This store is the best. They carry all types of products from my favorite anime. The store is filled with many different anime items and they are constantly adding new things. I always easily spend at least $100 everytime I go. The guy with the glasses that works there is so nice and helpful. You can tell he loves his job which who wouldn't be working with anime all day? I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I did not even know that an anime shop existed in the DFW area until last week. There were tons of DVDs, posters, wall scrolls, and figurines in here! It was expensive though ($20 for a poster, eek!), but totally understandable because they import stuff from Japan. We were not greeted immediately by the cashier but she hunted us down about 5 minutes later and apologized for not doing so earlier. She also said that she would be more than happy to answer any questions we had. I was totally impressed by this great customer service. I have no idea why, but some of their DVDs were in bad condition. The plastic on the outside of the cases were torn and peeling away. Only some of them were that way though (the YuYu Hakusho ones in particular). They have tons of box sets from Clannad+AS (watch this people, please!!) to Ano Natsu de Matteru to Oreimo. It was standard price, what you would expect to pay for online. This place has a lot of Madoka Magica stuff. I think they have a soul gem in the display case! It was SO cool looking in real life! I wanted it but it cost too much for me! They have green tea kitkat too! I wish I knew that before ($10)! I wasted money having it shipped from Japan for $13 only for it to completely melt by the time it got here. I overheard the cashier saying that if you wanted something, you could tell them and they would try to see if they could get it for you, which was totally cool of them to do in my opinion. I ended up getting 2 keychains for $11 and I looked on the back and what do you know? They actually do sell authentic stuff from Japan, no lie, it said on the back of the Kuroko no Basuke button package: made in Japan, for sale in Japan only. The cashier is a little inattentive or maybe she thinks you're looking at stuff on the back wall so you have to get her attention at the register and she'll check you out. I love this place! I always go here to buy my husband Gundams and cool anime movies. I usually get myself the cool anime figurines, or the posters. Plus they always have sales going on! and they have days where if you spend over like $30 you get a free stuffed animal, or other cool prizes. Its definitely worth checking out! Bad customer service ... The girl that was there didn't want to give me the time of day. So, I didn't want to give them any of my business. As for the place itself it had a good amount of anime stuff like DVDs, manga, figurines, wall scrolls, etc... Most of it was a bit over priced. I found some great wall scrolls on amazon and more to choose from. Over all it was ok, if u can't wait on your anime go and get it. Honestly i wish i could give this place zero stars. I really wanted to love this place being i am a huge anime fan. My husband took me here because i was looking for some sailormoon and digimon collectibles. when we arrived we were greeted very coldly by the employee there. the only statues that were there were big breasted anime girls from hentai and other adult related animes. The website advertised a huge selection of manga and anime but upon arrival the "huge" selection of manga and anime was one bookshelf full of manga neither my husband nor i had ever heard of. The movie section was one shelf full of nothing but hentai. There was nothing catered towards the female demographic. I was the only female in the store and the store employee kept giving me a dirty look while i was trying to shop around the store. almost as if i was not allowed to be in the store. My husband asked the store employee about a few digimon and sailormoon items he had found and when he asked the employee to retrieve my favorite charecters:sailor pluto,sailor venus,and byomon,the employee could not identify the characters. there was no dragnoball,no pokemon,no one punch man,or any other hugely popular anime merchandise to be found in the store. all of the merchandise was extremely overpriced. The small plastic keychains and phone charms were priced between 15 to 20 dollars. The plush keychains my husband bought me were priced at 30 dollars and are only about 4in tall.There were some big plush stuffed toys but they were priced at 70 dollars and higher. Everything in the store was priced way more expensive than it should have been. I do not recommend this place for any anime collector. I created this account just so i could tear apart this place. I know as soon as this review goes up it will either be taken down or they will put out different stuff to pretend like they are a good place but DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR BUISNESS!!!!!!! read more

