This place used to be my favorites in 2010 time. It was so authentic. Between 2014-2017 , quality came down :( I went there in February and Bang- they are back . Fantastic food now .. loved everything except the wait times ... Parotta with kurma was just excellent!! Chicken fry biryani was outstanding ... loved the soup . We also ordered pepper chicken and it was so good. Food quality was superlative overall. Will go again for sure ..

We have always carried out from this place. Thought we would go in and eat this time. Not the place to go, for ambience and service, but the food was good. Good biryanis (mutton and chicken) and for appetizers we had tandoori pomfret and chicken 65 which were good. Place seems really popular for carry out.

Here's the deal. Are you one of those who has a grumpy whatever? Wife, mother-in-law or friend, or lover? You come here if you want to appreciate them. Service? There is no concept of that here. They treat you like shit! The food spread is good hence the 2 star. Quantity competes hard for a notable mention vs. service, which is unbearable. Ambiance? It reminds me of the Amsterdam red light district. Don't bother with this joint. This is a place that looks like it survives on takeout. You are a massive pain their arse if you are coming to dine here. Go elsewhere.

After I came to know this place serves DEER MEAT food which is something not served in the Indian restaurants, I stopped going in or ordering the food from them. One will not know the difference between Goat meat and Deer meat as I have heard. It was a good place for food since in started in 2009, but not anymore for me.

I have been a customer of this year by year deteriorating restaurant for years.I have seen its quality take a nose dive from its peak. Recently during a visit with family (I stay quite close to Anjappar (North Brunswick)) things reached a boiling point and i lost all patience as the guys running this restaurant straight out to save money took things to a whole different level. We were 6 of us and arrived at 8:45pm and the moment we entered the first thing that greeted us was the stuffiness and stink.Everyone was sweating but since my uncle wanted to try some spicy food i brought him here. We immediately noticed that most of the buffet was not refilled and we thought like any good hotel more food was on the way or so we thot. What followed was the worst dining experience of our lives.Even after polietly asking the staff to get more food they blatantly said they can only do so much and in a restaurant that was in full capacity mentioned they don't want to waste food.I politely told them they were charging us $16 per plate for a buffet and we barely had the opportunity to taste 5-6 items. The staff guy got angry and said its not his problem so i asked him in order to increase their profits they were ready to put the customers experience on the line and swindle him by saying food will go wasted. The older lady at the desk instead of apologizing mentioned its a loss for them.I told them that they shudnt be talking this way or putting customers in such situations where to earn a few dollars in profit they take customers for granted. I think as indians too we tend to go along and thats why restaurants such as these take us for granted with their cheap mentality. It is important these guys learn their lessons and shud take a leaf out of their other franchisee Anjappar -Princeton (i truly value good service) in hospitality, service and hygiene. By the way it was so hot and stuffy inside we were in and out of the restaurant in 30 mins and our damage $110. Hopefully as business decreases these guys will learn their lesson.

Ordered these 3 from Anjappar menu for pickup Mutton uncooked tasted like soaked in salt Prawns masala was like liquid and watery kuzhambu Kothu parota had very stale chicken pieces These 2 are for Meals , veg meals was authentic-sambar rasam kootu payasam If u don't have something on the menu pls say them don't serve us a unhealthy food we prefer brands for same and even quality wherever we eat .

Anjappar is always good. The food is spicy and good. Buffet has wide variety and good options. Service is just like any other Anjappar in US..Not the best.. But awesome food makes us forget the service. Chilly Chicken and Prawn fry are the very best.

Insisted we wait out in the cold and when we went in, insisted that we go for the buffet. So pushy and the food was oily and unhealthy.

