Shopping in Pearlridge Center, Aiea, O'ahu... I've been to the Ala Moana Center location, but not recently. I knew that they carried cute plushies, but I wasn't sure about the new trend... Labubus! Yes, Animation Magic has some. They also have the replicas called Lafufus. Each type is labeled. The authentic Labubus are priced higher than the Lafufus. You can tell the difference... mostly in the eyes... Service was helpful - even in this spacious store. There is such a variety of merchandise... Fake, scalping, and poorly disguised dropshipper. Just in case the average customer is not aware, pretty much everything in this store is FAKE and/or unofficial. Most of it is dropshipped garbage you can get from Aliexpress/Temu for 1/50th the price. Cheap quality, poor service, and insane prices on merch they hope you're too dumb to buy online for WAY cheaper. Not to mention they now have a known history of scalping releases and marking them up. Went to buy my daughter a nee doh squishy for $35. The cashier said that the owner stated that any authentic nee doh squishy can't be sold unless the customer spends an additional $5. They have all the cutesy, trendy stuff. They really do manage to keep up with the times. I go to the mall sometimes just to walk around and most people are so friendly whether you're buying from them or not. Yesterday I was just walking and being ignored didn't bother me. Tonight however, I brought my daughter in-law in. She wanted to purchase something that was locked up and she asked to see it but the tone of their voices not what they said just made me feel like it was such a bother. I walked by Animation Magic and I was pulled back into the store by the colorful sign and Pokémon and Unicorn greeters at the entrance. As I entered the magical store, I was enveloped in an array of squishy animals, anime, and more! This is definitely a fun store. I continued into the store and I was asked by employees if I needed anything. Happy and courteous people work here. The store was crowded. It's crowded because being in here brings a smile on your face. A perfect store to buy a birthday gift, a get well gift, a Valentine's Day gift and so much more! I focused on some anime banks here. So adorable and I like banks. I believed the price was reasonable. The only reason I held back from picking one up is that it was made of plastic. I'm old school and I like ceramic banks. Geared to kids but treats them like kaka. Nieces and nephew so excited to spend day together. Went to store, had products in their hand. Was asked rudely 'are u going to buy that?' They said 'no' since they were looking at it - then it was snatched rudely and roughly out of their hands. My nephew keep going 'I'm so embarrassed, I'm so embarrassed, I shouldn't have been here.' Making him feel shamed, small, and sorry. He doesn't deal with a-holes, so he turned this experience on himself. We had to explain over and over to him he did nothing wrong. It's hard to tell your child not to come into a store that is pretty much advertised for children, but the lady who seems like the owner (she is always here) has the ugliest personality I have ever seen. To open a place that attracts children and not be friendly is wild. My son always wants to stop in here and I don't know why I even bother spending money at a place who doesn't appreciate business. This time, I've had it with this lady. He wanted something from the case, that was clearly broken and we took it anyways. I despise coming here. First off, the place is too over whelming, there are so many items all of different themes. Next, the prices for labubus especially charge for an arm and a leg, $70 for a labubu is crazy and even the clothes are $30 each. Go to aloha charms to get those, they sell labubus for $45 and clothes that are affordable. And this place is very disorganized and even cramped. Don't recommend coming here. read more

DO NOT SHOP HERE! I stopped in to buy a twilight masquerade Pokemon Card ETB. Instead of handing me one of the many boxes in the display case, the assistant told me she would "get me one from the back". I gave the benefit of the doubt and didn't question it but when I opened the box I realized they sell resealed packs. The crimping is not straight and there a lot of wrinkles one both the top and bottom seals that should not be present on product direct from the pokemon company. I don't think I would trust any of their sealed card products, but if you're looking for cheap knockoffs, this is the place for you. read more

I visited this store in Pearlridge Mall with the kids and I was excited to see the variety of toys, collectibles, clothing and products. From Pokémon, Lego, Pop Its, Among Us, Disney. Etc. There's just a lot to check out. Kids will love seeing all the items and displays throughout. Staff were friendly and helpful in answering questions and finding the perfect items for presents. If you have a hard time finding certain collectible items, give this place a look. Prices are competitive. Fun place to visit and shop with the kids. Cool displays and great variety. read more

