Went biking riding with my friend I'm visiting here with my bf for the weekend. I haven't been back to Gilroy in years and was sad 1st street coffee is gone, but saw this place just opened last year and has Vietnamese mojito coffee (or whatever they call it I'm sure I got the order of words wrong). Anyway... We stopped off for some brunch. I ordered caramel cheesecake and Vietnamese mojito coffee, because well, I like mojitos and i like Vietnamese coffee so I said we gotta go here. My friend got the salted caramel latte and the bf was watching our bikes outside so I asked the cashier what fruity tea she recommended the butterfly something something. I also got him the chocolate croissants but they seemed small and unimpressive. Check your order on the screen before paying. Cashier forgot to add the chocolate croissants onto our order so bf had to walk back into the store to order it when the order came out to our table. I also asked for a glass of water but she forgot that and i didn't want to overwhelm her even though we were the only table that Saturday afternoon smh The caramel cheesecake was nice and dense. Cute place, would come back. My iced vietnamese mojito coffee tasted exactly like Vietnamese coffee with mint sprigs on top. I ordered the pork belly banh mi and lotus tea. The food was good but I had requested no jalapeños and jalapeños were added. I didn't realized until I had taken my second bite. My first bite, I thought well maybe the sauce is spicy. Well took a second bite and checked and found the jalapeños lol. The sandwich was great without the jalapeños because I don't eat spicy food. I took a star off because my order was not correct, otherwise I would have given them 5 stars. The place is so cute! The service was also great! We stumbled upon a gem on the way up to see the relatives in the Bay Area. Great decor - looked like a bright and spacious tea room. We devoured delicious pho, banh mi sandwich and avocado toast. Brought a cheese danish, a strawberry danish, mango cake and pistachio cake home to share with family. A little ways from the 152 and 101 interchange but worth the detour. Going to stop by on the drive home for more! read more

My daughter and I came across AnNam Bistro and cafe on our daily walk and as soon as we walked in we absolutely fell in love with the decor, the unique furniture, dinnerware just the whole ambiance was amazing. The staff is so welcoming and friendly and the food just outstanding. They have a great menu,delicious food and you get great portions at a great price! Then comes the tea! They have several teas to choose from hot and cold. The hot tea comes in the most adorable teapots, and teacups and the cold teas in adorable glasses,decorated with beautiful designs! Lovely new cafe in Gilroy with yummy drinks tucked away in a strip mall on 1st street. Service was very friendly - food and drinks came out quickly. Plenty of indoor/outdoor seating along with a communal bench. The decor was great and I always love hearing music while I eat to kill the awkwardness of silence. Just a few minor hiccups with the service that I'm certain they will iron out since the cafe is newly opened. The cafe is not exactly child friendly (no child seats and the food and drinks are served on fancy aesthetic dishes) but I also wouldn't call it child un-friendly. Just be prepared to order takeout if your children are antsy. Just a few comments on the food/drinks - the croissant was very dry but everything else we had was delectable! I also found it odd that they don't substitute iced drinks with hot drinks - but that might be more of a me issue. The decor is interesting without being cluttered, the room bright without being overwhelming, the music is perfectly selected and the volume is spot on. The care and attention to detail is obvious in everything from the atmosphere to the food to the service. Today was the day and even though it's decorated all nice so that my wife loved the ambience, these five stars are for Evelyn! When we arrived at 2:30 although Evelyn was making two colorful complicated looking drinks for customers, and even though she had a line at the front counter, she acknowledged our presence and directed us to the menu. She was extremely professional and very joyful, therefore, we assumed she must be part owner/daughter or niece of the owner. Even though there's a huge sign by the payment tablet stating that this is not a fast food restaurant and that everything is made fresh, the drinks were served by Evelyn in a very timely fashion, and the handmade outstandingly delicious spring rolls arrived soon after. Was looking forward to soup and tea at my new favorite spot. It was raining and cold so I couldnt wait to share the warm and cozy ambiance with a friend. Unfortunately that is not what happened. Obviously the owner I've read about in other reviews was present...ice cold inside the restaurant was the first clue something was off, then no cozy music playing. An overbearing woman was laughing and talking loudly with a group of people when we first entered, then went behind the register and began berating an employee. The group was celebrating New Year, which was nice. On the other side of the restaurant sat a couple looking wide eyed and miserable. We were ignored. It was the New Year, and it seemed like family and friends were there to celebrate, but maybe better to close the restaurant? After standing and observing several minutes, we chose to leave.