This was, without a doubt, the worst restaurant experience I've ever had…read more We had a reservation for 10 people at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Upon arrival, we were told we could choose between the banana leaf special or the à la carte menu. However, when I tried to order from the à la carte menu, I was told it would take at least an hour to receive the food and that we should order the banana leaf special instead. If the à la carte menu isn't realistically available, it shouldn't be offered. We ordered four vegetarian banana leaf specials and six non-vegetarian specials, along with a Diet Coke and a ginger ale. The service and food quality were extremely disappointing. The banana leaves were brought out with a few items already placed on them -- all of which were cold. The curries followed about 15 minutes later and were also cold. The appetizers didn't arrive until at least 30 minutes later, and only after we reminded the staff multiple times. Our drinks didn't arrive for nearly an hour. To make matters worse, the waiter substituted seltzer for ginger ale without informing us because they didn't have ginger ale. When we pointed out that this was not what we ordered, he seemed annoyed rather than apologetic. The poori arrived after we had already finished eating, and only two were brought out for a table of ten. Slow service is an understatement. Adding to the frustration, we were told ordering à la carte would take an hour, yet the table next to us -- served by a different waiter -- ordered à la carte and received their food before their banana leaf specials arrived. Interestingly, when we asked for the check, it arrived immediately. We were automatically charged a 20% gratuity, and the waiter then asked if we wanted to add an additional tip. When we expressed our disappointment about the cold food and poor service, his response was dismissive and unprofessional: "There are 25 items -- how much can you eat?". For clarity, the banana leaf special does not even include 25 items, making that comment both inaccurate and inappropriate Cold food, slow and disorganized service, poor communication, and unprofessional behavior made this an unacceptable experience. I would not recommend this restaurant.

I most often get disappointed when I eat in South Indian (Tamil) restaurants in the US simply…read morebecause I know how food is supposed to taste, having grown up with that all my life. That said, Arusuvai was one of the few restaurants that did not let me down. My parents loved the food, and I was impressed with the taste and quality, as well as the authenticity. We had ordered Briyani, Parotta, and Mutton Curry for lunch, and had also ordered Crab Masala for to go. They all tasted very good, especially the crab. Food might seem a little on the pricey side but I think it is definitely worth it. Staff were friendly and Service was fast enough but we did visit pretty on the tail end of the lunch rush, so not sure how the service will be when they are packed. Decor was pretty much standard South Indian restaurant style.

This is an update to a prior review. This has been one of our favorite restaurants in the area but…read moreour last visit fell short. We ordered the family platter and a hummus to go. We were told it would take 30-35 minutes, which is fine for cooked to order food. It really wasn't very busy, but the order took 50 minutes. The order was sitting on their counter ready to go, but it appeared they were backed up with making the bread. Once the bread came out, they bagged it up and we were ready to go. They almost forgot to give us the side salad, but they remembered before we left. Now for the food... - The bread that we waited for- was doughy and undercooked. It had burnt pieces stuck to it and they were not shaped as nicely as their usual bread. - The hummus side that we ordered, which was almost $8, was a half filled half pint container (very small amount) of what appeared more like a sauce rather than the thick hummus we are accustomed t. I wouldn't order this again. - The salad was watery...they need to drain the water better - The rice was cold - I think it was sitting out too long - Now for the main event - the meats - we enjoyed the flavor. This saved our dinner, we did enjoy the meats. We called them about the bread and they were apologetic, and told us we can stop by for bread next time we are there. As this is one of my favorite restaurants, I want to give them an opportunity to do better next time! The afghan bread and their rice have alway been my favorite part of their meals! I think it was an off night for them, I'd definitely give them a chance again in the future.

Everything from the Chicken Chapli Kabob, Chicken Gyro Platter, Chicken Tikka Masala, Beef Kabob to the fresh made naan is delicious. The hummus is a must try. The prices are still extremely reasonable and the portion sizes are large. The service and staff is also very personable, friendly and full of suggestions. The interior has a casual front side with tables and the back has some booths with some ethnic decor. There are not many Afghan restaurants in the area, but hands down this is one of the best ones I've been too. I definitely plan on continuing to eat here.
