It saddens me to write this review but I feel I must for others. I've taken my 8 lb biewer terrier here every 4-6 weeks for 9 years. She is incredibly docile and timid. After picking her up last week after a standard groom, I noticed she was acting odd and showing discomfort. As the hours progressed, excessive gagging and coughing occurred and she was noticeably more uncomfortable. I took her to the emergency vet over the weekend and explained the symptoms plus groomer situation. Upon assessment, they identified a significant and large bruise across her chest/arm plus what they indicated was likely trauma to her trachea. Bloodwork confirmed muscle trauma. Their indication was the same as my instincts - something bad happened at the groomer. As we evaluated it, it was hard to understand how her injuries would align with an accident or an unknown incident. The groomer did not share that anything went awry during the visit and acted like all was okay at pickup. I will not be taking her back. read more

I had a very disappointing experience at Animal House and will not be returning. When I first started bringing my two small dogs, my bill was typically under $100 for both of them, which included a bath and haircut. Over time, the prices kept increasing without any clear explanation. At one point they began adding a $15 "dematting" fee, even when my dogs were regularly groomed. Recently the cost climbed to $130-$140, so I started asking for a breakdown of the charges. Unfortunately, the staff seemed irritated whenever I asked basic questions about pricing. There is no posted price list and no transparency about how they calculate the final bill. During my most recent visit, I had already combed my dogs before arriving. The employee at the front desk used a small comb on my dog's legs in a way that would naturally create tangles and then claimed there would be a dematting charge. I told him if they planned to charge that fee, I would rather take my dogs somewhere else. He took the dogs to the back and returned saying there would be no dematting charge, but added that if the dogs cried or had to be corrected during grooming there could be additional fees. I had never been told about that policy before. When I came back to pick them up, I was told the total was $75 per dog. When I asked for a breakdown of what the $75 included, the employee became extremely hostile and began yelling at the top of his lungs at me simply for asking about the charges. Even after asking multiple times, he could not provide any clear explanation of the pricing. Another concern I've had over time is that on more than one occasion my dogs came home with small cuts or what appeared to be bruising. I did not notice these issues until after we left. I cannot say exactly how it happened, but it raises concerns about whether the dogs are being properly supervised or handled during grooming. As a customer, I believe it is reasonable to ask for a breakdown of services being charged. Instead, I was met with hostility and extremely unprofessional behavior. Because of the lack of transparency in pricing, the concerns about how my dogs were handled, and the way I was treated when asking simple questions, I will not be returning and would caution others to be aware before bringing their pets here. read more

Took our little pup to get groomed. Justin did a great job and is very responsive. I like the fact the dogs are not caged and get to socialize with the others. Justin is very accommodating as well and is good to deal with. I would highly recommend. read more