Tons and tons and tons of anima, manga, figurines, models, toys, etc. But that's about it. There is a handful of transformers/gundam stuff that I like, everything else is a little out there. It wouldn't be fair to give a rating based on them selling things I'm not into, but the reason I go with 3 stars is because the things they do sell that I'm into seem to be a little over priced. The staff is great though, very friendly and helpful. If you are looking for something specific in this space they either have it or they can get it for you. I have been shopping at this store for almost a decade now. GREAT selection of merchandise new and old (I, personally, am a fan of their Gundam Model Kit selection) and a friendly atmosphere. Jen and Phil are always willing to help answer any questions you have and offer phenomenal recommendations if you're looking for something new to watch or read. I recommend this store to all my friends and to anyone I meet interested in Anime. A few reviews on here tend to complain about the prices of Anime Pop's merchandise. Of course, you can buy some of the items at this store at a lower price on Amazon or other warehouse/wholesale dealers. Try to remember that small businesses do not have the same privileges that major dealers, like Amazon, have. It cost quite a bit of money to import all those goodies you like from Japan and still manage to make enough to keep the business afloat. There's a reason why this is the only Anime store left in DFW. While you may have to fork over an additional $5-$10 for that model kit or figurine you're dying for, you also have the opportunity to meet fellow fans and discover something new (again, great recs). What a great store, just visited the new location and was amazed by the selection of Bandai robot kits. Pricing seems very aggressive or compared to Amazon. HIGHLY recommend! Very clean, good music that isn't blaring extremely loud, tons of manga and quite a buy of anime to buy. The guy working there was extremely friendly and quirky. Knowledgable and helpful. They have tons of anime figures, keychains, plushes, cups/glasses, phone cases, blind boxes, cell phone straps and chibi figures. Some stuff can be pricey but some stuff is a real steal! Absolutely love it. A must for any anime fans in Dallas. Will go again and again!! Pop Kulture is now known as Anime Pop. It's the best place to go to in north Dallas to find anime. They have a great selection of DVDs to rent. They carry DVDs to buy, as well as lots of Taiwan and Chinese imports. Good selection of CDs and posters. Lots of toys, plushies and other figures. They carried some import magazines last time I checked, if I recall correctly. It's another place to look for foreign films, Korean, Japanese and other. read more

If your looking for dvds 5 stars but on blue rays I'd give it a 2 star so overall a 3. The blue rays were very pricy.. They did have an awesome collection of anime collectables..however their price is high. I have been shopping here for years. Very friendly staff and extremely helpful and honest about their products. The price is reasonable as well since almost everything in the store you will not find being sold at any regular hobby or toy shop. If you buy blind box figures and get one you don't like sometimes they even offer to trade you for the one you wanted. I really like this place and hope it goes nowhere anytime soon. As a hardcore raging otaku, I will basically hunt down anime stores. While on my search I noticed a little store, aka anime pop. It is definitely a lot smaller than I expected but it wasn't so small I couldn't move around aisles in half a step. The majority of things they had were figurines... Lots and lots of figurines. They were a lot cheaper than those at a convention but then again, most are. They also had little doo-dads here and there like key chains, puzzles, a little section for t shirts, food (yes food, like pocky and such), and stuff like that. It was definitely an interesting experience, and I may visit there a bit more just in case they update their stock. :) read more

