Hate is a strong word but I hate these groomers. Don't bring your dog here. They don't respect your time and if you have a big dog they'll turn you away at the door after you already called to confirm availability for said big dog and arrived no more than 20 minutes after. The groomer literally walked out, looked at us and shook his head. Huge slap in the face. I've had so many issues they've had to rectify for me since I've gotten my dog, this is the last one. We have been taking our 2 year old Staffy mix for daycare once or twice a week and occasional grooming for about a year and a half. She loves going and she loves coming home. She comes home happy and tired. The staff all know her by name and greet her when she arrives. They are always friendly and professional with us and our fur baby. Baths and nail trimmings are all well done. Staff gave me a tour of the facilities before we took her there the first time and i was comfortable with them. They are definitely squeezed for space but the runs and play space seems adequate. Our furbaby seems to get plenty of exercise, and like i stated comes home tired but happy. read more

I had to find a last minute location to take my dog because of a work trip during masters week. This place was able to accommodate me last minute. It cost me $162 for 7 days. They even bathed my dog and put an Easter scarf on her! Note: they take cash or local check only. But you pay at pick up. Also they only want one person with their pet inside at a time so you have to wait outside of there is someone inside. read more

This is my go to place when on a time crunch and they handle it well. You can drop of your furry friend and rest assured they will be ready by 4pm. I love that they have a dedicated pick-up time between 4-6pm, but if they finish early you will receive a call from one of there energetic, human staff members. A great plus is that they use a Dremel on your pet's nails so no sharp scratching when they are glad to see you. Each pet has a there own index card with pertinent information (cut, likes, allergies, etc) so each groomer knows what you expect. The only issue I have is that they love your pet so much that I have to pry my pooches away...but that that is something I can live with! read more

I have zero clue as to what they bathed her with but it smelled like off brand hand soap. This place sucks it smells like pee the prices are cheap but it's because the service sucks. Lunas hair was uneven and when we brought her in to look at Luna, the woman in charged grabbed her trying to make her stand up when Luna was shaking scared. DO NOT GO HERE I IMMEDIATELY REGRETTED IT WHEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD KEEP HER FOR HOUR HOURS MINIMUM. I took my cat here to get groomed (bath and haircut) because upon researching for facilities that groom cats, Animal Boutique seems to be the only place in Augusta that actually grooms cats. This is my first time using this facility, but it is not my first time getting my cat groomed. I was surprised when I brought my cat in and the staff did not ask for any vaccination record. This worried me because with any other business I have used it is standard operating procedure to document that the animal is vaccinated (even if they won't come into physical contact with other animals during their visit). Another thing that shocked me was the price. On their website, it is said that price of grooming is determined on size, temperament, and physical condition of the pet. I was surprised when they couldn't give me a straight answer as to what I was being charged when I left my cat with them to be groomed. For my 14 pound cat (who was apparently one of the best behaved cats they've ever had), I ended up paying $80 for her to get a bath, nail trim, and a full lion's cut shave -- with a sanitary trim that seems it was not done properly/thoroughly. That is double of what I am used to paying from the grooming business back home, that gave a perfect cut every time. The girl working the counter when I dropped my cat off was nice. However, when I returned to pick my cat up another girl was working the counter and she was not exactly as pleasant. I know my cat is "a big girl". I don't need anyone to tell me that. If you're looking to get your cat groomed in Augusta, this business isn't the worst place you could take them. Just be ready to pay $80+ for a decent job. read more

