Interesting visit. The two gals that helped that took our orders were clearly unhappy especially the blonde. Also, kind of surprised we weren't able to add meat to the hummus sandwich. We drive by this bakery a lot and finally decided to stop by. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. Being in the middle of acres and acres of orchards and being named after a pear we thought there would be a large selection of fruit flavored delights but that was not the case. In fact the selection was very small and very little seemed to be from local orchards. We bought a buckwheat and plum cake and a chocolate and raspberry cake as well as two peanut butter cookies. The cookies were fine but nothing out of the ordinary. As for the cakes...there were very dry and lacked any real flavor. It seems like there would be so much potential in this little bakery but for us it missed the mark. read more

I have driven all the way from Fall City Wa. to buy there bread and pies. And will do SOON again. Some people have said "expensive" Have you ever baked bread? made a pie? This is hard work. Running a business is even harder. Paying TAXES, employe salaries, rent and a accountant who is on your butt for everything you did wrong. Winter now. So I will have to stand still. This place is one you might pass by on Hiway 2 if you are headed for Spokane from the west side of Washinggton. DON'T. Their baked goods are a delight, plus there is ample room if you wish to have a coffee and set a spell. The peanut butter cookies are without a doubt the best I have ever tasted in my 64 years. read more

Great bread and killer cinnamon rolls. Right off the 2 in Cashmere. Worth the drive if you live in Wenatchee or Leavenworth.

Stopped on the way in and stopped on the way out. Love that the muffins/pastries here are not too sweet. Ended up with a pie from elsewhere, which was a mistake. Next time I'll grab one from here to try. The cherry/raspberry muffins with chocolate chips on top were moist and delicious. The pumpkin was better than I had expected (not a huge pumpkin fan). The bread pudding is divine...a bit heavy, but excellent for nibbling on all afternoon. I'll stop every time I pass though. Wish they had non-dairy/non-soy milk for their coffee stand (would have loved a latte) though. read more

I used to love this place. The coffee and baked goods we're pretty good. I stopped to get a cup of coffee and what I had hoped to be a lot of baked goods for my trip, but it was closed. If this place is closed, under no circumstances should you get out of the car with your pet to stretch your legs after a long road trip (not even for 5 min). You will be met with, who is likely the owner, telling you the obvious, we are closed and then explaining that the dog area isn't a dog park. I'll be stopping elsewhere from now on. read more

Very disappointed with Anjou bakery as on a busy holiday weekend. Saturday morning bread not available not ready at 9 AM. Many customers walked out knowing this fact. A bakery open only four days a week should have their products out and available especially on weekends. read more

Okay, so I've read others reviewing the blonde woman who works there (maybe she's an owner, I don't know). I agree that she may not be super friendly when you walk in the door, but perhaps that's just her style not to be a cheerleader. Their items are delicious, and the place is beyond charming, and the other person who works there was very darling and friendly - and the two of them working together balanced each other out. This quaint shop has wonderful pastries and a few "light" sandwich options. I came here a few years back and was so impressed. I came in with my daughter today and was a bit less pleased... No offer to heat up food, and no honey for my coffee drink. After paying $6.25 for my 12oz almond milk latte, I won't be back, but I would definitely buy their bread if I saw it out at the market. read more

We have been coming to this bakery on our way east for years now. While the service has never been particularly good, until today it had never been completely unacceptable either. Today will be the last time we stop. Here is why: after ordering a cappuccino and asking the young man making coffees for the cappuccino to be made "extra dry", he proceeded to make it exactly like a latte. Which is fine if one wants a latte, but it's not the same as an extra dry cappuccino. The baristas response to being told that the drink was not an extra dry cappuccino was that it was how they made them and that we would have to wait for 5 minutes while he made all of the other drinks behind ours. His snarky attitude and one inappropriate comment after another did not sit well with my husband. The manager came out to try and remedy the situation, which was good, but even he couldn't keep his employee from saying more out of line comments. They ended up giving us our money back for the drink, also good, but it was way too much stress for what was supposed to be a fun little stop so we won't be back. If you don't mind the neither friendly nor unfriendly customer service with the chance for a particularly bad customer service experience interrupting your morning, they do have good pastries and a limited, but tasty, sandwich menu. read more

Stopped in on my way home to the westside of the mountains, and was very glad I did! The cinnamon roll I purchased was absolutely incredible, second to none...not one of those goooey iced rolls you might find at the Mall, but a flakey, carmelized, tasty roll, with cinnamon being the dominating flavor. The loaf of artisan bread that I bouight to bring home with me is also amazing, and on par with any loaf you might enjoy in a European bakery! This place only serves one size coffee and for a small town the owner is awfully snotty and rude. Coffee quality is average. I've asked for a drip coffee. The owner says nothing and hands me an americano. Been here 3 times and every time the lady behind the register (assumed owner) is rude. if you are looking for good coffee and what you ask for, without the hassle of a small town mindset business owner, then do not come here. read more

I got a filled croissant there that I thought was over-cooked (crust had some burnt tasting sticky stuff on it) and tough.. I might have just bought the wrong thing there... The other reviewer seems to love it, but I'm not eager to try it again. Ben wasn't there when I got my croissant and Ben doesn't know that I absolutely love croissants in France (I've been there over 6 times) as well as gelato in Italy. Maybe I got my croissant on an off day or they spilled something on it so the syrup got burnt on the croissant. Anyway, I haven't been back there to try it and will try something else if I ever do go back. read more

