table (inside or out), staff will bring out your food to you. Since it was a busy, we got lucky and found a small table next to lively couple arguing about paperwork. The pizza and sandwich took about 8 mins from when we sat so we were able to hear the all about the paperwork issue while we waited for our food. Prices are about what it is when you go to a cafe. Staff was friendly and looked hard to find you to deliver your food. They will also clear your table for you when you are done. Came here for Vancouver Croissant Crawl & tried their Pumpkin Pie Double Baked Croissant. The croissant was a great size however fell flat for me as I tasted more of an almond flavour rather than the pumpkin filling. I love it here! I used to work in Olympic Village and loved stopping by on my way to or from work. How can you simply walk past them when their doors are WIDE open, and you smell all the wonderful aromas of flesh and expertly baked bread? They have a huge & beautiful space with really high ceilings, tons of seating, large windows with prime views of Olympic Village Square, as well as a wide open display - so you can clearly see all of their baked goods & baking trays at once. Service was always very efficient and friendly, with multiple people ready & willing to assist you down the line. My absolute favourite pasty of theirs is the blueberry bread, which is nothing short of amazing! It's not too sweet, with tons of juicy blueberries and a satisfyingly crisp outer crust, it definitely makes my morning (or afternoon)! We found this wonderful cafe by chance. We just got off the ferry and was going to explore the Science World area but I was both hungry and thirsty. This cafe was very close to the pier so I decided to grab a sandwich there. Smart move! Good choice! I ordered the smoked turkey and asiago sandwich on black olive bread. This was an absolutely amazing sandwich, made with tasty turkey breast, fresh greens, organic tomatoes, asiago cheese and avocado. The black olive bread was absolutely YUMMY and it was grilled to perfection (see picture). Service was wonderful. Even if there's a line, the moment you walk in there they acknowledge you with a warm greeting. Every employee was friendly and helpful. It made us feel that we were really welcomed there. The entire cafe was clean and well maintained. Tables were clean and almost spotless. Conclusion: The next time I'm in the Vancouver area, I will definitely visit this cafe. Terra breads opened another new shop at Olympic Village. They have excellent variety of artisan type breads; most of fresh baked breads are truly delicious. Besides breads, there are cookies, muffins, cinnamon buns, scones, etc are good too! The service is fast and if there's a line-up it moves quite quickly. You can order to go or eat at the tables. There's a daily soup as well as delicious sandwiches, coffee, etc. I would highly recommend Terra breads for buying bread/bakery items but also for a casual place to have a basic lunch. read more

The service is terrible. We picked up our orders and the servants were rude and treated us in an unprofessional way. The servants thrown balls between themselves and did not look or care the customers in a proper way. I've often passed by this cute bakery/cafe spot but never ventured in. That is, until last week. And I was impressed by all that I saw, and smelled, and tasted! Bakeries are my weakness and this one can be deadly. :) The display case contained so many varieties of muffins and scones and croissants. All looked amazing. And nothing - I mean NOTHING - can beat the aroma of freshly-baked breads! If I could bottle up that scent, I would! There was a wall behind the counter of freshly baked loaves of bread, in many varieties. The prices looked comparable to those at say, Urban Fare or Safeway. There were samples out of bite-size pieces of almond croissants. Three words: to.die.for. (Yes, they were THAT good!). The place is obviously quite popular (with good reason!), and it was packed when we visited. I didn't get to try out any of the sandwiches they offer, but we'll be back again soon for lunch. read more

The last few times I've gone, it has been packed with line up outside the door. The staff here are friendly and the service is great. The bread here is fresh, I believe they bake all day. I've only bought a couple of times and the bread was fresh each time. I've gone to other bakery/bread and the bread at those places are sometimes not as fresh. They do sometimes run out of some items such as the roasted tomato & spinach focaccia, muffins, etc, depending on when you go. I was here around 1pm today ( March 28th ) and they had a few items left. They were baking some more but with the line up, those won't last long. The coffee here is good for a bakery. It's not too bitter and doesn't taste burnt like some other places. Getting a table here can be a little tough so if you have a group, stake out a table early. Or if it is a great day, get take out and sit on some of the benches nearby. It is in a convenient location, right by the seawall, so grab some food and drink and go for a walk. Or go for a quick jog/bike right and come for some food after. read more

Stopped by for lunch with my father before the busy lunch rush, we ordered the ham and gruyere sandwich and the turkey avocado panini both toasted and tomato soup. The sandwiches were perfect, the bread for the turkey sandwich had kalamata olives baked into the bread which made it so yummy! The ham sandwich was juicy but as a heads up the mustard is a bit Spicy. Tomato soup was clearly made fresh and was piping hot, it came with a small biscotti sized piece of bread as well. They use local Moja coffee (which is the best) so the Americano was nothing short of perfect. And the berry ice tea I had could of used a bit of sweetness but it was light and did the trick. The location itself had a ton of seating inside and out (put it this way there was 7 strollers in the location at once and not one was blocking my way. The coffee bar was clean even during the rush and was fully stocked with every type of milk/cream imaginable. The blueberry pastry looked amazing so I took one to go as well but forgot to take a picture because I ate it! You will love your lunch here! read more

