As part of our family tradition when on vacation near the ocean, we have to have fish and seafood. What better place than Anna Maria Oyster Bar. The food was as great as I remember it from many years ago. We got a variety of platters and different kinds of fish. My butter garlic scallops were cooked to perfection. Nice green beans and red skin potatoes to go with them. And a very delicious cilantro rice. There is no way to go wrong with any choice. Our non Italian Jovanni waiter was great and funny. As it happens the place was just remodeled and it's looking wonderful. (I was able to take some pictures before they closed for the night). The only thing missing was the old metal hangers with paper towels hanging above each table. But I asked and they said they are putting them on. I can't wait to go back on our next trip. read more

I'm not sure where to start. We stopped in because I saw an ad on Facebook where they had recently updated the restaurant so we were interested in checking it out. When we walked in, nothing looked updated in our opinion, but please keep in mind we haven't been there before. I'm merely saying that nothing looked new or fancy or upgraded material or workmanship. It just looks like a normal diner or a restaurant that had been open for years. We asked for bar seating and were promptly greeted by the bartender and ordered our drinks all which came out nice and quick. Y'all sitting at the bar, we had a wide open view to the kitchen. Those prepping the food were prepping and plating quickly and immediately getting it under the lights for servers to take to their tables. That's where the ick factor started to kick in for me. We watched orders sit up there in excess of 10 to 15 minutes. Servers were walking by constantly and several didn't pay any attention to the prepared orders. Personally, if I'm out to eat, I'm usually hangry at that point so seeing the food up there waiting that long to be served kind of had me peeved. We continue to watch as the kitchen staff in the prepping area had to keep sliding and moving the orders around to fit up new orders. And for that reason, we didn't order food and will not return. Serving the meals when they're freshly prepared didn't seem to be a priority and order after your order sat for an extended period of time. Now for the bathrooms. There aren't any. There is not a single restroom inside. Now, how can you say you're newly renovated and updated and you don't even have bathrooms inside your establishment. Instead, you have to walk outside and across the parking lot to Mobile restrooms that were definitely unkept. There was no tent or anything or umbrellas available for the raining that obviously occurs in Florida. I just don't understand how you close to update and remodel things and you still don't have indoor bathrooms? Very peculiar to me. read more

Food and service were outstanding! We enjoyed the shrimp ceviche and fresh traditional oysters as our starters with a delicious piña colada. For our entrees we opted for the grilled mahi and the sautéed shrimp with the yummy garlic butter sauce. First time at this location, and first time for our friend who met us Coastal decor with great resin/ seashell filled tables. Clean bathroom with several stalls. We had Bella as our server, and she was warm, welcoming and very attentive. She thoroughly explained how the menu was set up, etc, and was just a delight the entire time. Review is for 2 visits in same weekend. 1st visit we sat at the bar for lunch so we could have a least some view of water while we ate lunch. All of the outdoor seating was either taken or reserved. Service was decent. My grouper sandwich was delicious. The house made chips were very good. I also got a side salad which was very good. My husband got the grouper dinner and also loved it. Our friend got the Cobia sandwich which came with 2 sizable pieces of fish. (Cobia is firm white fish). As it happens this place has happy hour from 3-6 daily so we returned here on Sunday to have a drink. The restaurant was very accommodating by allowing us to put 2 tables together. The food was okay. The prices were great! They have a ton of specials of the day which is nice. The ambiance was cool inside but it was crowded, we had 3 little children, and there was a 40 minute wait so we sat outside. They had fans outside so it wasn't too hot on an August night. Our server, Sean, was nice and did a good job. This review isn't a reflection of him, rather the rest of the customer service and food quality. 1 star removed for food quality, 2 for the service. Details below. I would not recommend the Cortez location of AMOB. We had 3 kids with us, one is a 10 month old baby. Knowing we have little children, we were happy to sit outside. When we were loading up in the car in the parking lot a thin older Caucasian woman came outside to bus the table and made a scene complaining about the mess on the floor "oh hell no", raised her arms and was very rude and unprofessional. A tall, younger man came out shortly behind her and followed her lead complaining about the mess. I saw and heard all of this, as did my children, so I said "they're just kids" and the man quickly realized he was being observed and changed his tune. He said "it's okay; I've seen worse" and tried to downplay the situation. My 10 month old did toss food on the floor. It wasn't anything outrageous for a baby - 3 sweeps of a broom and it would be clean. When children come to a restaurant, accidents happen - food ends up on the floor, drinks get spilled, etc. We tip generously knowing this happens. We stack our plates and try to tidy up the table. The rude outbursts, especially from the woman, are unnecessary. read more

I chalk it up to it being hella chaotic and packed in the place. We did get free dessert though, since she screwed up and gave me sweet tea with lemon in it and my shrimp fettuccini alfredo with lemon in it after we told her MORE THAN ONCE that I am very allergic to citrus fruits!!!
