Sabrina was awesome as always, I stop by whenever she's working to get crickets and snacks for my animals, this week i stoped by and got some crickets and expressed some dissatisfaction about my previous visit with one of the other workers, he was very rude and over half of the crickets he gave me were dead before I got to my car. Sabrina took the time to listen to what I was saying and said she would take care of me. I always have a great experience when she's there, 10/10 would recommend working with her!! read more

We came here for some dog supplies recently. It reminds me of the Walmart of pet stores. It appears run down in places, some of their stuff (like their adoption area) was overflowing with boxes and it was hard to determine if it is always like that or they were just stocking shelves moments before we got there. It is a big store, almost a warehouse of sorts, and they have lots of things at reasonable prices. However, I didn't get any friendly vibes upon entering and the staff, while professional, didn't seem all that concerned with finding out what I was looking for. read more

You guys don't care about dogs in general, you knew my dog was doped up on medicine prior to his grooming appointment and I was sitting right there when Alyson lifted him in the table and put the leash on him. He never nipped her. It's okay, my business will be taken elsewhere and we will find the PERFECT groomer for my dog that is actually respected. Y'all laughed in my face when I got there, not even a hello, just print Theodore's paperwork and the reception and Alyson laughed in my face. Scheduled a grooming appointment for my dog at 9:30 am. When I dropped him off I was told it would be 3-4 hours. After 4.5 hours I still hadn't heard from them so I went to the store to check on him. When I arrived not only was he not ready, nothing had been done after almost 5 hours and then told me it would be at least another 45 minutes! He had been tied up in the back the entire time. Completely unacceptable and inhumane treatment! If I could post ZERO stars, I would. read more

I don't even think this Petsmart grooming service deserves one star. I took my sheepadoodle in for a groom and told them I was fine with a shave down if necessary (he was boarded for a week and had developed mats). I returned to pick him up looking like this. Intially, I wasn't going to say anything, and even tipped Jocelyn and Jules (training) even though I was not happy. But, this cut is just downright terrible and uneven. It looks like a job I could've done myself with absolutely no grooming training. Will not be returning to this location. read more

I've never been a fan of pet smart.. i was in there one day, and I asked if they sold acana dog food and the guy working there had no idea what kind of dog food I was talking about, it is one of the better kibbles. He had no idea he had never heard of it so I guess they don't sell it. But I just stopped there because it says that their grooming is open till 9, you can walk in and get a simple nail cut on your dog, so I drove all the way over there and grooming is not even open and it's 530. I will not go there ever again. read more

Our pup decided to roll in some goose pooh and he needed a bath right away. We were able to get him in that day and we did pay for the upgrade so he didn't have to be crated, but they did a great job and it was super fast and efficient. read more

It's great that PetSmart allows one to bring one's pets into the store, but there is always the tricky issue of the pets doing what pets do. Particularly dogs. I was going in to get some pet chow and a few other items recently at this particular PetSmart, and noticed a very substantial series of piles of things that dogs do left in a sort of Maginot line all the way across the entrance to this PetSmart. What contortions the dog and owner responsible must have gone through to leave such a substantially distributed hazard, I know not, but it was an impressive display of lack of interest in the social compact by the owner and agility by the dog. Deftly avoiding detonating any of the mines, and entering the store with a little hop-hop, I immediately went to the clerk at the front register, who was chatting with a colleague about this and that, almost certainly not about what I'd come to discuss. I informed them both about the need for a cleanup on Aisle Zero, they thanked me and said they'd take care of it "RIGHT AWAY" and went back to their chat. Well, about fifteen minutes later I'd finished my shopping, came back up to the register where the two clerks were (still? again?) amiably chit-chatting, and had my purchase rung up. And as I stepped through the automatic doors, I nearly put my foot down on one of the doggy surprises. I am proud to say I pirouetted away from a minor disaster, but noticed as I hopped from foot to foot that there were, where there had not been when I came into the store a quarter hour earlier, several footprints in the doggy delights, of various tread styles. Attention to detail. It's a difference-maker. I will almost certainly never shop here again, if only that I might eventually forget this little tableau. read more

Right off the bat walking in we were greeted by kind and friendly employees we went in to get a fish tank and all accessories to go with it and Alyssa was excellent in helping us make sure we got the right products for our fish. Will absolutely recommend this store to anyone. read more

The turnover rate with groomers and management is ridiculous. I finally found a good groomer at their Latham location. My dog got sick a couple days after his last groom so I naturally tried to figure out the issue. I contacted the grooming salon a few times with important questions my Vet thought I should ask to narrow down why my dog was so sick. I asked if they gave him treats and the grooming salon counted that as a "safety incident report" I called again to make sure no other dogs were sick. Come to find out my dog had food poisoning from a bad batch of dog food which the manufacturer made right with me. I got a call yesterday from the grooming salon telling me my dog was no longer allowed to be groomed there. I asked why and they said too many safety incident reports. I said how is that possible? I've never had an issue with the salon. They slipped and said well your mini Schnauzer is 12 now and there might be more reports in the future. I was shocked at that answer. That was the 3rd time they mentioned his age. My complaint with Petsmart has now been escalated to the regional manager. Laura at the Latham groomer is outstanding but the stores policies and management team are foolish. I have every right to try and figure out why my dog was sick. They counted all 2-3 of my calls about this situation as separate incidents and have banned my dog from being groomed there again. I've never once complained about a groom Laura has done on my dog. The managers currently there are brand new to the store. I did see one time a dog being groomed while I was there and the dog had slipped off the table and almost looked like he was being hung. The groomer caught it in time but I was stunned that the groomer looked away for that length of time. Even though Laura is an outstanding groomer I suggest you take your dog or cat someplace else. This place is totally irresponsible and incompetent. Don't put your furry pet in a dangerous situation by going to Latham Petsmart. Good luck read more

