Took him to my vet the next day and paid a very small fraction of the price for virtually the same proposed work, $300. Long story short, Put your foot down, do what your intuition tells you is best. I walked out of this place only paying $350, and my cat is FINE.

After we lost my girl, I never got a call or card with condolences, I guess they are so used to letting pets die that they do not have time to be compassionate towards the owners. THAT would be too much to ask of them. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

My (stray) cat had strong symptoms of something systemic going on. Even after I asked twice why we weren't giving antibiotics, I was sent home with a tranquilizer and a pain medication that makes a cat drowsy. My cat got worse and the following day. I called the doctor (Dr. Michael Beckham) twice and he encouraged to use the medication which I had initially not given him. I went back Sunday morning because my cat was almost comatose. I saw that his leg had swollen. Dr. Dean was more engaged. Questions were asked about leukemia and FIV and rabies vaccinations. My cat had an abscess on the leg. Rabies was on the table since I didn't know his vaccination status. I was told to stop using the tranquilizer (gabapentin) and the pain meds as they were not allowing to see his development. He received an antibiotic injection, and I took antibiotics home to treat him for 10 days. He is better this morning, Monday. I am angry with myself that I didn't insist on the antibiotics Friday night. I knew enough and had this gut feeling. Yes, the bloodwork was not totally definitive, but in doubt it's best to just go for it. I questioned the initial medication plan but no one could really explain to me the reasons for that decision. My cat was not in pain. He had symptoms of his body failing to function.

She never displayed any symptoms of sickness and was the hardest decision to make to let her go peacefully. The doctor and staff made this awful moment as kind and respectful as possible. The doctor was very informative and understanding. The staff was polite and empathetic. They allowed us time to process, and make a decision. All of our questions were answered and options were made available that changed the rest of our lives forever. After some time we chose to have Tootie put to sleep instead of bringing her back home. I cried on the floor next to her when she drifted off to sleep. The painful feeling that she was gone was so strong i didn't realize the doctor was on the floor next to me too. She gave me unfathomable strength by just being next to me. After a week or so we were called saying Tootie was ready to come home. We were gifted with beautiful keepsakes and today she sits on the mantle in the living room. Thank you everyone here for making a tragedy into something special and very beautiful. Thank you

While trying to find the facility for drop off I was a little lost as you can't see the place from the road only a white sign. The drive up the dirty road was a little surprising to me as they don't have many pictures. I knew I had no other options on sure short notice. Walking in, the smell was alarming and the cats roaming around didn't give me the best feeling. They employees where nice and pleasant during check in. I was told over the phone that boarding was $18/a day and his bath would be $15. During pick up I was told the price was $90 which I'm not sure how they came up with those numbers if I dropped off Friday and picked up Monday (2 full days, 2 half days - $18/day and 1 bath $15) either way I didn't question it as I planned on tipping for the service. I didn't like that he was still wet when I picked him up and in the car he slept the entire time which is so not normal for a Shiba. However, They seem to be family owned which is great and I always try to suppose local businesses! I would use them again if I need boarding.

I have been bringing my babies to Klondike's for well over 3 years. Desiree the owner, is an incredible animal loving people person and I adore her. I had the pleasure of meeting Desi through a referral. My neighbor used Klondike's for her pitty mix and after a personal series of unfortunate events, I required boarding for my 2 dogs every weekend for several months. I have a Great Pyrenees and a Poodle mix and they have been absolutely spoiled by Desiree. My boys have loved coming to the kennel every single visit since. They know they are coming about 10 minutes away and you can tell they are stoked, My pyrenees has even jumped out my car window because I was taking to long to open the car door, all to get to Desiree quicker! The Kennel is on personal private property and Desiree lives a short walk away, which makes me confident my babies will be well taken care of. Desiree also handles all of my grooming needs. My boys had a photo shoot coming up and Desiree was able to squeeze them in for their regular doggy doo's. My boy's get so many compliemnts on how good they look. Desiree makes sure my Great Pyrenees stays free of mats and tangles in his abundence of fur. Thank you for your wonderful services Desi, you are truly one of a kind.

They were ready for us when we arrived an hour later (drive took 1hr) and put us straight into an exam room. The vet tech's were incredible, as was the front staff and Dr. Gregory (?). They did an initial assessment, asked questions and gave us a best/worst case scenarios. They took Gus back twice - once for vitals and a second time for bloodwork. Luckily our dog is pretty agile so he came away with scrapes and bruises but it could have been much worse. You could tell they were exhausted as they had 2 very urgent cases, yet still cycled us into the rounds. I would recommend this facility and the staff. Yes, we waited. Our "emergency" was not the highest priority and we understood that from the onset. They did the best they could considering the resources and more urgent matters they had. We would return and we would recommend.

Fast forward to this week, we received Chloe's remains and we even got a card from this location that was signed by the staff and had a paw print on a card from our Chloe. I know they did what they could for my dog, and I don't doubt that they meant well. That said, I need to share my experience so others can make fully informed decisions. My 10-year-old dog was in respiratory distress, with multiple serious health issues including a heart murmur, congestive heart failure, and a collapsed trachea. She was placed in oxygen and given medications. I was told she had stabilized enough to go home after a 12-hour stay. They called and said, "you can come get your baby girl she's good to go home." As you can imagine we were so excited!! She pulled through and we were going to get more time with her. We showed up to get her and when they brought her to us she was panting the same way she was when I brought her in. I asked if they were sure she was ok to go home, and they said yes that's it's just anxiety and she's been doing great. So, they gave her a couple of anxiety pills and after a $1900 bill sent us on our way. But the moment we got home, it was clear she was not okay. She was panting, disoriented, lifting her head to breathe, and unable to settle. She wouldn't even look at me -- completely unlike her. Despite being told she had been off oxygen and doing fine in a regular room, I now believe she was never truly stable. She passed away at 4:30 a.m. just hours after coming home. I'm grateful to have been with her at the end -- but it was traumatic, and I can't help but feel she should have never been discharged in that condition. I wish I'd been given a clearer, more honest picture of her state. If I had known how close she was to the end, I would have chosen to let her go peacefully at the hospital instead of watching her struggle all night. I'm sharing this with love, not anger. But I do hope the hospital reflects on how fragile animals like her are, and how important transparency is -- especially when time is short.

For 3+ days, 2x per day visit seems more appropriate so the kids do not get too lonely (they love people). A few trips were unplanned so my requests were last minute and Keri (owner) was always very accommodating. It's hard to take trips with fur kids, but it makes me feel so much better knowing they are looking after them. I love the emails describing the visit (and sometimes photos too!). The kids always seem calm, happy, and well-fed when I return. I just received an email that Paws is expanding and now offering overnights - which I may take advantage of in the future!