!!!! ANIMAL HOUSE BUCKHEAD WAS MORE LIKE "ANIMAL HELL" FOR US !!!! THEY SENT MY DOG HOME WITH A BLEEDING, OOZING HOLE IN HER HEAD, WERE DISHONEST AND TRIED TO COVER IT UP !!!! **If you're considering this facility I'd encourage you to read this. I believe it illustrates a tremendous lack of good judgement, integrity and compassion.** GIVING THEM ONE STAR IS ONE STAR TOO MANY, BUT NO STARS ISN'T AN OPTION. I brought my dog to Animal House Buckhead to be groomed on May 24, 2023. It was her first time there. My dog has no aggression, she is a calm, sweet and well behaved/trained senior rescue dog who I've had since she was a puppy. I was told she was excellent during the grooming, which is typical. They also complimented her on having a beautiful coat with no mats. Upon pickup Justin told me they didn't clip her as short as I asked and said they would next time. She also was an express groom and they kept her for over 3+ hours. She usually takes 60-90 minutes. The dots will start to connect shortly. After my dog's grooming was complete and we were nearly home I put my hand on her head to pet her and my hand was all wet, her hair was saturated in blood and she was oozing from her head. I immediately turned around and rushed to my vet's office. My vet is two minutes from the groomer's, I could've likely been to the vet 30 minutes sooner had I been told my dog had an open wound. On the way to the vet I called the groomer and asked what happened. Justin wouldn't get on the phone but relayed through his brother, Jason, that he told me about the wound, which is 100% FALSE. I would've gone directly to the vet had I known. Did they think I wouldn't notice my dog bleeding/oozing from her head?? My hubby was traveling and when he found out about this he was furious. He called the groomer and said six words, "I'm trying to control my fury," at which time they readily admitted that I wasn't told what happened, that they should've told me and that they'd cover vet bills. The vet bill was $800+ and I already paid it. The groomers paid the vet directly who then reimbursed us. The groomers hurriedly tried to do the right thing but ONLY after they lied, gave zero disclosure about what happened and made choices to deny my dog immediate and proper wound care FOR HOURS. They didn't prioritize my dog's health the same way they scurried to preserve the health of their jobs/business. At least that's my observation. We still don't have an understanding of what actually happened, why I wasn't notified of what happened stat (or at all, for that matter) and why they continued grooming a dog with an open wound which was a Petri dish for bacteria. They later said they nicked a cyst she had, which I made them aware of, but her cyst is fine, completely intact. This wound has nothing to do with her cyst and is approximately 2" from the cyst. To think we wouldn't notice the wound is asinine. To not bring it to our attention so we could immediately get our dog treatment is unconscionable. I can't even fathom how anyone could send a dog home with a bleeding/oozing open wound without saying a SINGLE WORD about it. They didn't tell me when it happened. They didn't tell me when they called and said she was ready to be picked up. They didn't tell me when I picked her up. NOT A SINGLE WORD ABOUT IT WAS SAID. **Daycare dogs are mixed in the room with dogs being groomed, getting up on tables. It's chaotic. It was suggested this could be a bite wound. Nearly two weeks have passed, I have yet to hear from the owner,, "Ms. Kim." I'm sharing this because, in the same way that we expect our healthcare providers to do no harm to us and for us to be better when we leave than when we got there, we should have the same expectations of our pet practitioners. We all make mistakes but how we respond to the mistakes is an indication of our integrity and priorities. They made a mistake by injuring my dog and then compounded it by not telling us. Unless you're okay with this treatment for your dog(s), I wouldn't recommend going to Animal House Buckhead. read more

Also, I don't know what they did to her butt, she was irritated and dragging herself around for days after her visit. They are nice enough, but there are better options for a cut and I think 4+ stars is misleading. After living in the DC area for 10 years, I'm amazed how many groomers we had to try before finding a decent, relatively consistent one. read more

I would NOT recommend this groomer. After I picked up my dog and drove home two minutes away, I noticed they cut the skin under her eye. Accidents happen, so I called back to ask what happened and why no one informed me when I picked her up. The son told me they would cover the vet bill and his mom would call me. I never heard back and had to reach out a few days later. When I called back, the mother told me I did it and refused to cover the bill. Had they taken ownership of the mistake I would have felt differently. Surely I would not spend $70 to groom a 20 pound dog and then take clippers to her face two minutes after myself. My dog looked, felt and smelled amazing after her visit! They took hours to carefully brush out her fur, which was matted beforehand. They trimmed her feet very nicely and it looked great with her brushed out top. The staff is very friendly and was very knowledgeable about how to groom and care for my Bernese Mountain Dog. I took my Shih-poo for the first time today and was pleasantly surprised. They were a bit more expensive than I was expecting, but it was worth it. Pretty bummed been taking my dog here for months never have I been WOWED with the work but recently I've had to send him back for this or that when I pick him up. One time i asked that he not be around other dogs because he was having some skin rash i wasn't sure of and when i go to pick up there he is in the dog park with other dogs. Yesterday they decide to not ask/tell/call me to use some "special shampoo" and charge me an extra $10 without even notifying me when I was paying! She said "oh well I can credit you next time" On top of this Ive never ever been to a groomer that privacy area cut isn't included in a (now $60 bath - for a 7 lb dog). I asked when I dropped off and when I picked up - not even cut/trimmed nothing so not only was I overcharged but they didn't even do something that was asked for, common sense, and included. Don't take your pets here! We took our Golden Retriever here last week, he came back with his private area shaved so short that he got an infection and we were left with a $214 bill from the vet! I'm trying to find out why my dog was shaved like this to begin with, but the manager doesn't seem to want to prioritize her time to speaking to a dissatisfied client... needless to say we won't be taking our dogs back here! read more

I would not recommend them. They wanted to immediately shave my doodle because there was one patch of his fur that was matted instead of trying to brush it out. For comparison his previous groomer would brush him out with several more mats than this time. I told them to please not shave him and that I would pay more for their efforts. This is typically an extra $10-$15 with my previous groomer. I dropped him off at 8am and when I came to pick him up at 5pm they still weren't finished with him after they told me he would be done at 3pm. His entire face still needed to be trimmed, but I had another appt. I needed to get to so I decided to just take him. To top it off my final total was $115 before tip which is absolutely absurd. Final total with de-matting at my previous groomer was always around $65/hour before tip. read more