Unfortunately I do not live or work anywhere near a Terra Breads (my neighbourhood really sucks for restaurants), so I have few opportunities to go. But on the rare occasion that I go, I always enjoy the food, and have a difficult time deciding what to get. (As someone who prefers savoury over sweet, there is so much to choose from!) Yesterday a friend and I were in the Olympic Village area, looking for a place to grab a bite to eat. Since the wait times were so long at the nearby pubs, we decided to go to Terra Breads. While I was happy with our decision, I had been hoping to have a glass of wine with my meal. So I was very pleasantly surprised to find out that they served wine (and beer)! Apparently, the Olympic Village Terra Breads location is the only one that is licensed to serve alcohol. Along with a couple of glasses of wine, my friend and I shared the cheese platter (which, at $9.99, is very reasonable). Very tasty! read more

The Olympic Village Terra Breads is notable for being licensed -- they have wine! They also bake 24-hours a day (but the place is not open 24 hours, however), so unlike some other cafes, what you see in the counter might actually still be fresh no matter what time you go, instead of end-of-the-day leftovers if you go late afternoon or evening. Their Hot Chocolate Festival 2016 entries are very strong for being interesting in taste and good price for portion. Drawbacks include being not very hot by the time it got to us; and the underlying hot chocolate seemed a bit thin and mediocre. Honey Buns ($4.95) Venezuelan dark chocolate, house-made chili honey, cinnamon, bourbon vanilla bean. Served with cinnamon sugar brioche. -We got a very friendly front counter person who also let me try a spoonful of their chili honey. The chili flavour is there and there's a good burn in the back of your throat but it starts slow. For several seconds all you get is the normal sweetness of the honey. -This hot chocolate definitely has some chili-heat to it, but not too much and no bitterness. Definitely worth a try if you can handle the spicy heat. Ask to try a bit of the honey first if you're not sure, although that will be spicier than when mixed in the hot chocolate. -Strange powdery residue in the cup,which was not present in the Chocolate Chums hot chocolate. Chocolate Chums ($4.95) cocoa barry milk chocolate, mascarpone cream. Served with Chocolate Arts Pecan Fruit Crisp [AND] Chocolate Bar. -You get a small bar of chocolate, and a thin slice of fruit crisp on which is a generous dollop of mascarpone. -Nice crunchy chocolate bar. Not that big, so "bar" might be kind of a misnomer. -Clear milk flavour, which sort of ruined this hot chocolate for me, but definitely depends on your personal taste. Other than that, there's a vanilla (?)-like sweetness to it. Certainly a tamer hot chocolate than honey buns. If you can only try one, try honey buns if you're adventurous. read more

I love Terra and frequent the Granville Island location usually. Stopped into this cafe location and found it packed on the inside. Opening day was hectic and jam packed full of people. There must be the local people living around there and the weekend people enjoying one of the last sunny and warm days of Sept. Even with the huge number of people there, the Terra Breads staff were up to the task, offering free treats to those waiting to order and were super courteous when taking our order. They had a full menu and are also licensed. Lastly, during opening day, coffee was on the house! This Terra Breads so far, has lived up to the standard that other Terra Bread locations have set, so no complaints yet! read more

I have been by this new Terra Breads in the Olympic Village three times now. The first time I just dropped by on the Grand Opening for a look at the space and to grab a couple of sample. The space it really nice and the baked good are delicious, if a little pricey. The whole front of the place opens up and has spectacular views of across False Creek to BC Place, the towers in the eastern part of Downtown and the mountains beyond. There is also a patio outside on the Manitoba street side. My other two visits where for coffee and a baked goodie. Actually I don't drink coffee so I had a soy chai latte the first time and a cup of English Breakfast the 2nd time. The soy chai latte was excellent. The tea was a bit bitter but this is likely because I let it steep too long. They serve the tea in a french press. The baked goods are mostly the same as what you will find at the other Terra Breads locations which are always good. I have not had a meal here yet, but I have had lunch at their lower Mount Pleasant location and it is always good. They serve dinner at this location, and are also licensed. We did have a small problem with my friends latte on my last visit. Somehow a bit of a thick thread or string ended up in her latte. The dealt with this very well though and re-made the latte and gave us a free pastry (an excellent blueberry tart). This is customer service done right. Overall this would make a great stop on your walk or bike ride along the seawall and until the Village Kitchen opens next year it is the only place for a meal on the seawall in Southeast False Creek. read more

This is like a canadian version of panera bread? I think.. with better bread but less friendly staff. So i guess you win and you lose! So for this place you have a huge collection of bread to choose from and they also have sandwiches and panini. The downside is that the sandwiches and paninis are already made.. they just simply toast it before serving, just like how startbucks does it. So you can't really ask for customization... (like no mayo) So that's the part where i like panera better. But this is a great place to just stop by and fill up my bread stocks! read more

When I first heard Terra Breads was opening in the Olympic Village with a crazy monopoly on coffee in the neighborhood I was ticked. No Blends? No Starbucks? What? Then I tried their coffee and sandwiches and was instantly convinced. Coffee drinks are expertly brewed and sandwiches masterfully crafted with tasty ingredients. I'm not a huge fan of breads so I haven't tried any but their limited selection of desserts are yummy. The atmosphere is almost unrivaled. Nestled in the Olympic Village the bright yellow umbrellas and the warm glow of the lights are a welcoming sight from afar on a rainy day. Once you are inside you are greeted b a wealth of golden earth tones. The architectural details are amazing and just envelopes you in a homey, comfy feeling. There are fresh Gerber daisies in the vases on each table. It's wonderful to sit down and just enjoy the view. The staff will even bring your food/drink order to you. If you are looking for a water-view coffee house with an artisan feel and the price is not too much of a concern then Terra Breads is definitely a place to try. read more
