    8-18-21 glow rocks
    Gail U.

8-18-21 we came with our sweetie to this store in Kahala Mall. She had asked me a few weeks earlier if I could bring her the next time I watched her. Probably my first time in there. It was mind boggling to see so many cool items for her to get excited about. In my mind I thought it was high end Danish wooden toys but it wasn't. She ended up with glow rocks, one from a different rack that looked like pyrite, 3 pop its, a package of thick colorful strings that looked like long gummy worms, and a squishy glob. She tells me she hopes it's less than $30. When the cashier says $41 something she looks at me- it's fine I told her. She was thrilled. She knew about all the items she got and could describe its function or what you do with it.. She had to selectively decide what she really wanted and what she was willing to put back. I was very proud of her. My credit card was happy too.

For a small store, there are plenty of new and old school games that bring back that family time interaction instead of the zombie effects of today's phones and interactive video games. I bought a nice full sized wooden chess set here last Black Friday for 20% off and this year I got the same deal on a small wooden magnetic travel chess set. The friendly staff here also has a frequent buyer reward program that gives you a discount after so many purchases! Next door is a their sister store for younger kids called "Thinker Toys" that has everything for toddlers, preschoolers and on up to grade schoolers. A fun store to visit and rediscover those fun family good fun times! Do yourself a favor and come into the play land of Toys and Things that make you a Thinker!

This is a pretty fun store with a lot of Knick knacks and puzzles and stuff. Pretty good. Look like they have a lot of great products that would make for pretty cool small gifts. They have a lot of collectibles as well. I need to come back and pick up some games.

I heart Thinker Things... Can't walk around this store and not laugh! Also.... Can't walk around this store with my mini me's (since there are explicit words/phrases that they could read... and I don't feel like explaining to them what WTF means...) Came in on a whim to look for small items to use in my Bridal Shower gift and I am a happy customer! Got two bright working ringing bells... a bell for her (Ring for kiss) and a bell for him (Ring for sex). Lol! I love their to-do lists/post it note selection and their Blue Q products. Will definitely be back for Mother's day gifts.

Bought this for my kids for Christmas and they LOVED it.

Went there before christmas. The gentleman was very helpful and seemed to know the product. I bought the bubble lick make your own flavor bubbles. It was a total hit for my kids. Each made their own flavor and they thought it was hilarious to try and catch each others bubbles. From fruit punch to root beer they had a blast. I totally recommend this place for something a little different.

Once you set your eyes on something rare, I recommend buying it instead of waiting because I guarantee you it will not be there the next time you visit. I also advise that the store can get really expensive because these are mostly imported goods from Japan. So spend wisely! Sales and discounts are also provided, but on rare occasions. However, be prepared to pay more than what you'd expect as other reviewers had pointed out - the prices are high for what these items really should cost, which sucks, but I believe there is a reason(s) for this. I purchased a small plush keychain, a tee, a magnet and a sticker and the cost was just over $90 - the cost of the tee surprised me the most as it's $55 and I was expecting this to be more in the $40-$45 range. The store is on the smaller side and even on a weekday afternoon after 3pm, it was packed. It's located at the end of the row of stores, adjacent to the side of the Royal Hawaiian where the Sheraton is. Staff at the store were nice and helpful with any questions that I had. Besides the plushies, they had a great selection of stickers as well as magnets and keychains. For decades, I was aware of how popular Miffy has been in Japan (my cousin in Japan had Miffy items since the 90's), but for the U.S., I feel it has become increasingly popular within the last 2-4 years or so. I'm not sure if it's possibly because the creator, Dick Bruna had passed away in 2017 and since then, licensing and the creation of more Miffy merch and collabs may have become more easier to come out with, at least that's been the speculation. Although I'm generally not a fan at all of Hello Kitty or Sanrio, nor do I particularly like rabbits, there is something about Miffy that does appeal to me more than Sanrio characters - likely the simple design and neutral expression on Miffy and that it came before Sanrio characters such as Hello Kitty and its European vibes. Before this, I'd ordered a plush Miffy keychain from the Kira online shop in SF. The keychain ended up being much bigger than expected for me to place on a bag/backpack so I decided that I'd stop by this store during my few days in HI to see if I can find a smaller keychain and maybe a tee as I heard this is currently one of only two Miffy themed stores in the U.S., the other being Miffytown in Kentucky. If you're in Honolulu and are a fan of Miffy, then this is worth checking out.

The prices can be a bit steep but I don't think it's very different than say Sanrio or other Miffy products that I have purchased. If you go to the three Kira stores and make a purchase you get stickers on cards. If you fill it up you get a small surprise. Don't know what it is though.

I had called to see if I can purchase the Marvel holiday pack the a day earlier than release on their website and pickup the same day, and the person on the phone said I could. Only to arrive, the rude employee told me he's unable to sell, and than he talked to his colleague(on slack on the spot), and he's colleague said he was under the impression if I just wanted to buy stuff online and pickup the same day, which isn't what I specifically asked for. So the employee tried to brush me off, a paying customer. 2) If you want to go to events: Don't. The same employee runs events and he's incredibly rude. Hes got a long grey goatee and long grey hair. Very disgruntled. He literally yelled at me because I couldn't hear him because of the event going on. He was clearly annoyed because he recalls me coming in the day before to try to buy the Marvel holiday gift box. 2.a) When I tried to enter the FNM, he told me to scan the QR code on the TV and follow instructions. He didn't tell me I needed an app to scan the QR code, luckily the nice lady next to me told me I needed to scan using the app. Once I did, the app informed me to go to staff to register me. As I approached the same disgruntled employee, I was trying to inform him that the app told me to see him, and he immediately just asked if my name was on screen, which it was(even before I scanned the QR), and replied saying yes, and he told me that I don't need to keep going up to the front and that I need to calm down and relax. I'm calm enough to not get tilted by a salty disgruntle worker, but this message is a reminder to him and others, of his attitude, and that I've seen other reviews of his work ethic. I was hesitant on posting this review, but unfortunately this certain situation keeps on happening and I am not going to stand for it anymore. Me and my partner frequently go to this shop whenever we are wondering the mall, and almost every time we have gone and shopped, we are almost ALWAYS being watched... it is very disturbing and disappointing seeing that it seems like they are profiling us. Things to note about us: my partner ALWAYS wears small fanny packs, and me, a purse that is closed at all times. We wear casual clothes, and yet, they continue to stare at us, and follow us around the store. Of course, we had NO INTENTIONS of stealing, and yet them watching us makes us feel like criminals. There should not be an excuse of the employees being "too shy" because this is inappropriate behavior, and again, makes me feel very uncomfortable, leading me to my next point. I will no longer shop here again. The amount of times we have caught employees literally WATCHING US is unacceptable, especially since I have previously worked retail myself, and am always frustrated with theft as well, but just choosing random people to watch without any actual ques or a real reason is just disgusting. There are things that you are trained to watch for when you work in retail, and it seems like there is a lack of that. It makes me sad because I loved your products and what you had to offer, but I am sorry, if I can't shop here without being watched like a hawk, then I can just take my business elsewhere. Please train your employees better and train them correctly on watching for theft in the right way. I hope no one else has to experience this. :(