We have been taking our dog (Moose) here since he was 3 or 4 months old. I really appreciated that I was able to take a tour of the daycare before we decided to take Moose there. The staff is always excellent and so friendly. Moose absolutely loves it & a year later he's still as excited when he's dropped off as he was the first day. Do NOT take your pets there if you love them at all! I took my Yorkie to get groomed and they scalped her when I asked for a medium length cut. She also had a cut on the inside of the fold if her leg that I had to clean when I got her home. When I asked for a refund, they refused. Terrible customer service and terrible grooming! I guess their policy does not support satisfaction guaranteed. On top of all that they don't require vaccination records. I find that a little disturbing since they board animals too. I took my cat in to have a flea bath, and have his nails groomed. When I got him back they all but removed his claws. Apparently, the groomer does not realize that animal claws have veins in them. She cut his claws all the way back to the pads when you are supposed to stop before the quick, or else they bleed. I asked for trimming, NOT for this. I have used this place to groom our family pet several times and they are great. Our pet always looks great after his groom and is excited when he arrives and excited when we pick him back up. Everyone that I have encountered there has always been polite and customer friendly as well as pet friendly. No appointments are required, but I always check just to be courteous. They do not except debit or credit cards. They do except checks and cash. The front office area has always been kept clean and odor free. The business is a little hard to spot until you get familiar with the location. There is a sign out front, but the traffic can be a little heavy at times causing you to drive past the location before you realize you have past it up. The business is located in a house that has been converted for commercial use. Parking is very limited and it can get crowded at times. Make sure you have your pet on a leash because the business is close to a busy road way, but hey shouldn't you have your pet on a leash anytime you leave your home. It just makes good sense. Oh one other thing they do that is really nice. They tie a little bandanna around your pets neck when you pick your pet up. That may not seem like a big thing, but the kids LOVE IT !! and it is pretty darn cute I have to admit. With all the big box pet store groomers around it's nice to support a local business and get that personal touch from people who you can tell love what they do and love animals. I have some genuinely mixed feelings about this place lately. We've been using them for almost 6 months for just strictly doggy daycare and never more than 4-5 hours at a time. For the first few months, my dog LOVED doggy daycare, couldn't wait to get behind that gate and would come back out tired and but wagging her tongue all the same, just deliriously happy. Then about 2 months ago, I came in early to pick her up and they had no idea which dog she was and when she was brought out, her collar wasn't with her. "Check by her crate" was what one of the older ladies said. Crate? She's clearly marked as a outdoor playtime dog and that's the understanding we've had with this daycare since February. "We sometimes crate the dogs if they're too active" Aren't they suppose to get running and playing time in? Isn't this what doggy daycare is for? She couldn't wait to get past their little doggy gate and charged up my chest the moment she was released that day. I didn't get her collar in time and I certainly had no opportunity to put a leash on her. Thankfully, no one opened the door behind us otherwise who knows if she could have run into the street in a frantic daze. I've been taking her to daycare less frequently and now take her with me on very short sporadic errands rather than leaving her in the hands of strangers and taking my time with appointments. The last time I left her with them about a week ago, she backed up and tried to burrow into the car seat, rather than get out. That was a huge red flag but I couldn't risk leaving her alone for 5 hours and I was leaving for some really time sensitive medical appointments. I rushed back as soon as I humanly possibly could and from her energy level, I could guess she had no time to play and she mentally was over that place for whatever reason. They contacted us prior to our arrival that the cat needed an update on a vaccination before they would take her. Thanks to them they noticed something that we had not and got the cat updated. After three separate grooming appointments for my two Yorkies, I have been more than pleased with the service here. I drove around the Augusta area for an entire day in and out of establishments in search of a new place after having multiple bad experiences at Animal House and Dogma. The service at Animal Boutique so far has been top notch, and if I get there early enough, both of my babies are done in 3 hours instead of the usual 6-7 hours at the aforementioned places. I only chose four stars so I have room to add the fifth in the future! I was a little worried because the reviews are old, but I imagine a lot of people don't leave Yelp reviews with the same diligence as I do :) Anyway, we are very happy here, my little ones don't mind being dropped off and they are happy and tail wagging when I pick them up! Not to mention, they are willing to cut my dogs to my specifications, meaning my boy has a gnarly mohawk and the girl has a fancy little top knot that doesn't get cut off because the groomer thought it would be better that way...errrrr! Took our Golden Retriever puppy (1 year) for his first grooming. They were overbooked to begin with and had to rush to get him ready before closing. His haircut was choppy and very amateurish and they didn't bother cutting the long hair on his ears - at all. This was the main reason for taking him to begin with! My wife felt rushed therefore she didn't notice before she left. Also, he smelled like dog instead of a clean fresh smell like he'd just been washed. Was very disappointed and I won't be going back. Recommended by a friend so I've been taking my two dogs (a 4year old and a 4 month old) here for about a month now for daycare and my dogs really seem to like going here. They are always worn out when i take them home they almost immediately pass out for the day. Which is awesome! I also like that i have an option to pay at the end of the week at one time since they only take cash and personal checks. My only negative is that I've asked once before for them to feed both of my dogs and included individual labeled bags in their daycare bag for them but they were both NOT fed and the food was still in the bag. I've also dropped them off once before and the young lady at the front desk was slightly rude and snappy when dropping my dogs off. They're also not very informative when i ask how they did for the day, its typically a one word answer like 'fine' or 'good' especially if its the same lady that i described above. But i mean everyone has their days so maybe she could've just had a rough morning or day and it was nothing too drastic or nasty because i definitely would've handled the issue right then and there. Plus the rest of the staff is actually extremely nice and my boys can't get enough. As soon as i pull into the yard they go crazy. I've never noticed anything negative about the boys when i get them back just excitement to see me. I've only every done the daycare here as it is literally 3 minutes from my house. Which is perfect when I'm on the way to work. I'm not sure about the grooming or boarding-- i have another place i typically go if needed. read more