My dog, Hudson, when to the Petsmart grooming salon. I get a phone call two hours after dropping him off stating that the groomer and a manager are bring him to an emergency animal hospital because his eyes are filling with blood and have become very swollen after his bath. The ED doctor diagnosed him with scleral and conjunctival hemorrhage caused by trauma. Basically, the leash they used suffocated him. We also noticed a large bruise form over his eye. I can only hypothesis that someone abused my dog or that the "professionals" didn't notice that my dog was being strangled and violently hit his head. This isn't the first time this has happened at a Petsmart grooming salon. They clearly haven't changed their procedures to prevent this from happening or someone intentionally hurt my dog. Also why did this take two hours? He only received a bath and didn't get his haircut. How long was he sitting in a cage with his eyes bleeding before anyone noticed? read more

This PetSmart is average. They have a lot of dog/cat items. If you are looking for something other then that, you may not find what you are looking for. They have a small variety of bird and small pet items. The kids will love looking at the wall of fish. The staff is kind of friendly. Usually have to stand in line. If you go to purchase fish or animals be prepared to stand around until the staff feels the need to help you. read more

Last year my husband and i got our puppy and decided to go to petsmart for puppy training. Let me tell you that it was a total waste of money and time. The "trainer" did more talking instead of showing us how to actually train our puppy as well as let the dogs improperly socialize. We had an issue with our puppy and we asked her several times how to correct it and she just kept saying oh let me do some research and ill get back to you. The next class we asked her what she came up with and were told oh im not sure. We went some place else and within a week what a difference in our pup. Please if you have a puppy or dog DO NOT waste your time and hard earned money on their joke of puppy and dog training classes. read more

Oh Petsmart? Where art thou? You had many adoptions from Happy Cat Rescue out of this store, and then, suddenly, you drop them? Why did you not let them know, but instead a 'sorry, you can't show your cats here any longer', without a by your leave. So explanation, no excuses. Perhaps you aren't aware of the lives Happy Cat saves, and the work they do? If there was a problem, why not let them know? Nothing was said. And they had been with you a long time. Can you explain this? Cats that are featured in PetSmart get homes, but why would you deliberately just decide that this rescue can't show cats here? Do you know what that does to a rescue? It's not fair, no, no it's not. When I visit, you can bet I'll be taking my business elsewhere, as will I tell all my cat and dog friends to do the same. read more

Take our Shih Tzu here all the time to get groomed and usually they do a decent job. Very expensive compared to other places around, but figured its better since if anything happens there is a vet right in the store. Got our Shih Tzu back today and he had a large cut on his neck along with being very very thirsty. He was there from 10am - 2pm and obviously was not given water. I understand that mistakes happen and that dogs can get cut while being groomed but they did not even notify us of this. I would recommend being cautious if you are going to take your dog here. Ask your vet who they recommend and they usually will give you a good recommendation. read more

Wasn't told when I booked my appointment that I couldn't give my dog anxiety meds before he gets groomed (recommend by vet). I arrived to check him in and they asked if he took meds I said yes and they refused to take him! They should really tell you that when they book ! Go elsewhere read more

I've taken my dog here to get groomed. Watch out for up charges. You want an oatmeal shampoo? That's extra. Stuff like that. Let them know to call you when your dog is almost done if you don't want him sitting in a cage. That they did and was very pleased with. She also did good on his haircut. Petsmart seems to be revamping their set up, so there was a lot of ugly marks on the floor. read more

I am a rat owner. I have bought a few female rats from this PetSmart and they have been healthy, well socialized (for pet store rats) and about three months old. A local chain said they only had an 8 month female and one a little over a year. When you're talking about pets that only live two - three years, I don't want a year old pet! This PetSmart actually knows something about small animals and they carry a lot of supplies for small animals. They are also pretty good with fish. I would recommend this store based on the knowledge and helpfulness of the employees. read more

I am extremely disappointed that Latham, NY Petsmart would tell a long time cat rescue to vacate the premises. Marcia, who runs Happy Cat Rescue, has had her cats at this location for many years. She has rescued cats who were abandoned, abused or on death row in another shelter. She takes in cats that shelters wouldn't take or ones they would euthanize. She runs her cat rescue on donations and her own money. She was told to leave without any notice or reason why. Apparently an ex-volunteer who had her own agenda complained to corporate that she adopted out sick cats, and this was the reason she was asked to leave. They didn't even give her a chance to defend herself. As a result of Petsmart's actions I refuse to do any business there. I will tell everybody I know not to shop there either. With Petsmart it is not about the animals, it's about the money they are making off the traffic these rescues bring in. Shame on you Petsmart. I had to give a one star review to post this but they truly deserve zero stars. read more