WARNING make sure what you buy here is official merchandise. I was sold a "Bandai" Godzilla and when I went down to Mini Q the real collectibles experts, the manager saw my box and immediately said it looks wrong. He showed me the real ones he brought in from Bandai. He said the fake is from like Temu or other clone online stores. He showed me his real box and mine was half the size of his, missing the hologram sticker, missing the window at the top of the box, and is distributed by a company we never heard of. I was pissed so I went back upstairs and told them they sold me a fake, their response was "thats why its $58"(coming from the owner in a sarcastic tone) I replied that they should be a sign in the case saying its not real instead of you trying to pass it off as a real item. She looked at me and said nothing. They also go right next door to Ross and buy all the kids toys and mark them up double and triple the Ross price. So sad when you gotta rip off little kids to make a little money. I can almost guarantee you all the plushes are fake or cheap China copies. If I could give a 0 rating I absolutely would. Buyer beware!!! This store is selling what is "authentic" Labubu exciting macaron monsters for $28.99. When in fact it is not authentic. I purchased one downstairs at kawaii corner for $59.99 and this is authentic. I compared boxes and the color is different and small details such as scanning the halo code or little icons. Which if you didn't have anything to compare it to you would not know. And I don't care for labubus that much, however I care about integrity!!! So if you sell something authentic to people it better be what you say it is! I confronted management with my concerns and she immediately said it's close but not real as the one they have is a Hong Kong version. Who knows what else in there is fake. Ohmygosh I'm so happy to still see Animation Magic here in Pearlridge Center. They have been my savior for countless of gifting when I needed that something and there were time I didn't know what but their adorable selections just spoke to me. Maybe it's because this particular location is massive than what I'm used to it feels much more sparse and not as much choices in characters as I'm used to seeing. First off, I've been spending money at this store ever since they opened on things such as pokemon cards and mini brands. One day I finally decided to ask if they had a rewards program because usually every place of business has one nowadays. The cashier said they had a stamp card. I asked if it was new and she said no. If it was something they always had why don't they advertise that to customers? Today I had went there to pick out a couple things and my total came out to $19.88. I handed them my stamp card and the cashier lady was going to stamp it, but this other lady with glasses and a ponytail (I think she's the manager because she's always there) looked at the register screen and said I can't have a stamp because my total was $19.88 and it needed to be $20. I was annoyed because it was only 12 cents less than $20, but nonetheless I went to go find something for cheap. I found an item that was $1.99, and brought it to the front, but the whole time the cashier lady was ringing me up again the other lady with glasses kept looking over her shoulder to make sure my total was $20. As if I could get anything in their overpriced store for 12 cents or less. Then the same lady took longer than necessary just to stamp my card. The whole time she did not have a smile on her face as she was just clicking away at the computer the whole time. It was just 12 cents, why couldn't they just give me the stamp? The cashiers there are always nice, but that lady that's always there with the black glasses and the black hair that's in a ponytail always seems like she's having the worst day and she's never nice. I tried to return it but they said no refunds, but gave me store merchandise credit over $17 and took my funko pop. Few months go by and i found my store credit, it was ripped in an unsafe place. I could kinda see the words and a few pieces ripped so i tapped it together and back went to animation magic and try to buy a $16 hat. When i pulled out my store credit to the old lady at the checkout section, she told me "what is this??" and i said "the store credit" and i explained what happened to the store credit. They bring another worker and i explained what happened to that credit paper. They said i cant use the card looking like that and told me to throw it away or something. I said "ok"disappointed, and walked away. YOU CAN STILL SEE THE WORDS AND ITS NOT EVEN EXPIRED YET. MAN COULDVE CHEERED ME UP BY GIVING ME A LOLLIPOP OR SOMETHING. I felt unwelcome in there. PLUS THE STUFF WAS OVERPRICED. AND NOT TO MENTION THAT EVERYTHING IN THERE IS LITERALLY A BOOTLEG. THEY SCAMMED ME. So yap thats why i am never coming back to this store ever again. read more

Animation Magic has a lot of interesting collectibles, and harder to find items. They have especially interesting Lego figurines. It was quite crowded in the store so we did not stay long. My husband wanted to get a Lego figurine and my son got a dinosaur. A lot of the smaller items are behind locked glass cases, and they hold the item for you at the cash register. I would assume it would be so that you didn't steal it! The checkout area was cluttered with a lot of cash register receipts and seemed quite disorganized. My 8 y/o daughter REQUESTED to spend her allowance money at this place. She found an un-wrapped foam "pick axe," that appears to be from the game MINECRAFT. No price tag or anything. So I was SHOCKED it was ... price to be disclosed later in this review. She really wanted it even though there were obvious scuffs, gouges in the foam. The flat personality, blue-haired cashier tells my daughter her total is " 21.47." Wth? So I intervene and ask how much is it and the cashier says " $15.99." She stared at me blankly when I pointed to the deficiencies on the item and she POINTED 2 aisles away " theres a new wrapped one over there." Why didn't she offer that NEW one in the first place? My son retrieved the new one, we completed the sale and as we were leaving... we observed the staff wrapping and ticketing the scuffed and damaged pick -axe!!! We took photos of the staff with the derelict item. We will NOT waste time or money at this store again. We prefer to order these items on WISH, and wait 5 weeks rather than risk COVID and FLU exposure at a busy Pearlridge Shopping Center. He pops it in and tells me it doesn't work! He shows me the game and sure enough, on the game where you place the batteries it LITERALLY shows AAA BUT it actually takes AA, SMFH! Visited the new bigger store in Pearlridge. Was not impressed by the staff. Asked for assistance and the young lady that was stocking merchandise seemed bothered. When returning the item she didn't even acknowledge us or make eye contact. Just grabbed the merchandise and continued on her task. The store is bright, clean and well displayed. Stood in line for awhile to purchase. When finally to the front of line the cashier was counting change. After waiting I was finally waived to the front. There was no smile, no "thanks for waiting". She also never told me my amount owed. Just said sign and never even said "Thank you". Our other party purchased a few minutes after and was greeted just as "cold". The only person that was friendly was the older lady helping us in the front of the store. Please get more customer friendly help!!!! read more

