I haven't been here in a really long time and last time I dined on the patio, but this time inside. We arrived 30 minutes early of our reservation in the hopes of having a drink at the bar, but the bar was filled with diners. This seems to be the new trend everywhere we go. Even more disappointing because we couldn't get happy hour prices for our drink because we were seated at a table. Our server was very friendly and quickly took our drink order. The list of cocktails and wines is extensive. I settled on a hibiscus infused cocktail with guava juice and lemonade. For me it was way too sweet. The menu is varied, but definitely geared toward seafood. There are no daily specials as the menu changes daily. I settled on a Caesar salad and the crab cakes. While waiting for my salad we were served salmon pate with some crackers and also fresh warm bread. Both were very good. My salad looked very nice and was good too. We waited a longer than normal time for our entrees. My crab cakes were just ok. We had a large party with kids and wanted a table away from the crowds and they let us pick any table and even let us move underneath the heaters. Ambiance inside seemed to be more upscale. We celebrated our 63rd wedding anniversary this evening at Crab & Fin, our cherished place for family milestones, and it was once again a truly special experience. Everything was bad. High prices with bad service and even worse management is a recipe for disaster. Food was terrible and it was obviously pre cooked and heated. My wife's salad had so much dressing it was wilded. Called for the manager and it was apparent why the place is so bad. He could have cared less about a customer. We've been going here for valentines day for years but Went here for this Valentine's Day and the valentines menu left much to be desired. Everything with truffle and just nothing exciting. The bisque was delicious as usual but the stone crab was frozen and the new "reimagined" crème brûlée was awful. Mind you, it was 300 dollars so I would expect much better quality. I have no complaints other than an uninspiring dessert menu. We started with a dozen oysters from Canada and Maine. Fresh and cold and really yummy! Caesar salad was exactly what a Caesar salad should be, light, fresh and dressed appropriately. I had the grilled Grouper and it was amazing! I'm from NY and it's not common on menus in the northeast so this was a treat. My wife had the whole yellowtail snapper . Both extremely fresh and flavorful. The only thing I would say is that the fried snapper could have been seasoned more. But I rather add salt than have it over seasoned. Service was good. Martha's Vineyard salad was excellent. Perfect balance of ingredients. Raspberry vinaigrette was the perfect complement. I had arctic salmon on top and my wife went with chicken which she liked. My husband ordered a Bloody Mary and when asked if it had horseradish, he was told no. Came with a ton of horseradish. We decided to split the tuna with cold vermicelli noodles and the Cobb salad. I loved the tuna, seared perfectly with a ton of flavour. Cobb salad on the other hand was beyond boring. So we ordered chicken to throw on top. The smell of the burnt grilled chicken was so intense my husband thought the chicken was bad. Worse 27.00 Cobb salad I've ever had. I can't believe we spent 27.00 bucks for that. Second time coming to this restaurant over the 4th of July holiday. Our server off the bat was attentive and friendly - only comment is that we frequently had to ask for more water. Drinks took a long time to come out, which was AFTER we got our appetizers and ate them all. I ordered the espresso martini, which I unfortunately did not enjoy at all. Too bitter but also too creamy at the same time. What saved this place from getting 3 stars was their food -- their salmon dish was phenomenal. The steak and potatoes with caramelized onions an easy 10/10. Also highly recommend the tuna. Overall, a solid place with a few flaws that could be fixed. Willing to try them again! read more

We met friends at this restaurant while visiting Longboat Key. They dine here quite frequently as they live near St Armands Circle. The restaurant is a two-floor restaurant with plenty of seating and also an outdoor patio on the street. We were seated upstairs, unfortunately as it had no ambience as the first floor. I wish I could remember our servers name because he was excellent, a tall young man who was engaging and friendly. He brought us a smoked fish spread with crackers as a little starter. Our friend ordered the crepes aubergine for the table, which was eggplant rollatini with mozzarella, romano, and marinara - very good. The menu changes daily depending on the fish they catch. So of course we ordered fish when it's caught the same day that we're about to eat it. My hubby had the grouper and I had the branzino. The fish was cooked perfectly and we really enjoyed our choices. However, the grouper was a very small portion. As a person who weighs her food because I am on Weight Watchers, it looked like it wasn't even 6oz. Pricey for the portion. It was served with roasted rainbow carrots which were so good because hubby shared. My branzino was delicious, but I had a few bones that were missed when filleting the fish. However, I liked my dish. This night's winner went to the octopus! We came back for lunch with a friend the next day. Our waiter of the day was Alexandro. He was happy and energized. We ordered calamari for an appetizer. It was perfect. Then, I ordered snapper and shrimp from the lunch menu. My dish was excellent, and