Visiting family in Surprise and was looking for a good spot to have lunch. Bonfire did not disappoint! We went during the week, so I can't attest to whether it gets crowded or not on the weekends; but we were able to sit immediately and for an afternoon weekday it was rather packed. The young server was really helpful with recommendations. Our table ordered the Smoked Wings (dry rub and hot honey), onion rings, fries, side salad, brisket dinner, and the Blue Berry Mule. Everything was delicious!!! I'm not a soul had a complaint. I'd definitely recommended this spot. My only concern is that for a restaurant that size, there's only one bathroom and there are some booths right next to it (I wouldn't want to sit there). read more

Feel free to post my full visit from your security footage! My husband, kids, and I stopped in for an early dinner, we had never been but see the reviews online so we wanted to try it out! Getting seated, we didn't want a high top and it was the only thing available. The hostesses couldn't give us an estimate of what the wait time would be for a different table, but I'm realizing after our horrendous experience- they probably weren't trained. We ended up just taking the high top to negate any further confusion with a time estimate. It's crowded inside, and your table is crowded. The energy and atmosphere is tense and overwhelming. It's a sports bar, though- so I feel like that's consistent with any other sports bar you'd pop in to. We decided on the build your own appetizer to start, it came out room temperature. While our server was taking our order for the rest of the food (there was apparently an issue with the table next to ours and their food being taken to the incorrect table, again with poor training) the manager went out to the table next to ours to deliver food and turned to the server at my table, taking my order, and interrupted me to yell at her. He yelled at her about putting the incorrect table on the tickets and the food going to the wrong table, yelled at her the right table numbers( I guess for her to remember next time?), and then stormed off. Leaving our server, to pick up the pieces and apologize for an emotionally triggered man that should have some self control if he's leading a team or part of a company. I was absolutely disgusted with the behavior of the leadership in this establishment and the food was unremarkable. Cold, bland, and stingy is how I would describe the food we were served. There were barely any cheese curds on the Poutine, The Ole Smokey pizza was mediocre and the pasta was bland. I think this restaurant rides the coattails of being on the food network but it does not meet expectations, by far. There is a lack of training all around and that falls on leadership, only. The hostesses couldn't give a wait time, the bartender was over serving customers (I'm reporting that separately to the state), and the servers/runners aren't fully trained for the floor- but instead of teaching, training and finding a resolution- their lead will berate and belittle them to satisfy his ego and ruin your experience. This is my go to place for wings. I usually for go getting any wings as I'm fairly picky and would rather do without if the wings are just okay but here they are always nice and crispy. The pizza and ribs are also very good. Pizza crust itself has a lot of flavor and rib meat always cleanly comes off the bone. Staff is friendly and the place does not get overly loud like many Tap house kitchens do. read more

In town visiting a friend for their birthday, after an early morning cross country flight and a long day of running errands to prepare for their party, we were starving. A quick Yelp search turned up Bonfire. Happy hour? Yes, please! Give me the smoked wings, medium. If they're good enough for Guy Fieri, there good enough for me. And that's the truth. Smoked flavor and taste. Medium spice wasn't as hot as I'd like, so I'll probably go "hot" next time. Not dry, good size, and definitely a great appetizer! Then the main course: the Brisket Sandwich. Get extra horseradish aioli, because they kick from it makes the sandwich so yummy! Good amount of coleslaw for the side, though a bit dry for my preference, but still a tasty side dish. I was visiting Surprise, AZ and Bonfire Craft was close by my hotel. My husband loves BBQ and decides to try out this place. We saw a DDD sign when we got to the place. I would think this would be a good sign to have been featured on DDD. It was of course. The food was good. We ordered wings and burnt ends. Our server recommended these two items. We were only here for a snack; we had dinner reservations in two hours somewhere else. The wings were good. I liked that the most. The burnt ends were good too, but some were very dry. My new favorite in Surprise. Went with my mom and wife for lunch and we had such an amazing experience. Kira was our server and was wonderful. She guided us through the huge drink menu and even bigger food menu. All of her recommendations were terrific. The monsoon pizza was so delicious and very unique. We sat at the bar for our meal and the bartender was great, very prompt and attentive throughout our meal. Had a burger and onion rings with a "Brookie" for desert. The Brookie is a warm brownie and chocolate chip cookie, plus a scope of vanilla ice cream . . . very good. They'll make the burger to order which is becoming a rarity these days. Pretty good spot to eat before a Rangers game in Surprise. Food gets a 5. I had the Michigan Blue burger, which was filling and had really good flavor. Scooper fries were fine. I would've rather had tater tots or one of the other 'premium' sides, but a $4 up charge seemed a bit steep. Others at my table had the salad with shredded brisket and buffalo wings with a mustard BBQ sauce. All liked their food. Our choices were easier as they were out of all their regular brisket and chicken breasts from a busy night before. Service gets a 3. It was friendly but nonexistent at times. Two of us got our food fast, but the third didn't. Multiple people came by to ask how everything was and if we needed anything else. "Um, my food?", my friend asked. This should never happen. Service then disappeared a few more times, drinks sat empty, and waits were long when there really wasn't a reason. I am shocked that I am one of the few low reviewers. Not sure if quality went down after Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives came here, but the food we ordered was not good. We ordered the Brisket Poutine, which I can without a doubt say, it was not close to any brisket that I have tasted. I was on a BBQ Cook-off team in Texas and made my