We won't be stopping her again. We've given the Anjou Bakery several chances to impress, however, it just isn't that good. (It's gone downhill for sure.) It is over priced, the selection was dismal...only had sourdough bread available and whole milk for the espresso drinks (I would think they would carry 2% or skim also.), and the person working behind the counter was unbelievably rude and dismissive. She obviously didn't care about customer service. It's too bad...I really wanted it to be a favorite stop of ours. read more

My new favorite bakery in the area, worth the trek out of Leavenworth. The old barn structure has a very warm and pleasant atmosphere, and there is a nice little porch in front. Good coffee,sandwiches, and bread, and excellent, excellent sweets. My family has been searching for a marionberry pie to rival one that a Leavenworth bakery used to make, and Anjou actually surpassed the original favorite. read more

This is a perfect place to stop if you're staying in Wenatchee and making your way back to Seattle. They carry Cafe Vita coffee and I love their baguettes with seeds. (It's great to munch on during the drive home.) read more

These place needs customers and they do very little to bring them in. They have s very limited menu, 3 sandwiches on homemade stale bread. There are not any prices on the menu because their sandwiches are over priced, as they consist of primarily bread with butter and ham or tuna, or Brie and sun dried tomatoes. No fresh vegetables. The blonde server was polite and friendly, but the brunette was irritated when we didn't order coffee and asked for water. She charged us $2.00 for water. Anjou Bakery use to be quite good , but seems to have gone down hill. It's too bad. read more

I love stopping here during road trips out east. The staff is lovely and they have great baguette sandwiches, macaroons, and lattes. Prices are comparable to some of the higher end bakeries in Seattle. There is a nice little lawn outside for kids to play. read more

Stopped by on our way to Leavenworth. I was excited because the place smelled great. It was my first time there so I had asked the tall, blond woman who worked there a few questions about the menu. She must have a limited vocabulary since the only word she seemed to be able to say was "no" or "no we dont have that." Since it was our first time. I'd hoped she would recommend something or have been a little more friendly. The coffee was nice and strong but unfortunately we wont be back due to the unfriendly woman who made our coffee and made me regret stopping or spending my money at the establishment. read more

Stopped yesterday after a visit to Leavenworth. Had heard great things about the bakery so wanted to experience it too. The atmosphere felt like it was under construction but that didn't dissuade me. When I walked to the counter almost everything was 'sold out'. Purchased some great granola - lots of seeds like I like! The crostini was lack luster and had little flavor to it. Here's a suggestion....put a little rosemary in it to zip it up! Here is the problem I had....the person behind the counter was my biggest complaint. She accused us of stealing...taking a pellegrino and not paying for it. When I said we had paid for it and the young woman working the cash register showed her the receipt she continued to accuse by stating there was another can in the bag. We showed her the bag and she looked inside and then turned away from us. No apology or anything! I told her I didn't appreciate being accused of stealing and we left. I don't think I'll be back to visit this bakery again....far better ones in the area (Leavenworth and Wenatchee) with much better mannered employees! read more

For several years, Anjou Bakery was our favorite stop on weekend visits to ths area. Rustic, nestled in an orchard -- it was like visiting France. Until the remodel. Now it is well on its way to becoming a glass, chrome and concrete Starbucks. The staff was quite rude to us the last time, too. The wares have been good but pricey, and it was the atmosphere that made it worth the extra price. We won't be back. read more

If you are driving through central Washington, wait to pee until you get to Anjou Bakery! It's in the middle of nowhere orchard-land, but easy to find and right off the highway. The people behind this place obviously value both quality ingredients and environment. Importantly, the bathroom is clean and precious. My girlfriend and I stopped twice, both going to and coming from Lake Chelan. Our coffees, pastries and sandwiches were excellent. Anjou Bakery is no doubt the best pit stop you'll find on your next long drive through Washington! read more

This bakery has the best sandwich in the world. They bake their own baguettes and the best one is the one with roasted tomatoes and brie - this is to die for. They roast and season their own tomatoes and use a special brie imported from Europe with the blue veins. The bread is just simply wonderful. They have two other sandwiches - one is tuna and I don't remember the other. Their cappuccino was also outstanding. We come from Bellevue on our way to Chelan so I call in ahead of time to make sure I get one of these fabulous sandwiches. Great friendly service and a warm interior beautifully done. Heather does a great job with this business. Their home made granola is super too. Anyone writing a bad review has some kind of problem as this place is outstanding. read more

This gem has a great selection of freshly baked pastries. Their bread pudding was incredible. The decor was so cute and fresh and they even had an outdoor patio. I hope to make it back when I am visiting family in Leavenworth next. read more

Yum yum yum. Granted, they are only open Thurs-Sunday, so lots of people are going to miss this place. That said, if you're nearby on a weekend, you should be stopping here for a morning pastry and espresso. The cinnamon rolls are delicious, the coffee is good, the staff is friendly, the the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. Things aren't cheap - it's 3-4 dollars for a croissant or roll - so be aware of that going in. There aren't a ton of options, but what they have on offer is tasty and shouldn't be missed.