I love finding Tokidoki and Pokemon merch here. Very few stores even carry Tokidoki to begin with, and if they do, they're prices are sky high. Here the prices can be up there, depending on what you're looking for. For the most part, I can count on finding items marked down for sale. Along with Pokemon and Tokidoki, there are many other popular kids character items. Peppa pig, Paw Patrol, Fortnite, Naruto, L.O.L. surprise and much, much more! Within those character items they sell shirts, jackets, backpacks, toys, even accessories like hair bows, brushes and jewelry. When I visit there's normally only one employee working so sometimes you'll need to have patience when they're assisting other customers. I'll continue to shop here as long as they're in business because of all the items they offer. Highly suggest if you have children or are into Disney, cartoons or anime. read more

Animation Magic, what a misleading store name! Hmm, where should I start? The moment I walk in I feel very un welcomed, no "Hi, do you need help finding anything today?" Just dirty stares and it feels like all the workers are just watching your every move. This place is absurdly organized, and the workers have no etiquette at all. This store sells a lot of bootleg items for much more than it's worth, and treats their customers like shit. Not only is this place already cluttered, but the staff are just all over the place and getting in everyone's way with no manners at all. Rolling their eyes at customers, talking shit about them, walking into them without pardoning themselves! There are many things here that aren't sold at other places, but I personally do not wanna step foot in this store again. My experience with Animation Magic was horrible. read more

My niece is named after Ariel and this is one of the places I get all her gifts. There's also another location located on the downtown side that is just as awesome. I did not have a bad experience with the staff, but neither did i have an overly welcoming feeling either. In most places staff will greatly you with a hello or may i help you. Here the staff kinda just takes notice of you then continues about their business. However, they do have a lot of cool and interesting items for the kids. Its worth your time to take a look, but some items can be expensive. Its geared towards the younger children. They are located in pearl ridge uptown between the eacalators. Since this is a pop up store, im wondering if they are getting ready to close down their business. This is the thrid location for them in pearlridge and pop ups are never permanent. The store is really cluttered and disorganized and many items seem to be knock off or bootlegs being sold for retail price or marked up higher than they should be. A lot of the plush items are a little "off" looking or the wrong colors. Worst customer service ever! Do not purchase from this store. Kerri Nakanishi Gray (short chubby asian lady in her 50's), who stated she was the owner of the store, is the most horrible foul person to be in the customer service industry. I was shopping in the store with my child and was horrified when I overheard her call a customer CUNT as the customer was walking away from the register (when confronted by the customer, she said she called her a cunt because the customer supposedly snatched the receipt from her). Witnessing the whole experience was horrifying. And to be called a cunt for supposedly snatching a receipt? That is insane. What kind of person uses a word like cunt and says it out loud to a customer in a kids toy store? Kerri Nakanishi Gray, that's who! The owner of the store! No apology was given by Kerri for her foul and offensive language, even when the customer told her that if she did snatch the receipt, she did not mean to. When confronted by the customer on why she felt it was appropriate to use the word cunt, Kerri just kept repeating, "why did you snatch the receipt", "why did you snatch the receipt". Kerri would not hear or listen to anything the customer was saying. The customer could not get through to Kerri and she ended up leaving. I give that customer so much respect for not kicking Kerri's a**, and for not using the same foul and offensive language back. Takes a real woman to be able to walk away from a situation like that after being called something so nasty. Kerri owns a kids toy store and speaks like that to her customers while there are kids in the store shopping. Now my young child is asking me what the word cunt means. How do you explain a word like that to a young child? I am so horrified that I had to leave a review. Do not bring your children to this store unless you want them to learn nasty words.