This place is pretty cool, I'm not big on anime so I had no idea about most of this stuff, but they have a lot (according to my much more anime-oriented family). You walk into this small store and directly to your right are jewelers cases filled with hundreds (not even kidding there...) of anime figures - and these are just the little ones that are like key chains, jewelry and cell phone buddies (?). They are all organized according to genre, show AND character, which appeals to the OCD in all of us. They have pre-apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic characters as appropriate, etc. If you can pry your face away from the glass cases, you will be greeted by three walls covered with anime posters, banners (not sure if that's the right word?), scrolls and clothing. Just past the register is a smaller glass case filled with purses, cell phone cases (?) and various other items. Against the back wall is a large glass display case with the large, fancy collectible figures prominently displayed. They even have figures that aren't actually from a show but are the "mascots" for a product or channel or something? They staff tried valiantly to explain it to me. Very cool, even for someone like me who doesn't know anything about anime... The aisle shelves themselves are filled with books, graphic novels, DVDs and other figures. A few are devoted to T-shirts and messenger bags (my favorite). The staff is incredibly helpful and engaging, not at all what I expected! They have a wider selection than most anime stores in the area, and all of their merchandise is licensed and not counterfeit like some of the other anime stores in Dallas. This means that it's a bit pricey at times, but you're paying for the fact that it's not fake and for the convenience of buying in person. Staff is usually very friendly aside from this one guy that always seems disinterest and is just not helpful in general. I've been shopping here for about 6 years now and have loved it since the first day. Everyone that works there is extremely helpful and knows their shit when it comes to anime. Not only do they know what each anime is about but even what the various studios are up to, so I would consider them experts in their field. They have an extensive catalog of manga and dvds, a huge collection of figures and gundam models, and a wide selection of wallscrolls and other miscellaneous items. Their prices can be pretty steep at times, but I try my best to support the small local businesses instead of the big guys. This is seriously one of the best stores for fans anime, manga or Japanese pop culture. The first time I walked in I was overwhlemed by the sheer magnitude of what they had to offer. The staff are awesome and friendly, and know their stuff. They also will pretty much pre-order or special order anything for me if it is in their ability to get it. Not sure what that one reviewer meant, but anyone who pre-orders always gets a discount. I actually have dozens of titles on pre-order and have saved lots of money over the years having them on pre-order. Plus, I have been given free goodies TONS of time when I have spent a big chunk of change (too often for my husband's liking lol). I have referred many people to the store because of their unique and awesome variety of merchandise. All of them have come away happy and thankful that they have discovered the store. read more

A great place for window shopping for models, or buying smaller things like keychains that are unavailable anywhere else. We recently bought a Pichu plush that couldn't be found anywhere because it was a rare crane game toy from Japan. My main issue with Anime Pop is the price, practically everything is overpriced and can be found cheaper elsewhere. I recently ordered a Sailor Moon Black Lady figure for 43 dollars on Amazon, and it was 60 or 65 at Anime Pop. I was looking at some blu-rays and they were 15-20 dollars cheaper elsewhere (not on sale). Even stuff like Ramune and candy has a pretty big markup. I understand they need to mark things up a little bit as a B&M store and it's kind of a niche place, but as a customer it's hard to justify paying more. That being said, I'll keep going back to the store every once in awhile to check things out. Every once in awhile there's something worth buying. read more

I've been going to Anime Pop for a few years now and enjoy my visits here. They have anime dvds, manga, merchandise, figurines, collectibles, and Japanese snacks. They're anime rental is one of the most impressive sections they have, but for someone like me who doesn't live nearby, it doesn't benefit me any. However, the anime dvd rentals is ingenious for those who do live nearby and wish to catch up on the latest or oldest of anime. The store is pretty narrow and although it usually isn't busy, can become quickly cramped when 10 people are walking about the store. As for prices they seem pretty steep (pretty average for anime stores at cons too though). Most of their merchandise (like most things) can be found cheaper online. What I do wish the store carried are cosplays and accessories (only accessories currently available are Naruto headbands). Overall, if you love anime, you'll enjoy browsing about Anime Pop. read more

I've been going to this store for years. I really love it. While some people may feel that the prices are high I feel that the prices are comparable to online retailers, I don't haveto pay shipping, and I know everything is legitimate and not bootlegged. The new location is ssuper bright and clean, and it's really easy to find what I'm looking for. They have a large selection of merchandise and manga. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. They are even signed up with Belly so you can earn points towards discounts. I totally don't mind driving from Plano for this store. read more

My favorite store, hands down. With products ranging from wall scrolls, dvds, cds, manga to action figures, plushies, and keychains... it is unlikely that you will not find what you're looking for so long as you're looking for something fairly popular. If you're looking for something a little off the beaten path you may need to go elsewhere or they may have to order it for you, which they are more than happy to do! If you like Japanese candy, this is the place for you! They have a wide variety of Meiji candies and Pocky (Glico - mm coconut!), I love the chew candies. Oh, they also have Ramune, a new flavor Mango is really good, but the Lychee (Litchi), Strawberry and Melon are still my favs. This is a great store, the employees are super nice, but not exactly customer service oriented, which is actually just fine with me! ^.^ The prices are really awesome, especially for the imports, I haven't found a better place and believe me, I've looked around! read more