I've taken my Charlie to almost every groomer in the Buckhead area and Animal House is by far the best! They always give him the perfect cut and I don't have to overexplain or explain much at all... they just always do it exactly how I like! They make it so easy to schedule and always schedule with me via email and I appreciate that so much! The customer service is great and they truly care about all the dogs there and it's a lovely, dog friendly, happy environment! My little Charlie has a great time when he's there. I love how they don't board my dog in a cage all day and let him play with the dogs supervised in the room while they groom. My dog is a rescue and I hate having him in a cage. He's scared of that and I love that he gets to interact with other dogs & play. It's like a fun get out of the house and play spa day! I love Animal House! read more

Took my Maltese, they were super nice, seemed like they really cared about her and paid a lot of attention to specific stuff like leaving her hair as long as possible even where it needed to be shaved, and were talking to her like their own dog. Plus customers can see in the window to the grooming area so you can tell they're being cool. My dog looked fresh AF tbh and she left actually looking happy rather than like traumatized so that was dope. read more

We love Animal House Buckhead!! Our mini Australian Labradoodle Wally goes about every four weeks, and Justin, Jason and their team take such great care of him. They really know different grooming techniques and they've got the "teddy bear" look down perfectly. The best part is that our dog loves going and playing with the other dogs there. Our pup was a bit "skiddish", to say the least, about having his nails groomed. However, Linda took the time to carefully listen to us and his story, as well as explain the process she follows. She allowed dad to go back with him to give him initial comfort, and the process began... He did better than we expected; but it did take 2 people to work with him - he's big and strong, oh and wiggly. Linda was able to manicure him. I have a 65 lb golden doodle and after many visits to Petsmart and Petco where he would come back looking unrecognizable, I finally found a great groomer in Atlanta!! The staff are really friendly and helpful and listen to exactly what you say when you describe the kind of cut you want. Even better, when he's done getting groomed he gets to play in a social area rather than sit in a cage and wait for pick up. The price was a bit higher than an average pet-store groomer, but totally worth the extra bucks. Would recommend to any dog owner in Atlanta - especially Doodle-parents!! read more

The place to go in Buckhead for goldendoodles! We have been taking ours here for about a year now and just took our brother in law's goldendoodle puppy in as well and he looked wonderful. They have always done a great job but each cut gets better and better as they make sure to ask how we liked the last one and if we want any changes (after the first cut they took a photo of our dog so we could point out if we wanted anything different the next time!). You can tell everyone who works there really enjoys working with and being around animals as well and the dogs always come back happy and worn out, not traumatized. read more

This place is GREAT. I've been taking my dogs here for close to two years and have never had a bad experience. They do an awesome job grooming my two dogs. They always look so clean and smell amazing after they've been to see Ms. Linda. The groomers here always know how to cut around my dogs face and keep just the right amount of hair for them to not be "expressionless" after being groomed. Over a year ago we moved out of the city, and tried one or two groomers closer to where we live. None of them even came close to comparing to Animal House, so it's worth it to us to make the slightly longer drive to have our dogs groomed here. Overall would highly recommend. read more

Used to be so great - AWFUL now. I have been taking my dogs to Linda for 8 years and every visit was always perfect. She was so friendly and the dogs loved going there. They always looked fantastic after a visit. Animal House seems to be under new ownership and they are terrible. I say 'seems to be', because I cannot get a straight answer out of them when I ask if she is in. The last time we picked up one of our dogs she was covered in clipper tracks and looked ridiculous. I have been taking my maltese to Animal House in Buckhead for 12 yrs. With Linda gone, it's not the same. I gave a couple specific instructions, although I was assured the groomers were familiar with my dog, and my requests were mostly ignored. And charge was also $10-15 more than what I paid in May--$70 now for a 5lb dog that is kept cut short! read more

We have used Animal House for a number of years but are disappointed with the recent decline in the quality of their dog grooming. We took our two Golden Retrievers there recently and both came back cut to pieces, no longer resembling the finer points of the breed. The feathering on both tails was completely cut away and our younger dog will not be able to show for nearly a year until his feathers grow back to what they should be. Since moving into their Buckhead location, the level of help has deteriorated, and it seems more important they push dogs through their work flow, rather than cut each individual dog to its breed standard. Sadly, we may not return to Linda, as we no longer can trust the results, and for the price charged, we should be able to expect a quality at the same level. read more
