Food: -Hot latte ($5) with almond milk (+$0.50) = $5.50 -Cortado ($4.50) with almond milk (+$0.50) = $5 With +$1 upcharge for alt milk on top of already high base prices being the norm these days, the 50 cent upcharge here was a pleasant perk and one of the reasons we picked this cafe to try out over the others. Since the latte was solid, and the only difference between the two drinks is the amount of milk, I was surprised to find the cortado was an absolute miss. The espresso was extremely sour and unpleasant. I'm not sure what happened here, but this was a bummer. They also sell boong-uh-bbang 4 for $12. Service: -Quick, to the point Ambiance: It's a beautiful, minimalistic cafe with light wooden furniture and green plants throughout the shop. Plenty of seating, outlets, and free WiFi. We went on a Thurs morning around 9am and there was one other customer by the time we left around 11:30am. The music is low volume and conducive to studying/working. Came for dessert at Anko after dinner nearby. It gets crowded and has limited seating inside. We were lucky and found street parking about a block over. Otherwise, they have Valet parking for their plaza, but I'm not sure how much that is... We beat the after-dinner dessert rush. Our group of 4 ordered 1 Black Sesame Shaved Ice and Custard Taiyaki (4 pcs) to share. Our friends also ordered tea, but hubby & I didn't. I liked the Custard Taiyaki - I think they use mochi rice flour so it has an extra chewiness. Custard flavor is a favorite of mine so I have no complaints. Taiyaki is best fresh & hot, but filling can squirt out & burn so be careful. The Black Sesame Shaved Ice was good, had slices of almonds and red bean in it. I think the Shaved Ice was sweeter than the Taiyaki. They have one unisex bathroom (key required) that was a little unkempt when they got busy (ran out of toilet paper)...but the staff were all friendly and got to it ASAP. The Taiyakis can take some time to make since it looks like they have one grill for everyone's orders. Tables can be hard to come by during rush times, so if you're lucky enough to get one, people will be eyeing and circling you like hawks when you look to be about done/finished (O_O), so just be aware of that. We ordered the black sesame shaved ice & taiyaki (nutella & custard flavored). anko definitely has the softest bingsoo I have ever had.. there was so much flavor with every bite! their portion size is smaller than most bingsu places but the quality and taste makes up for it! compared to other bingsu places, i have always had to ask for extra toppings or condensed milk just for more flavor when we got towards the middle or bottom of the dessert. My friend and I were on a hunt for good bingsoo and this shaved ice spot didn't disappoint. FYI - they're busy on weekends! So the cashier will ask you if you're willing to wait 20 mins for it. We split the MANGO BINGSOO for $12 (decent deal) and it was definitely worth the wait. The mango syrup was sweet and yummy. The SHAVED ICE was perfectly shaved so fine that it was almost buttery consistency and melts perfectly unlike other places where it isn't so finely shaved. Mango pieces were lacking a bit and wasn't as sweet as I'd have liked from other spots. The only downsides were: 1) the tiny amount of super watered down condensed milk they give you -- it doesn't even taste like it :( 2) the container it's given in, it's tall more than wide so all the drizzle from the syrup so you have to maneuver your way to make sure you're eating flavored ice. There are plenty of small tables for small and larger groups in this casual low key place. If you're interested in people watching they have high tables along side the windows. Overall, parking can be difficult but at least there's street parking if you're willing to walk a bit. Restrooms are smelly bc they're shared male/female stalls in one, so the males always stink it up. Would be nice if they had strong air fresheners or something to make it less unpleasant. read more

One order was perfect to share for 2. We liked how soft and powdery the ice was and the condensed milk that came with it. There's a layer of red bean in the middle which was also a nice surprise. Everything was balanced and not overpowering with each other. We enjoyed our dessert very much! Finding parking was a hassle for us but we didn't see that there's on-site valet parking.