I thought I would try again when we return in December. Again, Hubby said he didn't make a good decision ordering for himself. He ordered fish and chips, thinking the place would have the best fish and chips, but that's ok, I let him try my dish and he loved it. Our friend had Scottish salmon that looked so delicious too. If you are in St Armand circle there are many choices for the restaurants but this is a good spot for fresh seafood. Try their octopus it is very tender and good spices. Had an amazing meal at Crab & Fin! We ordered the scallops, wahoo & tempura shrimp dish, and the foie gras two ways--everything was packed with flavor. The scallops were tiny but perfectly cooked, the wahoo was super fresh, and the tempura shrimp had the perfect crunch. The foie gras was a nice surprise, super rich and delicious. We have been coming to Crab and Fin for years. And we always get the seafood tower (it used to be a tower and used to be served with fingerling potatoes and veggies). It's changed over the years to this large plate. We still get it bc the King crab is wonderful. But it was much better years ago. Last nite's clams were really fishy, the oysters were OK and the cocktail shrimp were overcooked. We had an 8 pm reservation on a Friday nite. The restaurant was lively and seemed packed inside. There were a few empty tables outside (which are first come first serve), and live music with a pianist outside. Our experience last nite was meh. Our server didn't talk about where the oysters were from and we had to request bread. She did recommend the desserts which were good. We will probably just get the king crab next time. Crab and Fin is an upscale restaurant right in the heart of St Armand's circle. It's larger than it seems, with outdoor seating, a nice inside bar and an upstairs (I didn't venture up there). Being an upscale place, service was very good and our booth was very comfortable. We brought our own special bottle of wine and paid the $20 corking fee. I had the scallops, which were surprisingly tiny, but good. The overall portions of our meals were fairly small as well. As they're going for the upscale feel, pricing matched as well. Went here on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon, patio seating was amazing especially with the shades drawn. Great drinks, I got the pineapple margarita and fantastic wine selection! Staff was great as well, attentive and kind. Menu is diverse so I think a big family would definitely find something for everyone, and it changes daily. Cedar salad was delicious as well as the bisque. They also have special pricing for early dinner which is great for a post beach dinner which is what we did. Unfortunately, out of a dozen clams a few of them were served dead and our crabs legs were served cold. I'm guessing the crab legs were frozen at some point because they were especially difficult to separate. Serving the crab legs cold might be a local thing but definitely not what I was expecting. Additionally, for a single set of legs, one side of the crab, was $34 with no side and no lemon. We enjoyed our experience overall and will definitely be back to enjoy more of the menu! read more

Shockingly bad! The halibut was beyond dry! The king crab was asked to be served warm and it was cold. The sides were wrong on 1 entree. The lobster crab bisque was barely warm. My family and I enjoyed an outstanding meal at Crab and Fin for my father's birthday. Crab and Fin restaurant has been open since 1978 in St, Armand's Circle and it's longevity speaks to how great it is. It is located right off the circle on S Boulevard of the Presidents at the corner of Fillmore Drive. There is street parallel parking ($1.50/hr.) or there is parking in a lot behind the restaurant for $1/hr. As we were a bit early for our reservation, we started out by getting some drinks/cocktails at the bar area while we waited for our table to be ready. Paul, the evening bartender, was most excellent, as he was attentive, personable, and even offered suggestions. He crafted a delicious old fashioned complete with burnt brown sugar (to which he adjusted the amount per requested). He also suggested an awesome red blend from Tuscany, Casadei. We also had mussels and baked oysters appetizers which were delectable. The mussels sat in a white wine broth with garlic, red onions, and small diced tomatoes and was accompanied by a piece of focaccia. The baked oysters were delicious and something I most definitely will get whenever I return. Before dinner we were served with a delightful bread basket full of warm house made bread. Not only were there white rolls served, there was also a darker bread. The bread was pillowy and light in texture and was a nice addition to the meal. I selected (per endorsement from our fantastic waiter Micheal) the crab cake meal and it came with a jasmine rice, corn salsa, and vegetable medley. I really enjoyed the crab cakes and accompaniments and very much enjoyed the salad that came preceding the meal being served. The pinenuts were a nice and unusual addition to the salad and it was dressed very nicely. Micheal was most attentive throughout our meal and when requested he really took the task seriously and thoughtfully took the most awesome picture of my family and I while seated at the table. We were so nicely surprised with a birthday dessert in honor my father's birthday. It was a fudgy molten cake on a cookie crust with dollops of whipped cream and strawberries with a candle standing upright on the plate (the bottom of candle wax had been melted and affixed onto the plate).