Where do I begin....This was my first time and will be the last time my dog will get boarded there. When I had dropped my dog off, there was a sign on the door saying do not come in if there is a dog there already. Well, there wasn't a dog and so I walked in with my dog just to get sent out right away cause I guess there was a dog on its way to the owner, like I'm supposed to know that. Not the best first impression. Then a customer was picking her dog up and saw my dog friendly with the owner/ staff member (not sure the title) and says you should take her home which made me feel uncomfortable since it was my first time dropping my dog off. Nobody wants to hear that about their dog. Oh and they brought her dog out while mine was there so not sure how accurate their sign is. Anyways, I had dropped my dog off with a full 4.5lb poultry feast bag with my dogs name on it that you can purchase from PetSmart, which I also have a proof of purchase receipt the day of when I dropped my dog off, a small sandwich bag filled with woofgang bakery treats, and a new unopened pack of dentastix. Now, my dog was getting boarded from Friday to Monday so I'm sure whoever owns a dog knows how much their dog eats and drinks so you know about how much you are supposed to be given back of your dogs stuff. Well, I come to find out they are not as responsible as you think. First of all, your animals are left alone after 6pm till the next day in the am which makes me hesitate as a pet owner. What would happen if your dog gets scared and pass out or has a health issue, how would anyone know. That made me feel very uncomfortable when I was told that, but I still took a chance because their website states that they have 24/7 surveillance. Next, when my dog was picked up, nothing was given back with her...no food, no treats, and no dentastix. I had called them and when they would answer after a few attempts that is, I nicely asked what happened to her stuff that I gave them and no one seemed to know where her food went nor her treats. Mind you, my dog eats once a day sometimes twice so that full bag last me for about 2 weeks and the treats definitely should not all have been given to my dog cause it would make her sick and dentastix you are only allowed to give once a day. So, yes they as a boarding place should already know this. I kept on calling to the point where I had to show up there cause no one would answer the phone anymore and if they did, they would put me on hold and then never respond back. When I had showed up there I was informed my dog barely ate and was given only 1 dentastix which raises more questions as to where is the rest of her stuff then. No one in that place seemed to know, but then I was accused of putting her food in the ziplock bag not sure where this accusation came from, which I definitely did not so I said why don't you check your surveillance cameras and we will see whose lying. Come to find out, there are no surveillance cameras on the dogs or where the foods are stored so just in case you think there are surveillance cameras on your dogs, well there isn't so think twice before dropping your dog off even though they false advertise on their website that its 24/7 surveillance. Now, I am even more disappointed. My point of this wasn't to get money back or a new bag of dog food, I just wanted my stuff back and the fact no one knew what happened made me disappointed of how unorganized this place is. Also, it opened my eyes because I also found out the dogs do not have surveillance watching over them which was confirmed by the manager. I just don't know what to think anymore. The point of me taking my time to write this is that I just want to give anyone who is taking their dogs there a heads up or if you were even thinking about taking your dogs there as a first time customer to be aware of what may happen when you do go there. read more

i love this place. i have been taking my moorkie royce there about a year. he gets so excited when we pull up that i can hardly contain him. the ladies are so nice with him and he hates getting brushed and combed at home but the staff says hes a good dog with them. i would recommend this place to anyone who nees grooming and boarding. i have boarded royce there too. they take excellent care of him. animal boutique is the best. read more