fair share of brisket. The meat that was on the Poutine tasted like pot roast. Our first order that came out barely had any cheese on it, so we asked for more cheese, which we would have added ourselves, but they insisted on remaking the dish. Came out with more cheese, but was still awful. I was expecting a good smoked brisket, not the soggy meat that was on the poutine. The Monster Mary was OK, but after we had about 1/4 of our drinks, the bartender came over and asked if we wanted her to add some key ingredients to our drink. She said something like, the other server had already put the toppings on, so she couldn't add the key ingredients. I thought that was a little strange. I've been a longtime customer of Bonfire Craft Kitchen & Tap in Surprise and have always enjoyed the food. The quality has consistently been good, which is why this experience surprised me. I called to order two pizzas and was quoted $52. When I mentioned that an online menu listed them at $16 each, I wasn't arguing -- I was simply trying to understand the price difference. Unfortunately, the manager became argumentative and dismissive instead of calmly explaining the situation. If the online menu was inaccurate, that's understandable -- but how that information is communicated matters. A respectful explanation would have gone a long way. I don't often find myself in Surprise, but I did on a Saturday night after attending a water lantern festival in town. I wanted to get a taste of the nightlife in town so I hopped on the trusty Yelp app, and Bonfire Craft Kitchen & Tap House seemed like the best choice. We made our way over and parked in the parking lot they share with other businesses in this shopping center. The parking lot was busy, but I found a spot. Ambiance (3.5/5): Bonfire is a large restaurant with bar seating, high tops, tables, and booths. They also have an enclosed patio, which is where we sat. Despite the size of the restaurant, it was close to capacity while I was there. The space between the tables is pretty minimal, so things are pretty tight while you're walking by. At the host table, I discovered that the restaurant has been on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives. Several food items that were on the show are notated on the menu. Pretty cool! They also have a location in Tempe. Service (4.5/5): Despite being one of the few tables outside, our waitress, Fiona, did a good job taking care of us. She was friendly, efficient, and checked in on us at the right times. I asked for some recommendations and she gave good answers. All in all, exactly what you expect when you're being taken care of at a busy restaurant. Food (N/A): I had food at the festival, so drinks only on this visit. I will say that the menu is large, and a lot of the options looked good. Drinks (5/5): The food menu is large and so is the drink menu. And the creativity is there, too. They have spiked beers, which are beers that have liquor or liqueur in them. Pretty awesome! That's what I started with. A wheat beer with orange vodka. They have several smoked old fashioneds. They have a large variety of beers, wine, and seltzers. They have several different mules. They have frozens. They have cocktails. Pretty impressive, huh? And the drinks are reasonably priced. My second drink of the evening was the smoked new old fashioned, which is made with tequila. I will definitely return. Bonfire is that awesome. We ordered 3meat sampler with 2 sides. Double brisket and southwest pulled pork. The southwest pulled pork is off the charts delicious. Moist, smoky, not overly spicy so one can enjoy the flavor. Brisket was a tad dry and tough, more fat than appreciated. One suggestion would be to smoke prime brisket. The sides we ordered were double beans and coleslaw. The beans tasted like Bush's Beans. This place is ridiculous. My husband and I went to do karaoke on Saturday night we had one drink and they refused to serve us another drink saying my husband was falling asleep at the table. We left and the manager and 6 employees followed us out of the bar which caused a scene and made the situation worse I had ordered an uber and asked the manager if they could please go inside that we had an uber coming she said no I asked 6 times and she refused and told us to get off their property which was the parking lot. I was telling my husband to be quiet and back up he accidentally knocked my vape out of my hand and then the manager said he just assaulted me I told her absolutely not. The manager called the cops while our uber was waiting for us in the parking lot the cops came over to speak with us. I told the police officer that if the manager and her minions would have just gone inside and left us to get in the uber that was waiting for us it would have de escalated the situation they would not even had been called. This place is happening. We went on a Sunday evening and it was packed to the gills with happy people. The crowd is younger than you would expect in Surprise. The were many families with kids. We were seated immediately and our server was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. I ordered the smoked Manhattan and it comes sealed in a canning jar to the table so you can have your own smoke show. The drink itself was done well and was a generous pour. We shared the smoked wings with the house seasoning and no sauce. The smoke flavor is bold and the wings were meaty and clean. For entrees, we had cauliflower crust pizzas and the meatloaf. The pizzas were good but small with very little toppings. The meatloaf dinner was a massive portion and could feed a small army. I was told the flavor was good. The service was great and the food was tasty. The pricing was a bit high for the pizzas and the music was pretty loud where were were sitting. Arrived here on a Wednesday night around 8 pm. If I would have known they did trivia I would have come earlier. The restaurant has a large indoor space and some outdoor space. Considering it was 109 degrees, the outside was not open. I saw a group of about 18 people so it can be accommodating for groups. We were greeted by a sweet older lady that sat us quickly. Our server Gianna came and introduced herself shortly after. The drinks were on point, the AZ mule is a recommended drink. I had the Gila Monster with truffle fries. The burger was cooked perfectly medium and the pulled pork was a good add. The truffle fries were in a wedge cut, which was different but it was good. Honey had a brisket sandwich and she approved and recommends the brisket sandwich. We have a group coming in soon and may bring them back here because of the menu size and reasonable prices. read more
