Parking is difficult to find. We circled around a couple times and finally found street parking on third street. This dessert place is definitely a hidden gem in Ktown! My friends and I loved the Injeolmi and Matcha Bingsoo. The matcha bingsoo had a green tea custard on top which wasn't very sweet but so decadent in the matcha flavor. It was refreshing and delightful. The flavors are well mixed into the layers of shaved ice - not just piled on the top. They were $11 each and took about 15 min to make. It is pricey compared to other dessert places but they seemed high quality and not too sweet which is perfect for Asians. The Injeolmi flavor seems like an acquired taste and came with soft mochi on top. It's a trendy place and the workers sanitize the tabletops once a party leaves. CUSTOMER SERVICE Since it was near closing, it was pretty empty - only one other group there. The staff was very friendly. They did not make us feel rushed or anything. We asked for suggestions and the cashier was helpful and patient. FOOD The menu is simple. Anko serves mainly bingsu ($9-10) and beverages ($3.50-5). My friend and I split the mango bingsu because it's the perfect size to share. It had a nice presentation with a wood tray and spoon. It would be nice if they had a fake bingsu on display to show what size it would be. The bingsu came with creamer to pour on. In terms of flavour, it wasn't anything outstanding. It was basic and the mango complimented the shaved ice. The mango itself was super sweet (a little bit too much for my taste). Overall, it was average but still enjoyable. I wouldn't say it's the best I've tried, but I would come again and try the other flavours. INTERIOR The interior of the store has a cute simple aesthetic. The space is quite open and there is plenty of seating. This would be a nice place to catch up with a friend. PARKING I paid for parking in the lot right next to it for $2 cash to the parking attendant. Love love love this place! They have sweet pumpkin shaved ice which is a menu that you cannot find anywhere else in LA. Anko is my favorite korean shaved ice place in LA!! Ive tried their mint chocolate chip and oreo, and they were both super tasty. But sweet pumpkin is my favorite. Small, clean place for hangout. Nice temperature and noise level. I like Anko a lot! It's a lesser known shaved ice place in Ktown especially when compared to Sul & Beans and Oakobing. I prefer Oakobing just a tad more because I like their style of snow shaved ice better but I definitely like Anko more than Sul & Beans. The round spherical shape of their shaved ice is beautiful (definitely for instagrammers) and I like how they have a few unique flavors that you typically don't find at other places. I've tried the mint chocolate chip and the sesame shaved ice. Both flavors are quite strong but really, really tasty because the flavors are so pure. Another plus is that they put the toppings throughout the middle of the shaved ice so you continue to get flavor as you dig in. Best of all, I like how they give you extra sauce on the side to add for when you get to the very bottom of the bowl so that you're not eating just plain ice! The place is never filled or crowded compared to Oakobing and Sul & Beans so you can always find a table, even on a Friday or Saturday night which is super nice. Definitely my favorite Korean shaved ice shop. It's a nice mom and pop store, with great options. The shaved ice itself is extremely fine and the flavors are great. Something I really like about Anko is that they layer the shaved ice and toppings, not a lot of places do that! The hidden gem of Anko is the taiyaki. I've never had a better taiyaki!! This place feels very hip and modern inside. We were around K-town looking for dessert and this was one of the only places open after 11pm that we could find. We were expecting either patbingsoo or kakigori based off of the way the shaved ice plates looked (and because they are referred to as patbingsoo in other reviews). However, it turns out that the mango shaved ice was nothing like patbingsoo that we were expecting. The ice was very dense and ultimately had the texture of rough ice cream rather than a fluffy, airy texture I associate with good patbingsoo. Moreover, while the aesthetics of drizzling mango sauce over the top of the show dome was very pretty, it results in areas near the edges of the shaved ice dome getting dried out and turning to crunchy ice. The mango itself was very nice, tart and firm. I'd say the texture and ice crunch of the shaved ice itself brought down the dish significantly. The taiyaki was very good--crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside, generously sized, and piping hot custard and red bean filling. I was very happy that we ordered these! The custard was eggy and not too sweet while the anmitsu was a bit too chunky (the beans were perhaps a minute or two undercooked, but still tasty overall). These need to be eaten piping hot as they become limp and floppy a mere minutes after being made to order. tl;dr the shaved ice was average in terms of it's texture (mango flavor was ok), taiyaki is excellent when eaten right away read more

I often find myself consuming bingsu (from other shops) that have tons of ice, but only a light exterior of flavor. Anko, instead, has the flavor in the interior, the exterior, and in a side dish for you to add the taste to your desires! For about $6-7, I ordered the black sesame to share with a friend. (*For my friends who have a nut allergy, this flavor comes with almonds!) Several would consider this flavor an "acquired taste", but my friend and I have always been in love with black sesame.
