Ben our cat was not feeling good since Thursday. We attempted to get him into his vet, but they were closed Friday. We took Ben to this ER on Sunday. We were promptly greeted by a kind and professional young woman. She gathered all info needed and had us fill out info (address, pets info as well). During this time two urgent situations occurred. Two different family's with dogs that were needing treatment asap. We had no problem waiting. It's an ER and sometimes these things happen. Please note Ben, was taken back fairly quickly. Going into this we thought he may have a UTI, but we were not entirely sure. We knew Ben's actions were not the norm. We had a conversation with the Doctor and she gave suggestions with options. We went ahead and got him throughly checked over (blood work and exrays ect.). Results - UTI, meds, and food diet change prescription. I thank Dr.Cassandra Van Nieuwal for saving our boys life. She was kind and caring. Sunday was a very busy day in that ER. I prayed for everyone's animals as well as our boy. I am thankful for this ER and their professionalism. At a different veterinary - last year our boy Levi was not diagnosed properly (nor attempted to be diagnosed) and in a matter of days he deteriorated. We brought him to this ER. They did what they could. But, unfortunately, due to the lack of diagnosis from a loval vetinary office and staff on Nova, our boy Levi didn't stand a chance. Subsequently, I am thankfully that Levi is no longer in pain and we got to say our goodbyes (very heartbreaking). Lastly, I am thankful for the Animal Hospital ER because without it our boy Ben might not have made it. God Bless you and thank you.

I don't think I will ever have enough words to express how grateful I am to this veterinary team…read more They saved my baby Ónyx's life. Ónyx was only 9 weeks old when he accidentally swallowed a piece of a treat that became lodged in his airway. We brought him in because his breathing sounded strange, but we could have never imagined how quickly everything would change. The director immediately performed X-rays, and within less than 30 minutes, Ónyx went into respiratory shock. From that moment, I watched the entire team move with an urgency, coordination, and dedication that I will never forget. Everyone ran to help my puppy. Dr. Timberlake had to perform an emergency endoscopy to remove the foreign object from his airway a procedure that carried significant risk for such a tiny, 9-week-old puppy. It was one of the most terrifying moments of my life. Dr. Timberlake successfully removed the object and saved Ónyx's life. Afterward, he remained under constant observation and oxygen support for hours. Dr. Peña was absolutely wonderful as well, and every single assistant treated Ónyx with so much love, gentleness, and respect. They did not leave him alone for even one second. There was always someone watching him, caring for him, and making sure he was safe. As a pet mom standing there terrified and feeling completely helpless, seeing the way this team cared for my baby meant more than I can explain. They didn't treat Ónyx like "just another patient." They treated him like his life mattered. They treated him like the deeply loved baby that he is to us. Because of their knowledge, their quick response, their teamwork, and their dedication, I have my baby home with me today. I can watch him eat, sleep, play, and be his happy little self again. There is no review and no amount of stars that could ever truly represent the gratitude I feel. Dr. Timberlake, Dr. Peña, and the entire team: thank you from the deepest part of my heart. Thank you for running for my puppy. Thank you for not giving up on him. Thank you for caring for him every single second. Thank you for saving Ónyx. I will be eternally grateful to all of you. Because of you, I still have my baby with me.

Our sweet Charlie ended up at the emergency vet with a bladder obstruction that required surgery…read more What started as straining to pee turned into a whirlwind of ER visits, anesthesia, and a major procedure to remove stones from his bladder. I don't usually share personal stuff like this, but I'm making this post for one reason only. If you ever have an emergency with your pet, go to VEG ER for Pets. When we were trying to find a vet to perform the surgery, our VEG doctor sat there and personally called vet after vet to get someone to fit us in. And when we finally found the right place, she stayed on the phone with the surgeon and fully briefed him on Charlie's condition so there was not a single gap in his care. They kept us informed, comforted, and confident that our boy was in the best hands. He made it through surgery like a champ and finally came home but after we got him settled, his temperature dropped and we had to rush him back to VEG. They immediately took him in, warmed him, ran an ultrasound to make sure nothing was wrong, monitored him until he was stable... and didn't charge us a dime. Because of how long this whole process was, and having to go back again, we saw three different doctors at VEG, and every single one of them treated Charlie (and us) with the exact same level of urgency, compassion, and kindness. That consistency in care meant everything to us. Charlie is home now, snuggled in blankets, eating, and slowly getting stronger! If you ever face an emergency with your fur baby, VEG is the place to go. We are beyond grateful and will recommend them to anyone and everyone.

I also witnessed the staff have incredible compassion and practice ethically. An elderly woman came in with her cat, concerned about the cats eyes. After a thorough exam, she was told her cat was perfectly healthy and there was nothing to be concerned with. They didn't charge her for the exam, which I could tell was a big stress relief for her. In total I spent 3 hours here and my cat and I received exceptional care. I also witnessed the true hero's that wok here in their element. I highly recommend this place if you are ever in need of emergency vet care. 11/10!

Dr. Vukich was THE MAN. He listened to us when we voiced our concerns, he shared his thoughts and suggested course of action, and we had shared decision making. Jessica, one of the vet techs, was super sweet as well. Very understanding of our concerns and made sure we knew we could call at anytime for updates. The people at the front desk and others we interacted with were at times dismissive of our concerns, but thank goodness Dr. Vukich listened to our concerns and saved our kitty!

They have taken such wonderful care of Abby, especially after her major foot surgery. From the moment we walked in, the staff was compassionate, patient, and truly committed to helping her heal. They explained every step of her treatment clearly, kept us informed, and treated Abby like she was their own. Her recovery has been smoother and less stressful because of the attention and expertise they provided. It's rare to find a veterinary team that combines skill with such genuine kindness, but this clinic absolutely does. I'm incredibly grateful for everything they've done for Abby. If you're looking for a place that will go above and beyond for your pet during an emergency or complex surgery, I highly recommend First Coast Veterinary!

I had originally brought my boy to a different emergency vet and they did everything wrong, but I didn't know it until my pup was getting worse (much worse) within a couple days. I brought him to Dr. Hassan and he very quickly made a turn for the better. And when that same dog had a stroke a year ago, Doc did everything right. Dr. Hassan gave me 2.5 more active, healthy years with my pup than I otherwise would have had. How do I quantify what that means to me? I can't. The entire staff is incredible. They truly do care. My dog died in July. He was up at my parents' house in Georgia for a visit (their dog and mine were besties). He was fine when I left, but a few days later he was not at all fine. I called Dr. Hassan and even though I couldn't bring Floyd () in since he was out of state, after telling them what was going on with him, Dr. prescribed meds for him as a last-ditch effort. They filled them on site, I picked them up, and made a mad dash to get to him. It was too late by the time I got to him because I couldn't get the meds in him and he died just a few hours later (so the meds would not have helped at that point anyway), but just the fact that they gave me the opportunity to try means the world to me.
