We lost our cat all of a sudden. He was our first pet and he was a very energetic cat. We were devastated to know the cause of his death. We called some animals hospitals around, they either didn't accept us or charged us at an unacceptable rate. In the end, we found the Animal Diagnostic Laboratory. Dr. Shahriar took us and he accepted our request to do the cremation after the necropsy. This made us feel kind of better after a mournful day. We brought the cat to the lab the next morning. We didn't put his body in the fridge overnight. If you are in such a situation, you need to put the body in the fridge. Dr. Shahriar promised to give us the result in 2-3 weeks and will keep us posted. We got the necropsy report in time. Dr. Shahriar performed pathology analysis on most of the body parts and found the potential cause of the cat's death. He pointed out a deadly disease that we had seen our cat had the symptoms before. We agreed it is very likely this is the cause. We feel very sorry to the cat that we neglected his symptoms all the time. In the meanwhile, we were very impressed that Dr. Shahriar can find this disease with limited context. Dr. Shahriar is very professional and warm-hearted. We are very grateful to choose his service. Absolutely made a grief stricken pet parent worse I called about a necropsy of my pet (it's my first time trying to do a necropsy)who died suddenly, he was nice at first, told me the price how long it takes, then at the second call, he started getting irritated then rude, said he's not going round and round with me, subsequently when I asked about if pet remains will be returned to me for cremate/burial/preservation, how does it work, or do they require it have to be cremated only (is it ONLY their provider that is allowed and is that the only option ?) what are the logistics, do I arrange transport or they deal with the provider themselves , he started getting upset saying we are not on the same page, said he's not making money from me(??) ,he told me to find another provider, go out of state even for the necropsy, go to UC Davis which I can't understand how I have offended him or why he kept telling me off, he assumed I'm trying to bury pet in backyard, but that's not what I meant, he said I'm being illegal (??) I think he misunderstood me, maybe it's language ?? the law is you can dispose less than 15lb animal in the sanitation system I.e. trash cans ?? , not sure, something like that, he won't listen as to what options I found for my pet to be buried or preserved in the pet cemetery, or preservation provider, he said I have to prove to him a real life client of this preservation business who did do preservation after necropsy - that's unreasonable - but pet died at home after vet couldn't do anything for it called it fatal yet he thought vet gave it back to me. Now he completely ignores my texts and calls after having me send him info about burial / preservation info of funeral providers as he requested , HE COMPLETELY WASTED MY TIME and I still have nowhere to go for necropsy after following all his instructions !! Please stop treating clients as criminals if you can get so upset answering my dumb questions don't run a business, I'm just trying to find cause of death of my pet it's the necropsy business that's what you do yes ?? what am I doing wrong?? and why did handling remains cremate/ burial or preservation of MY PET at professional providers bother YOU when it's my pet not yours. You don't even know me to know if I can handle how it looks after necropsy to bury / preserve it. What's the relevance please ? I wasted my time in all this grief gave you info of my providers to handle pet remains ONLY TO BE IGNORED ultimately. You don't even know me- I'm not a spy I'm no criminal, I have nothing to do with whatever you have been through in the past, I'm just a pet owner and I'm already grieving. You made it worse. Speaking of law, pets are unfortunately regarded under the law as personal property like a table or chair so it's property law but why lecture your customer about laws, you are not a lawyer even if you are I didn't call you for legal advise, than answer simple logistic business questions. FANTASTIC SERVICE! My dog unexpectedly passed away about a month ago. My family and I were devastated and wanted to know her cause of death, since she had recently come home from the vet and was on medications. My dog had passed away in the late evening and most places were closed. After doing research online the following morning, I found Animal Diagnostic Laboratory and gave Dr. Shahriar a call. He was very empathetic to our situation and answered all of the questions I had and provided instructions for properly caring for her body while we figured out when we could turn her body over to him. If I could give it more stars I would. I have never talked to someone that cared so much about animals. I lost my dog unexpectedly and I was calling everywhere to get a necropsy for him. When I found this place it was an immediate yes to get it done here. They gave me a rate that was not expensive at all and before they did the necropsy, they explained the whole process and how long it would take. My dog's body had to be transported from the cremation place to Lab for pets. I told Lab for Pets how much the other place was charging (over $150) and they said absolutely no way, and they covered the transportation fee. After the necropsy, the report was emailed and I was given a call. The Dr. explained the report very thoroughly so it was easy to understand. In the end, he told me that he would not have charged me if they did not find anything wrong. This place is not about money it is all about the pets. Dr. Shahriar is a highly qualified DVM, and gave us closure to the reason for our dogs death. So happy I found this laboratory. After my dog passed away unexpectedly, I just wanted answers. The vet hospital said it would be $3000 to have a necropsy done. I jumped on Yelp on a whim and this was the first one that came up and was only a short drive from the vet. The final necropsy with all the answers wasn't even a 1/3 of what the vet had originally quoted and at least I had some better closure for what happened to my dog. Dr. Shahriar is amazing ... he listened to what happened, and I felt he really did his best to not only find answers but also ensure my dogs remains were handled with care and sent back as soon as possible. Lab For Pets did a thorough professional necropsy on my deceased cat. We could not understand why he died suddenly. The veterinarian did not know as his last physical exam four years ago was good. The veterinarian told me that he could have a necropsy performed with a lab for $2000. I did a search online, Lab For Pets charged me less than half of that including personal cremation of my cat and delivery of his ashes. My experience with Lab For Pets was wonderful! That sounds strange since I was in shock and devastated by the sudden and unexpected death of my dog, Bob. We were frantic in our efforts to find someone who would perform an autopsy on our dear boy. He passed away in the night and had seemed fine the day before. We were concerned that he may have been poisoned and since we have two other dogs it was imperative that we discover what caused his death. We called our vet and several other vets as well as the poison hotline. Other than going all the way to UC Davis, we could not find anyone who could or would help us. Finally, a random vet that we called recommended LAB FOR PETS. Dr. Shahriar came to our rescue! He understood the urgency and he told us we could bring Bob right over to his office. He took the time to explain the process and the costs involved as well as the expected time line in terms of results. The charges were reasonable and we received the preliminary findings in two or three days. Bob was not poisoned and he passed away from natural causes. Dr. Shahriar was very knowledgeable, polite and professional, but what stands out the most is the kindness and sensitivity he demonstrated when explaining his findings.
